Brought back so many happy memories of times with my two sons Jason and Leon Stewart. It was so well used, Leon loved the Joe and Sandra Wayne Show on a Saturday and we all enjoyed the ice skating. It was way ahead of its time.
Wonderful video, thanks for making it - brought back many happy memories. Living down south now, still can't quite believe it's gone... I remember it opening and how exciting it all was! It used to be the future...
Oh wow.. I will always have fo d memories there, I remember watching Titanic there for the first time with my Mom and Auntie.. All my medals at figure skating, swimming lessons and even yoga at one point.. Geez.. So sad to see it go.. A big part of my childhood was spent there.. Wonderful video.. Sam x
Spent the best years of my childhood there, every Sunday it was our religion. Badminton, squash a swim then ice skating in the afternoon. It was the best thing to ever happen in Ayrshire, so sad to see it go.
Fun fact: My uncle Name: Ronnie Singleton was one of the first children in the magnum 😂👌 at the grand opening they did a draw with names and his and someone else’s came out
Sad to see it go but the building was only made to last for so long,,smell of bleach always takes me back to my childhood visits to the magnum for a swim, i remember seeing the stand up comic Chic Murray walking into the magnum as i was going the for a swim as a 12 year old!!!
When I was at glebe primary their was a competition to name the flumes in the schools in Irvine my old class mate Robert Hankins was the winner With the magnum maelstrom, blue bomber and red rocket and our class was the first to use the new flumes Sad watching it be demolished
@@DJcrazykev75 I am planning a new Magnum called Magnum fun place even larger than the portal or the Magnum leisure centre. The largest leisure centre is in France now
It wasn't just the developers, but also the management running the Magnum during the times your referenced videos were made. They did so much not only to promote the Magnum, but Irvine too. Someone even came up with the "Beach Festival" which ran for a couple of years, and as a visitor it was a great success.
the outside pool was great, many time i swam in it in the rain and snow with my kids, they loved it too,the portal just doesnt compare excellent vid though
Hi Richard, My name is Jennifer and I work for a production company in Glasgow - we are making a piece on the Magnum for STV's History's show and we were wondering if you might have time for a chat? Our website is upnextstudios.co.uk if you want to check it out and hopefully speak soon. Thanks again.
Losing the Magnum was one of the worst things to happen to Irvine...So sad.
So sad. Still can't believe it's gone.

Discovered your video on a bit of a nostalgia trip, but it stands out. Love the editing.
Mark Glen Thanks . It was my first attempt at doing something like that . The place is defiantly missed !

What a great shame, losing that resource! Went skating there "back in the day," happy memories...was a real Day Out going to The Magnum!

Fond memories of being brought here by my Grandparents as a child. Sad to see it gone
I remember there it's so sad it got knocked down
PickelRick Mitchell yeah just a pile of rubble now
It's so sad but we have the portel now but it is rubbish
Was indoor bowling available at the centre. ?
Should NEVER have shut. Imagine squashing the portal into a tiny space. It can never compete
Last time in the magnum 2006 now 12 and I'll never be able to go there again the closest thing to the magnum is the waterfront in Greenock
It'sTaite sad thing is it’s not even as good as the magnum was 😭
Great video Richard.
Davie Rooker Thanks . It was great fun to make !

Song name
Glen Michael and his lamp Paladin, what was he smokin back then 🤔
Song name for those asking Van She, don't fear the reaper
North Ayrshire Council should be ashamed of themselves for closing down the Magnum. It was replaced by a greatly inferior facility. Disgusting!
And what’s the music
good job Richard, must have taken you a while!!
Verdant Films Cheers . Was a bit of a project . Jumped into FCPX with no knowledge or background so was a steep learning curve .
I remember bursting my lip and nose on the flumes 😆and fracturing my tibia jumping I’m the baby pool
Was a great place a still don't know why the never invested Into it, the spent money built that portal place in the center which is horrible
so sad i was amazing for north south and east Ayrshire
It was sad when it went away
Makes me sad watching council vandalism. So much lost.
Although the outside pool wasn't such a good idea!
John Sim I know. Praise to the developers optimism though .
