      G'day from Sydney😊
Swannies was an outstanding team including to mention Haywood, Mills,
      Papley, Parker and Rowbottom
They had a go to get goals in which was a surprising 22 points difference.
It was a great game and fabulous efforts from both teams. This is what sheer athleticism shows what kind of calibre each player has leading up to the semi-finals. L ❤VE the Bloods!!

@M Soccer is a European game. Of course it is going to be one of the most popular sports if most of the countries in the world were colonised and invaded by these Europeans. The cultures and sports of these nations were destroyed and millions of people were killed to make way for the European culture and it’s game, not such a “beautiful game” now isn’t it.
Australian Football was a game originally invented by our First Nation’s people which was called “Marn Grook”. Eventually the game would be noticed by the Europeans settlers and it would be shaped into the beautiful game that it is today.
If soccer was really that powerful as you thought it was, it would’ve already been the number one sport long ago in the 1800’s-1900’s. However the Australian people didn’t want to follow the European game of football, why would they want to if the Australian game of football was more exciting, action packed and not overly repetitive (unlike soccer).
Soccer theoretically should have been number 1 long ago, besides the nation who invaded and colonised the Great Southern Land invented the bloody game. But the power of Australian Football withstood the European game due to the uniqueness of the sport and the excitement that it attracted from the Australian public. If you ask me, I find it pretty embarrassing that the nation who invented soccer couldn’t make the sport the number one game in it’s own colony!
Fast forward to today, Australian Football is at the best it has been in its lifetime in terms of popularity across Australia. Did you know that 1 in every 23 Australians are a member of an AFL club? Meanwhile, the A-League gets less supporters to its games than the NRL and the national soccer team has only played in one World Cup Semi Final in it’s 100 history. Soccer may be the number 1 participated sport in Australia, however that is because the other sports that are available to play in Australia are more physical and demanding. Rugby is a very physical sport where only the strongest and better body types can play, Australian Football is not as physical but requires more stamina and skill which can be tough for new players who haven’t played the sport as a kid/teenager.
I remember hearing that people thought that soccer was going to be the number one sport in the 80’s. That never happened. You’re claiming that soccer is going to be number one in 2050? Have a look at your sport’s history in Australia bud. The national team is an embarrassment, the A-League lacks fans, the sport is just too simple and boring compared to AFL.
Don’t try persuade me that the Socceroos will do better in the future, they won’t. Academies and “professional” regional soccer clubs in Australia cost way too bloody much anyways. The talent pool is only limited to the rich. Most of the most famous soccer players came from slums, poor neighbourhoods or some average neighbourhood. The only players you see coming from rich households are the ones who are the sons of famous soccer players. Australia’s real soccer talent is being blocked from being allowed to show off their skills to the nation’s top teams and selectors because of their socioeconomic status. Why should people try to become soccer players if it’s too bloody expensive to even try to become one? It would be much cheaper to become an AFL player or an Olympian.
Soccer doesn’t deserve to be Australia’s number one sport and it never will. Australian Football has a proud history in Australia that soccer can’t compare to. It’s a rich man’s sport in Australia and if you’re not willing to pay the big bucks just to have a shot, you’ll never make it anywhere in soccer in Australia.
To answer your spam, soccer will never become number 1 in Australia. It simply doesn’t deserve to. AFL is a game for everyone and does not discriminate against your socioeconomic status and is an open playing field for those who have the skills and determination to become a true AFL professional.

The 50s to Buddy, and that defensive effort in the last quarter to stop the certain Melbourne goal, really epitomised the game. Melbourne was undisciplined and Sydney was just super committed. Melbourne had a chance to put Sydney away but they committed some horrendous unforced turnovers in the third quarter. Sydney's pressure was intense though so forced Melbourne into mistakes a lot as well. I reckon these two meeting in the GF would be awesome.

Well done to Sydney for upsetting Melbourne at the MCG for the second time this year. How far can the Swans go this year? As for Melbourne, they don't have to leave the MCG for the entire Finals series but they need to get things back on their terms and fast. Will they be the eighth team in fifteen years to crash out of the Finals in straight sets? Will Melbourne pummel Brisbane again? Or will it be a completely story? Looking forward to this matchup.

      @OldFossil 2 роки тому

Fair play to them, but let’s be real, a lot of the goals were from easy and unpressured turnovers such as the Gawn to Hunt cute kick which could have been avoided led to easy goals.
3 goals from 50 meter penalties and grade A flopping from Franklin also helped. Couldn’t believe the commentators on triple m were praising Franklin’s flopping by saying ‘he is that much of a legend that he doesn’t need to touch the ball to influence a game’ 🤡🤦‍♂️
Despite playing like $hit Melbourne still had easy opportunities such as the two Melksham misses and once again shot them selves in the foot. Dominated forward half but the same old story with Melbourne.
Don’t think Sydney are a GF lock, far from it. Dogs/More likely Collingwood and Fremantle are more than capable of knocking them off.

Did you even watch the game? Or pay any attention to their form over the last 6 weeks? If you want to be real then feel free to zero in on Sydney’s missed opportunities as well - errors come from pressure, Sydney’s pressure was a level above and Melbourne couldn’t cope. To think the Dogs or Pies can still knock them off is laughable and not based in reality - just like the Pies fans blaming the Sydney loss on the game being at the SCG and it would be different at the MCG. Wake up and smell the roses, the Swans are the only serious team to challenge the Cats at the moment.

    • @AnthonyLeighDunstan
      @AnthonyLeighDunstan 2 роки тому

Your first point, I’d say “perceived pressure” or “residual pressure” played huge role in the game. Missing goals/passes are byproducts of that.
Buddy is a spud most days and today he was pretty useless. Both those penalties were soft as shi - May was the better player and the better man by far! But swans could’ve also missed those goals. They didn’t. Crucial stat.
By the third quarter, Melbourne gradually started to fade - there was no sting and they kept missing in front of goal. Kept goalless from there to the end.
Melbourne lost for a reason. I don’t think they’ll meet Geelong again this year. In saying that, both brissy and dees have been patchy so it’s 50/50 really. Swans look pumped. They want that shi! Did you see the hype after the win?! [edit] and no team is ever a “lock”. “Upsets” are real, man.

The umps definitely kept Melb in it in the 2nd and the early 3rd quarters. The 50s were just signs of pure frustration from the Demons. The pressure was too intense

@M are you Muslim? By your reasoning you should be since it is the most populous religion. My point? Just let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. My father in law was one of the greatest midfielders in Mexican football and he has never said soccer is the best sport of all. Please take your bigotry elsewhere, or shove it somewhere else.

You'd be embarrassed to support any other club. 🦢
The 2005 Premiership was the greatest GF win in history against an incredible WC team.
Then the 2012 team topped it with the greatest finals campaign ever.
    Here we go again.
