Gary Davis Same my 2nd video. Amongst the prepper ones. Gotta love these two & thier gusto to move into homesteading. Personally I cannot stand being around too many people they cause problems for you. Being Isolated z more than a dream. One day my own reality...
PS I know I'm in February 2019 I hope that y'all put your house why no trees will fall on you I live in the foothills of the Appalachians! I know how bad the snow and ice can be be safe
This is my third video and I am so impressed and happy for you that you are following your dreams and moving to a place where you won't deal with nosey neighbors complaining about goat noise. I first saw your video on raising baby chickens which was a real eye opener and very informative and interesting and then I felt your pain in the "They're all gone" video. You are amazingly kind toward nosey neighbor! I don't think I could have been. I'm excited to follow your journey and have subscribed. One door closes, but this door is open wide!!
Oh my how blessed you are! It's so wonderful for you to have 20 acres of privacy to do your own thing and I'm very happy for you. Congratulations 4 years late but still great!!!
The very first video I came across was Jamie talking about having to get rid of the livestock because of the neighborhood you guys lived in. She looked down and discouraged, not just over having to give up the animals but over being in a place where you weren't with like-minded people, who didn't value homesteading. I am so happy to see that you guys made your dream come true. You've got a great property, and judging by the videos you've made over time, have found the happiness you were looking for. Good for you!
Your comments at about 14:00 are spot on. Often the most important thing to do is "nothing" Well - what many in the world call 'nothing': learning the land. On the wind turbine - get a weather station up on a tower for a year to gather data.
You two always look so calm, and yet I'm sure, under the surface, you're all doing cartwheels over this new opportunity. I look forward to watching all your developments. Have fun and share plenty of hugs. I need those on my personal adventures. :)
Your life has just really begun.....you're young, energized and ready to go. I wish you all the peace and joy this place will bring. When one door is closed.....our creator opens a window. God Bless !!!
For the garden, build a 2x4 cage. They are 8 ft. long and make 8 ft. by 8ft sections. put a door on it and wrap the whole thing with 1 inch chicken wire. Add a door. If you don't, the deer and gtoundhogs will eat everything as soon as it pops from the ground. And the crows will watch you planr rhen dig up the seeds and eat them. We;come to mountain living.
How exciting!! Congratulations! I know this is 2 years old but oh well. So happy for y'all to have found this beautiful property! Regarding setting up a homestead, once you get the living quarters situated, I strongly urge folks to get the vegetable garden and especially the orchard trees planted FIRST, before you worry about livestock or anything else for animals. Get that food growing immediately. ESPECIALLY get your fruit and nut trees planted. It's so important.
I just found your channel. I have to say the second video I watched was the one where you were talking about the mistakes you guys made with the animals. I just wanted to cry. My heart just really broke for y'all. Now seeing you smiling, talking about learning to bow hunt just made me so happy for y'all. I'm a country girl. Born and raised in Tn. Grew up on a farm. My grandma always told me when I grew up I'd miss the farm. Grandma always did speak the truth. I spent the first part of my life trying to get off the farm only to spend a good part of the second half trying to get back on it. I would love nothing better than to homestead. Quilting circles and canning parties are right up my alley. I'm just so happy for y'all. I look forward to watching your beautiful journey.
So great to see you too so happy and excited! Your patience has paid off and now don't lose that skill to patiently plan and time your goals. I know you are so I am excited to be apart of your new life in the wilderness.
So absolutely proud of you guys. Not many people can say that they are living out their dream. I live on just a little bit of acreage in Indiana, and we have bees, a garden, I barter for other things. You will absolutely love love love bees. I've watched all your canning videos and my husband bless me with the kind of canner that you have. I'm so excited to get started canning this fall with my new canner. Thank you for all your videos and the wonderful information you're putting out there as you walk through this journey with your family. Once again thank you for what you do and what you stand for
Well, we are ready too. I cannot wait to see your journey and to learn on the way. My family and I will start this same journey come summer. 8 years of planning and I know we have some hard work and errors ahead of us. But we do believe this is the way of life. As long as we have a community of homesteaders wanting to help and share with eachother, we can all accomplish this.
Hello from Brittany, France!! So glad you've found your perfect place! Been watching your videos for a while now, keep them coming even if you're busy! We're planting our orchard on Sunday, 25 new fruit trees... hopefully, in a few years, we'll never have to buy fruit again!!
Congratulations! I hope you are as happy as i am off-grid. I had a halfway off-grid place for 8 years but I finally went completely off the grid July this year. The first sub arctic winter is closing in and we are doing good. Trying halfway for awhile makes the final jump easy. I cant believe I was a city girl and I'm now really happy dodging wolves and chopping wood . My earth cellar is full , my wood storage is far beyond what I need and I'm just so blessed. I live alone with my two children so don't think that's a problem for you woman out there. Woman can use axes too , it just takes a little longer :-))
This looks like heaven to me. Love your videos. Found them because we are starting to have backyard chickens and have found your videos to be full of information. Thanks for doing them.
Awesome! You guys made it! Your new place is beautiful. A heck of a lot of work to do and you'll have so many learning opportunities as you go along. I'm in my third year on my raw land and just started building my permanent house last month. I had the basement contracted and will do everything else myself, including the design. I'm reading books as I go along and figuring it out along the way. I'm going to end up with a much better house than any of the builders in the area would have made, for a fraction of the cost. I have a good bit of experience with off grid solar if you ever have questions and you're having trouble finding answers for. I know I did. I don't know how it will be for you guys, but for me things ended up taking a whole heck of a lot longer than I expected them to. Don't get disappointed if your pace of progress isn't what you hoped it would be. It is a LOT of hard work. Just my 2 cents. I know you guys will be fine and don't really need the advice, but I can imagine you'll be getting tons of it.
Like I said I know you guys will be fine without all of our advice, but I just have to throw out one more little tip. If you can swing it get a small farm tractor with a front end loader. You will be amazed at how much help that loader will be in all your projects. The ATV is nice for hauling your butt around if you need that, but a tractor will move TONS of stuff and the loader is like a little crane as well as a material mover. I couldn't imagine being out here without it.
This gave me so many happy feelings!!! I am so excited for you guys and I am looking forward to watching you all grow with your beautiful homestead. Nothing like starting from scratch and creating exactly what YOU want! Congratulations!
I dream about having an off grid place, where it is beyond quiet., almost deafening, some day I will find my dream. I love your videos. I bought an all american pressure cooker, as now I feel more confident in using one. HUGE THANK YOU!!! best wishes to your new adventures!
Funny how our disappointments become our greatest source of gratitude. Had you not lost the "thousands" of other opportunities you never would have found this. So happy for you guys.
There will always be some miserable unhappy looser out there ... Them problem is, that they are in “Thumbs Down” world and will never escape from there 😉👍
I'm learning so much from your very informational videos. Awesome. We have been blessed with 79 acres and We are going to check it out this summer. I'm ready to purchase a Yurt for the property until we can build.
WOW! I Can't tell you how happy I am for you both and your family! I can not remember ever feeling this much joy for two people I don't even know... lot's of hard work ahead, but if anyone can do it, it's you two.......Wishing you lot's and lot's of joy and peace to you both....
I have missed you guys and so happy you found what you wanted. I will be following your journey again and thanks for letting us take part. I know great things are in store for you, your girls and the many animals I know will be part of your homestead. It is so beautiful where you are.
So happy for y'all! Thank you for bringing us along! We are doing the same. Our house is up for sale. It has been a c o l d winter on the deck! peace, love
Happy to see you guys moving onward and upward! My friends actually did this exact same thing at about the same time as you! They moved from the Buckhead area of Atlanta over to an 88 acre lot of land with no buildings, in Oxford GA. They've added a well, solar, and use a composting toilet system for sewer. They have done such a wonderful job with their property, and have worked their tails off to get there. Hurricane Michael just went through their area, knocked down a tree, which landed on the heating element for their chicks and adolescent ayam cemani chickens and lost 50 of them due to the fire it caused. I'm hatching some of their new eggs for them to help boost their flock back up now.
LOVED this video! I am so glad things are working better for you two! It was breaking my heart when you had that "rough patch" due to ef'ed up neighbors. Just makes my day!
OH How AWESOME!!! I have tears in my eyes, with happiness for you all!!! Many blessings and can't wait to see you flourish here!!! What do the girls think about the new homestead?
I came by accident upon your video about all your four-legged being gone and why and that makes me especially happy for you to see you've found a good place to pursue your dream. The courage and honesty it took to make that vid are impressive and rare. I wish you well, very well.
Recently we purchased 5 acres outside city limits, no zoning. Virtually no cell phone service, and wifi seems to be doing fine. Have been building chicken coop, run etc. Creating garden beds, and of course many improvements to the property. The good thing is that we have a solid plan for creating income from part of the property, and that will hopefully allow us to ultimately be self sustainable without outside work requirements. We live a fairly simple life, no cable tv, no consumer debt etc. We do have all of our eggs in one basket, so to speak, in this property. However the property should be “paying for itself” by the end of this year, 2023. A huge jump for our family, but progress is happening.
Yes U are back, now this is what I am talking about. Susan and I live in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge mountains and I feel that this move will make your U Tube Channel EXPLODE. Blessings Always Paul & Susan North Georgia
Congratulations I am so excited for you both. I just bought 2.5 acres in rural Nebraska and said goodbye to Southern California.. started a new adventure in life.
WOW, there you go, one door closes and another opens. Awesome, I'm jealous and envious. I wished I was you guys. Really looks like fantastic place and opportunity. Looks like lots of hard work but that's what life is all about and it sure looks like you guys are up to it. Don't get in a hurry, take your time and get it right the first time. God is truly Blessing you guys.
Very interesting watching this again a year later. All that worry about moving away from your "suburban" home, not knowing what the future would bring. From what you've shared with us since, it looks like it has worked out to be a fantastic change, even if a bit too eventful at times! Let's hope the coming year is another good one.
I just came across your channel... I’m so in love with what you do... I wish I was your picky neighbour... I’d love to have your guys as my neighbours... God bless your work and establish your plans for the future... you guys are an inspiration to me... it’s past midnight and I can’t sleep... this this the third video, over two hours already...
I watched this video when it came out last year, and saw it again today. There's nothing like the feeling of freedom you have on your own property in the country. I bought 23 acres in SW Ohio two years ago and looking to build a pond with the small creek that flows down the ravine, and really start to do more homesteading activities soon. As Hank Williams Jr. said........Country folks can survive! Congrats on your real estate purchase!
I haven't seen your video's in a while.....there are no words to express how happy I am for you to find acreage and the sale of the headache neighborhood you had....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get the patent on the land in your name!!!!!!
Now would be a great time for the both of you to get ham radio certified. In the event you need to communicate with others during an emergency. I wish you luck in your endeavors. Regards -Armando KG5TVP
So happy for you guys. The land looks so beautiful with all those pine trees. And it's nice to be around like-minded folks now. I have to admit that I was totally not expecting you to buy a property like this and build your own house! It will be a wonderful learning experience for you. People will really love to see how that goes. Take care :)
When setting up your power sources, AC has less line loss than DC ... So it makes sense to transmit from your source ( hydro or wind) as AC and convert to DC at your batteries for charging considering the distances ... Plus it gives you AC you can tap right into for your appliances and tools ... Use the batteries for nights and dark days ...
Ohmygosh!!! I was so sad when I saw that you had to get rid of the animals. BUT I AM SO EXCITED NOW that you’ve got this new place!!! I look forward to seeing more. I’m so excited for you!!
I hope you have a dog as a sort of alarm system and of course, the companionship and love and laughs they bring. Cats will help with the mousing that you're going have.
It’s going to be great watching you problem solve as you move along becouse your problems will be real and your solutions even more realistic as you don’t have some magical income to through at problems to fix them and neither do most of us your viewers we have to patch together things to keep the ship running very few can just walk into a store and replace things that break or wearout
CONGRATULATIONS !!! You now can embark on weaving your dreams into reality. Stay safe; stay warm; & have a wonderfully blessed Christmas -- your first at your new homesite. All the best to you & your family!
Love your videos. In my seventy years life has taken me down most of the roads you have traveled and will travel, some cheerful some sad but I learned from each one and life has only gotten better. I bought and developed a farm on forty acres lived there loved it and as age showed up I sold found homes for all the animals. Now I have twelve hen, live in a small town that allows hens, but life is good. A young family is enjoying the farm I established. All is good.
i was looking at some canning vids and came across your channel, the 2nd 1 was why you had to move on, i felt for you so much, and had to watch this video. its so obvious how happy you both are now compared to the last video. i am going to subscribe and come along for the journey, i am so happy for you both, best wishes for your future, a very envious viewer from the UK
You two are so awesome! I am so glad you got out of YUPPIE VILLE! Now you all can live the life you want and I so commend you all! You two are BLESSED!
Mazel Tov!!! I had not seen your videos until tonight. I posted on the other video before I saw this update. It looks like you are where you are supposed ( want and need ) to be. So Mazel Tov! I'm happy for you both.
This is great. You are making us excited to get our own property. We managed to sell our place in Vegas right before all of the crap hit the fan. We will just be waiting til things settle before we purchase. Excited to watch more of your videos and see the transformation.
CONGRATULTIONS GUYS! So happy for you. Hope you are building your house as near the center of your property as you can. Like you found out before, you never know what the future holds with the connecting property around you. Always good to have as much space between your house and the property lines, as you can. We found that out too. If we don't own the property around us, we have no control over what it becomes. Beautiful. Love the Appalachian Mts.
I commented yesterday on the neighbors and your goats, then I sign in to see this. lol! That's amazing! Congratulations on your 20 acres. Super jealous!
That's wonderful that y'all found a place. Congratulations! I can't wait to see what y'all will do with the land, building a house and getting animals.
Congrats guys! I am so happy for the both of you. I was worried for the longest time that the code restrictions and neighbors were going to beat you down and cause you to simply give up so hang though. Your journey has now truly begun.
For more OFF GRID videos, check out our playlist: goo.gl/BqNFxg More info in the description. Thanks for watching!
Second one I've seen as well. Can't help thinking this is how every slasher movie begins. JK, hope everything works out, they are living the dream.
Never been this happy for complete strangers before.
Oh my how blessed you are! It's so wonderful for you to have 20 acres of privacy to do your own thing and I'm very happy for you. Congratulations 4 years late but still great!!!

Your comments at about 14:00 are spot on. Often the most important thing to do is "nothing"
Well - what many in the world call 'nothing': learning the land.
On the wind turbine - get a weather station up on a tower for a year to gather data.
Looks like a bit of heaven! Can not wait to watch the progress!! Nothing but positive vibes and well wishes coming at you!
You two always look so calm, and yet I'm sure, under the surface, you're all doing cartwheels over this new opportunity. I look forward to watching all your developments. Have fun and share plenty of hugs. I need those on my personal adventures. :)
I was so thrilled to see you found your perfect place!
Your life has just really begun.....you're young, energized and ready to go. I wish you all the peace and joy this place will bring. When one door is closed.....our creator opens a window. God Bless !!!
I'm glad you found a better place for your homestead.
Congratulations on pulling the trigger and boldly going where your subscribers would love to be. Well, at least me, for one. Kudos!
How exciting!! Congratulations! I know this is 2 years old but oh well. So happy for y'all to have found this beautiful property! please forgive me for being jealous!!! Now that said, congratulations! may God bless you!
I just found your channel. I have to say the second video I watched was the one where you were talking about the mistakes you guys made with the animals. I just wanted to cry. I just watched the video about your awful neighbour situation...I'm so glad you're all out of there and can restart and enjoy!
Congratulations for the new property! And thank you for keep your homesteading dream alive so we an all continue watching your new videos!
So great to see you too so happy and excited! Your patience has paid off and now don't lose that skill to patiently plan and time your goals. I know you are so I am excited to be apart of your new life in the wilderness.
That's completely awesome I'm really happy for you guys I look forward to future videos and the best of luck to you in all your endeavors

Awesome! You guys made it! Your new place is beautiful. A heck of a lot of work to do and you'll have so many learning opportunities as you go along. I'm glad to see it worked out for you guys! We did the same thing. It's not easy, but nothing worthwhile is.

Who thumbs downed this video? I think it's awesome that you guys have found your perfect homestead property. Look forward to seeing how it progresses.
There will always be some miserable unhappy looser out there ... Them problem is, that they are in “Thumbs Down” world and will never escape from there 😉👍
I am so glad you guys finally found your land. I will enjoy watching you guys develop your homestead and thank you for bringing us along.
I’m so happy for you guys. God will guide you. God bless. I pray you have him in your life.

So happy for y'all! Thank you for bringing us along! We are doing the same. Our house is up for sale. It has been a c o l d winter on the deck! peace, love
Yay! Good luck on the sale!
This is a great video!! Your format in answering questions and explaining so much, is just top notch!!!

Loving it the opening "Somewhere in Appalachia". Don't put too much of your business out there. Loving your experiences.
Congratulations I am so excited for you both. I just bought 2.5 acres in rural Nebraska and said goodbye to Southern California.. started a new adventure in life.

So happy for you guys. Congratulations on finding your property.
Sorry you have to move its so hard. I use to live in North idaho and I miss it also enjoy your new home God bless
I haven't seen your video's in a while.....there are no words to express how happy I am for you to find acreage and the sale of the headache neighborhood you had....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get the patent on the land in your name!!!!!!
We are going to look into it to see if it is right for us
Now would be a great time for the both of you to get ham radio certified.
As you said bigger and better things. Enjoy your new home
You should be happy. Nothing like having your own. Looking forward to seeing the homestead grow.
Jaimie appears happy, but Jerry...totally content in the new surroundings. Well done guys. Cheers for sharing.
When setting up your power sources, AC has less line loss than DC ... So it makes sense to transmit from your source ( hydro or wind) as AC and convert to DC at your batteries for charging considering the distances ... Plus it gives you AC you can tap right into for your appliances and tools ... Use the batteries for nights and dark days ...
wow, been watching lately now reviewing the past, You two really went all in. Whew what a huge step.
I'm thrilled for you guys! Congratulations! I know lots of hard work is ahead but what a journey! Rock On!
That neighbor did you guys a big favor, nice find on property
Ohmygosh!!! I was so sad when I saw that you had to get rid of the animals. BUT I AM SO EXCITED NOW that you’ve got this new place!!! I look forward to seeing more. I’m so excited for you!!
Hi im in Australia and i just wanted to say hello and thanks for your interesting and educational content. Really supportive and inspiring. Cheers
All the best to you & your family!
no more worries of what neighbors might say ..all the animals you want now..congratulations.

I love that you are doing this! Thank you for sharing your adventure.
I am really happy for you all. The place looks great but one note a wind turbine is best with about 12 mph go hydro if you can it runs 24/7
so happy for you both.
i am so happy for you, follow your dreams and hearts.... blessings and cant wait to see the journey.
You both look so happy ! So glad for you !
I'm so happy for you, see it all worked out
That's wonderful that y'all found a place. Congratulations! I can't wait to see what y'all will do with the land, building a house and getting animals.
I am so looking forward to your journey; thanks for sharing!
So happy for y'all. The property is amazing and its great to see you two so happy. I can't wait to see everything to come together.
Congrats! Yall are going to be so happy there! Your property is gorgeous.
Congrats guys! I am so happy for the both of you. I was worried for the longest time that the code restrictions and neighbors were going to beat you down and cause you to simply give up so hang though. Your journey has now truly begun.
It is not in our nature to give up 😉
Congratulations!!
