Great informative channel. We have used various Benjamin Moore paint grey colors during our recent remodeling of our home, both the exterior and interior. The grey paint colors used were Coventry Gray for the majority of the exterior walls, Gray Horse for a small area of our front entrance, Wrought-iron for the front door and Cloud Cover for the trims. We were very disappointed with the color, Gray Horse as it took on a greenish color and did not match the rest of the exterior colors. In the end, that portion of the exterior was repainted Coventry Gray. We used a variety of colors to paint the interior. Stonington Gray was used for the living room, dining room and hallways. Only a small portion of kitchen needed to be painted. Simply White was used as well to all the interior trims, doors and ceilings. November Skies was used for the general bathroom. The laundry/utility room was painted Breath of Fresh Air. We were pleased with both the November Skies and Breath of Fresh paint colors. These colors enhanced the mood of being a place of joy and happiness. Highly recommended. Gray Owl was used for the master bedroom and Classic Gray for the master bedroom bathroom and the two other bedrooms. The color. Gray Owl was okay but lacked the vibe and energy I was looking for. It is a chameleon paint color and takes on more of a greenish tint in the master bedroom. Gray Owl looked a little drab and boring on the master bedroom's tall walls and high ceiling. It feels like there's something lacking. I should have stuck to my original color selection. Palladium Blue. I may eventually have the walls repainted.
Was in a big hurry to paint inside this 90’s house when we first got it. Now, this channel has really changed how i view interior colors. After putting up the paint boards, the hues i love online are not my friends in this house 🤣
I would love to see a video on yellow neutrals. Love the channel. I followed your color palette for the outside of my house with lawnwood blue, white and Chelsea gray by BM. It came out great! Totally coastal, beachy look. Love it! Now the inside, would like to do a yellow for the main color but I never see that.
Perhaps a dark ivory? It changes with the lights and weather, but unless we put a lemon yellow against it , it reads yellow half the time. I have white and tan trim, and a light teal accent wall. Hopefully you choose something you love!
Thank you so much for your advice. I agree, the color we have now is considered an off white but comes off as a butter colored yellow. I just wanted something a little brighter. Thank you! 🤗
Oh man this segment helps a lot, thank you. I have an open space kitchen w/ honey oak cabs with attached fireplace area w/ knotty pine honey colored walls. Not a lot of natural light b/c we live in the woods. But I am So sick of the contrasting wood grains. Either the knotty pine or the oak cabs gotta be painted, possibly both. Fireplace stone has greys, light browns, and subtle mauves and I really want to make it pop instead of being dominated by those knotty pine walls. When we put in new tile flooring a few years ago I incorporated the hues of the fireplace (looks great) and used similar thinking but much more subdued when we installed new counter tops in a generic Corian. They look fab, too. So now we're moving toward finally painting the knotty pine walls and then depending how that looks, possibly kitchen cabs in the summer. Since the floor and the fireplace do the most "talking," I think we need warm but understated colors. Boulevard or Cosmopolitan might just be the ticket for the walls. And Stone Harbor might work for the cabs. And Yea yea I know from a project perspective it might have been smarter to paint knotty pine walls and/or the cabs first, but being such a large open space high traffic highly used area, we can only tackle one aspect at a time. It's been a five-year project on and off, lol, but hopefully nearing completion for 2022. This video has nailed the color schemes I think we need, giving me motivation to move forward. Will be watching it again and again. Again..thank you!!
This is hard to visualize without seeing it, but in general, if you want to make something blend in, choose a color that is similar in warmth or coolness, and if you want to make something pop, go with a complementary color, or its opposite. So warm colors will make that fireplace pop, because of the gray in it and will subdue the knotty pine (which is also warm if you decide not to paint it). Cosmopolitan is a cool color so to make that fireplace pop, I'd lean more towards Boulevard.
I have been struggling with my interior color. I am looking for a tan to compliment my jewel toned furniture. Camel color leather sofa chairs muyed gold with design in muted red, charcoal black and a hint of soft pale green. Rich wood tones accent in furniture and tables. Can you give me some suggestions for south facing rooms?
An unrelated question.....we painted our walls ice breaker by BM. We have darker reddy oak floors and now I want to paint the cabinets. Too much work to change the walls😏. What would you recommend for cabinet color. Baseboards and window/ door trim is cloud white. Thx, Marie
Although we have been very happy with BM Revere Pewter and Balboa Mist, another one that looks great with those is York Gray. I always am of the opinion you cant go wrong with the Williamsburg colors, they are soft, tried and true. Would love to see you cover some of your best picks of Williamsburg (CW) colors, please.
I would like to see “color” like blues and yellows. I painted my living and dining room light shade of blue almost white called Stillness. Right beachy color for South Florida. Never had gray or beige never will.
You mentioned colors for bright lighted areas and how that would enhance those areas. Would like suggestions on basements that are darker that don’t get much light. Would you just go with lighter tones instead of the mid tones you just mentioned???
I might do a video on basements Tina, so thanks for this. Totally depends on the vibe you want to achieve. Lighter colors can brighten up a basement whereas darker colors can sometimes create that warm and cozy feel. All depends on what you want.
Hey, I have an open concept living room and kitchen I want to paint the living room wall agreeable grey what other colours will complement the kitchen cabinets when using agreeable grey on the wall?
I like Revere Pewter and the Sherwin Williams close equivalent Collonade Gray but man were done to absolute death a few years ago in new build homes in my area.
Can you do a review on Fog Mist by Benjamin Moore? I’ve been looking at EdgeCombe gray and they look very close with fog mist being a bit lighter. My great room faces south with windows in the east also. Which of these 2 would be better for a dark hallway? And I have a small open family that has windows east and west. Thanks , I’m looking forward to your response!
I don't have any natural light just sliding patio door, in family room, used sherwin willams Softer tan, In the afternoon until evening rooms looks dark and dingy .Have tall ceiling also .Looks nice in living room lots if windows though. Should I go with a white in Family room?. 80's home
Hi Robert, not sure if you mean compliment or complement? In general neutral grays look great with red. If you're looking for contrast to make that red couch stand out, then go more cool, something like a Coventry gray. But, if you're looking for something that might coordinate, have a look at something warmer like an Edgecomb gray. And have a look at my latest video on grouges, grays with a hint of red. ua-cam.com/video/Vdjf7aNVbqI/v-deo.html
@@rachaelbruesch6306 you can actually get it in a water based or oil based! Oil based tends to offer a slightly harder finish, while water based is much easier to work with
My son and daughter in law are renting a Brady Bunch house the owner doesn't want to sell until their mother passes away. It was the house they grew up in. It has pale yellow brick on the outside and on the fireplace. They are okay with painting the whole house a neutral, but not the fireplace. I need the perfect neutral that is friendly with that, but also the grays and reds my daughter in law loves. Sounds daunting, I know. But any help would be appreciated.
Hi Terry, I think if you stick with warmer tones, perhaps even greiges with a yellow undertone, like Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey or Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, it will subdue the yellow in the fireplace and still work with grays and reds.
Informative and well done. My problem with all of the colors reviewed: they would look great in an institution (hospital, classroom) in public spaces in a large apartment building where you are hoping to please everyone. In my home....nope! I need to watch the other video that you put out there.
Soooo, how do you get a colour consultation on a new build? I have watched every single video!! and still have no confidence. 😫 I've seen others on the street start with a greige that's turned purple! Something I really want to avoid. Is BM it? Will they actually come out to your house? I doubt the Builder is actually going to use BM but I'd pay for the consultation.
Google colour consultants in your area. Call decorators etc to see if they will do a colour consultation for you. DO NOT choose colours without guidance if you are not comfortable or you may not be happy with the results. A colour on a tiny swatch tells you very little. The light coming into your new home + the undertones present in ANY colour you pick + the colours in your fabrics and wood tones (and maybe even outside influences such as if you have a lot of trees outside your windows) will affect the colours you pick. FWIW - ignore the trends as much as you can. Tends come and go. Pick something you love and will stand the test of time and looks good with items you own that you intend to keep. Limit trend colours to things that are easily replaced such as pillows or bed coverings. The good news? If you don't mind repainting every 5 years or so, then do the trends!! I can guarantee as trends change you will want to change your colours. But most people can't afford to change their cabinets or their floors every 5 years. Choose wisely and LOVE your new home!
I can’t handle so many neutrals. The world is full of bold, beautiful color! Can you address color for those of us who have no interest in neutral colors?!
James, I love this channel, but can we hear more of the gray blue or even gray green...cool.? Not cool like smooth, but cool like cool colors..lol. Although you are. Please!!!!!

I like the range of LRV you decided to choose! Revere Pewter is Benjamin Moore’s version of Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray!
Actually Sherwin Williams Collonade Gray is closer to Revere Pewter in my opinion.

Can I paint my lower kitchen cabinet/ bottom one in HC172 river pewter in mat finish
