Kilborn chose not to renew his contract for the show in 2004, he later stated he felt that the late night shows were becoming "crowded" (Kimmel Live had just started in 2003) and he wanted to move into earlier time slots
I liked that theme from the very beginning and was sorry when the show and that theme music stopped. It's VERY nice to be able to play it on youtube. Very nice.
It's so hard to put Craig Kilborn's comedy style into words, but here are a few that come to mind: - Ironic - Absurdist - Faux-narcissistic - Insular Conan O'Brien is my favorite host, but not to the exclusion of other great hosts. Craig's show felt like this secret, cool little club where you had to know the password to get in. It wasn't for everyone. If you got it, you got it...but most people didn't. Craig did not give a single fuck what the masses thought or if they were confused by what he was doing. He didn't care if people thought he was a jerk because they didn't understand he was playing a character. He wasn't about to pander to anyone. CBS and Worldwide Pants wisely gave him all the latitude in the world to do his thing, and he did it with a wink and a nudge. Conan's attitude was always, "I'm such a nerd, I don't belong on TV with all of these cool, beautiful people. I'm a fish out of water. Thanks for putting up with me." Craig's attitude was, "Well, of course I belong here. Why haven't you been paying attention?" Now, I have heard a bit that Craig's character was not all that different from his real personality off-camera. He clashed with colleagues on _The Daily Show_ . His joke about Lizz Winstead was in extremely poor taste, and she quit the show because Comedy Central didn't fire him for it. Lewis Black called Craig a "prick."
Craig Kilborn brought 5 Questions with him from The Daily Show, and claimed intellectual property, meaning no one at The Daily Show OR Late Late Show can do something like that again.
Well, David Letterman owned Craig's show, and there was a dispute when Letterman left NBC for CBS about things like the Top Ten list being NBC's intellectual property. So, I suspect that informed Craig's decision to do that. He might have done it on Letterman's advice.
Yes, the short lived show was called "The Kilborn Files." It was ok, but didn't have the same rythem as his original late-late show did. Man, I loved Craig on late night TV> His smooth, mellow style and class I liked. Craig Ferguson is all right but some of the stuff on there gets repetative like the broken record talking skeleton. (Funny at first but gets stale after a while.) Craig did 5 Questions and Yambo. (My personal favorites.) And a real classy, rich set too. I miss him at night! ;-(
Why did Craig Kilborn ever quit this show? He would still be going strong and raking in the money but now he has faded from existence. I miss him and his quirky/snarky humor and his '5 Questions' segment and all the other 'odd' segments he had on his show. Where did you go Craig-O?
Bob Beddingfield Apparently he didn't see a future in late night and wanted to explore other opportunities. Also it appears he was kind of an asshole to everyone. I still like him though.
I missed seeing him as _The Daily Show_ original host, despite Jon Stewart obviously crushing it, but IMHO he was the last good LLS host on CBS, taking over from _its_ original host Tom Snyder, a gentleman and a class act. Craig *Ferguson* brought in raunchy humor and a stupid robot, and James Corden just didn’t know what TF he was doing.
I thought Chris wrote the theme for Craig Ferguson....LOL! Now that I'm hearing this, I obviously got the Craigs mixed up. This is definitely Chris Isaak's work!
Best late night show theme still. Imo
Miss those days
The best late night talk show theme of the post-Carson, post Letterman era.
Smooth, tight and very well produced. Like Kilborn himself.
Such nostalgia staying up til 1 am as a kid in elementary school
Denver Ballow same! CBS if you're watching, or your Google or Adobe analytics are watching, I'd pay for krackle or whatever if these were in there
Best time to discover late night talk shows. Sadly these days they are weak.
I was in college 😂
Hell yeah same here
@@joeaf11Kilborn was pretty funny when you were high

I got it and thought it was my type of jam.
Chris Isaak needs to add this addictive theme song to his expansive greatest hits collection
I agree.
Coolest theme on late night.
Agreed!
Craig ferguson is more cool
Agreed.

This song is brilliant.
I forgot how cool this theme song was.
So did I.
I always loved this song.
Remember this theme very well and watching back in the day
Never knew this was by Chris Issac. Now that hypnotic riff makes a lot more sense
Chris Isaac is Chris Isaak.
This song was on the CBS website during Kilborn's reign.
+sunnyskiesblue Absolutely amazing you were able to snag it. Thank you so much!
Great job in preserving this!
His segments with Buddy Hackett were absolutely hysterical. Miss this show so much. Ferguson's not bad at all, but Kilborn was terrific.
Dude take a look at Corden's incarnation... look how they massacred my boy
Man this and Late Night with Conan's theme are the 2 best talk show songs!
awill891 craig ferguson is better
@@jessica5497 Nope, not even close.
Chris Isaak CLASSIC for Kilbee!
I miss this show
Wow, this is the theme song I always remembered when I stayed up late when I wasn't supposed to around 98
This was 1999.
This and Letterman theme were the best talk shows themes ever.

I had such a crush on Mr. Kilborn. LOL

Reminds me of counting my waitressing tips.
Gibby, what up?
Kilby!
How in the world did you find this?
I used to smoke weed to this every night as a highschooler
You're so cool.
@@MooseCall I know
anyone know why this show went off the air ??
Because Craig left the show.
never heard this or of him hahaha!
Hip and urbane.. but Kilborn had the personality of a knock off hostess Twinkie
