REMOTE DESERT ROAD NAMIBIA, border crossing INTO THE UNKNOWN on motorcycles [ OFF ROAD ] 🇳🇦 S2EP12

- We crossing the border to Namibia from South Africa and go on the remote sandy dirt roads along the namib desert towards the fish river canyon. After leaving Steinkopf, there is just a short way to go to the border, but even these roads already take our breath away. After an hour the last checks on our bikes are done by the security and we are really in Namibia. We immediately stock up on water and food, because we won't see a shop again for the next few days! After just a few kilometres into our Namibian adventure, we hit the first dirt road, saying by to tar for the next few days. The beauty can't be put into words, and I think even the camera doesn't do it all the justice it deserves. Sand, remoteness, mountains, rising temperatures and the complete feeling of loneliness and seclusion is all that remains.

The 360 is a great addition to your video resources and your drone work gets better by the episode. A pleasure to watch!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate this
Well done, again great video. Enjoy it
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful country.Safe riding in that sand.
Thank you 😊
Amazing landscape, under that blue sky for mile upon mile, terrific outlook. A lifetime experience, great campsite, enjoy life 🙂NZ
Thank you! We are enjoying every moment. It is absolutely stunning there and I almost want to say that it is more breathtaking in reality than on camera.
New country congregation 🎉
Thank you! It’s very exciting
Glad to see you guys in Namibia. I spent 2 weeks there back in October and loved it. A lot of great places to see. Those roads are no joke especially when you hit those surprise river bed crossings and the road just nose dives down and back up.
We are nervous for the sand and indeed those unexpected river bed crossings! We were not sure if our skill level was good enough for Namibia but we will see how it goes. It is absolutely lovely and impressive. Such a difference from anywhere else we have been riding
@@thetravelingtortoises air down you tires will be the biggest help. on my 890 i drop down to 18lbs on the front and 25lbs on the rear. keep your speed up and standing with weight a bit to the rear and keep a relaxed grip on the bars and let it all float under you and don't fight it. you have your places pretty well picked out for this round?
Thank you for your advise, i realized I know the theory but to actually get my body to do it is something different… but yes we have a good idea of where we want to ride here in Namibia. But if you have recommendations its always welcomed 😃
Oh wow. I did that road last week in a bakkie. We saw so much yet seeing it from a bikes perspective was like I had never been there. Amazing. Those sand spots were the same ones I kept telling my wife if I was on a bike I would be very nervous. Well done. As a matter of interest, the Orange river is on the Rsa side. When you cross back to Rsa it is named the DF Malan river. We stayed @ Canyon Lodge and loved it there. Cant wait to see your next video.
Hi! Thank you for your message and watching! It is so funny how a road and place can be so diffirent when riding a bike instead of a bakkie. Those sandy patches are a bit tricky but we just take it slow its not a race, but it gets your heart pumping thats for sure! Very intresting about the river, thank you for letting us know. Hope you enjoy the reat of the adventures with us! 😁
Namibia eh, any desert ;-)
You okes are "Rock Stars"!!.... for handling those roads! ... well done!!... what beauty in Namibia!.... who thought a dessert could be so awesome!... inspiring!! ... Safe travels!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Really appreciate it! Namibia is something else… we love it. But it can be very challenging mentally sometimes
i love watching couple adventure....please be safe and careful since there couple tragedy in India when they camp. make sure if you want to camp...nearby citizen. God safe!!
Thank you for you concern, we have seen what happened in india with them and that’s horrific! this is also the reason we try not to do wild camping and look for proper campsites, even though anything can happen everywhere.
The Two most people I am very proud of. Good one guys. We love you.
Aw thank you so much! 😊such a lovely message!
A most enjoyable video, loved the vastness you rode thro'. Keep it coming guys😎
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. Some awesome riding still to come
As boring as border crossings can be there’s also something very exciting about them. Also there’s something so beautiful and peaceful about an arid desert landscape, with nothing and no one around.
The anticipation of going into a new country always makes up for the boring paperwork and waiting at a border. But all our border crossings have been easy and quick so far, so we are still excited when we get to a border 😁. Namibia is awesome so far with those long stretches of nothingness, breathtaking
Namibia 🇳🇦 is an amazing country, I loved my time there
The vastness just got to me, and you can be the only traveller's on the road for hours. Stunning scenery!!
We also stayed at the Canyon Roadhouse, very interesting!
Namibia is really a special place, the feeling that you get riding there is hard to describe.
Amazing!!
Really is amazing here!
I was born in Karasburg, you guys are so blessed to be riding in my land of birth.
Now I live in 🇨🇦.
Your birth country is absolutely stunning, we are very privileged to be riding here! But Canada mist also be an amazing place to live, opposite from namibia but beautiful.
@@thetravelingtortoises currently Canada is -27°C with snow cover, so my motorcycle is stored. It is beautiful and I cannot wait to do some more riding this year. I hope to make some video, and tell the story of the travels this year.
If you upload the videos on UA-cam, please let us know. Would like to see what it’s like to ride in Canada!
Lekker man Lekker.
Hi! Ja dit is n lekker plek om te ry! Haha!
Weet nie hoe jul roete langs loop nie.
pick up te speed and you will drive better , in the loose sand
Thank you! We know the theory but we don’t have the confidence yet to pick up enough speed that it actually works … we will get there
ja nee oefen en aanhou probeer is al wat werk , geniet elke oomblik van dit ,
Really guys this is soo boring
Luckily nobody forces you to watch it! Plenty of other UA-cam channels out here 👍🏻😁
So why follow them? Leave the channel...
Namibia - all I can say is WOW
Definitely WOW, even more so in real life.
@@thetravelingtortoises Yes, my wife and I did Namibia a year ago and two years prior to that, in a 4 X 4 - maybe it's time to do it on our V Strom 🥸🥸Great video - be blessed and safe
Sjo the beauty of all the nothingness 😂. I've done the Country Trax Intermediate course this weekend and the sand and rocks/boulders/loose stones had me sweating and get a very good workout on my 1200GS so I can relate to your struggles with sand. 😉🫣
We should probably have done a course before we went as well!
