  • First DIY video on the Lotus Exige S and what are we doing? A simple air filter change which also includes the snorkel delete and cleaning of the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor. Something everyone should be able to do at home.
According to the internet the snorkel delete is a good idea for more noise and less leaves in the airbox. The MAF cleaning is something I do every few years for all my cars because they do get dirty and its an important component to make sure your car runs smoothly!

The snorkel is an intake silencer. You'll get more noise but no more power.

Good clear video, thanks. I have a question though, how does a snorkel delete help? Presumably pulling the snorkel means that the intake is not getting cool air forced to it and is pulling hot air from the engine bay (as well as dirty air from the wheel well). Have you noticed any improvement... at least to the intake noise which is a bit dull in original configuration.

There's plenty of airflow coming in from the front of the side pod especially as I've upgraded to the larger GRP side pods now. The biggest benefit is not having that restriction now because its definitely a restrictive design, that plus the induction noise is a lot more noticeable, especially on downshifts. I don't really see any downsides to it to be honest...and...weight saving too? 😅

@@LueysGarage Nice, thanks for the reply, I might give it a try on mine then! 🙂

@@LueysGarage I believe another popular upgrade here is to put the TRD airbox in (the same one also used on the Lotus 2-Eleven). I got it on mine as part of a recent service interval, and it's a noticable improvement in throttle response and intake noise.
