So glad he finally kissed her! I wonder if she had not been a married woman, if this kiss would have happened a long time ago. So glad they gave us this sweet little kiss before he passed away. They both seemed to be genuinely nice people. I just loved them. So sad that Barbara Hale has now passed away. Like many others have said, it was comforting to know she was still living.
He thought HE was waiting!! Ha! Did he not know that probably anyone who EVER watched Perry Mason had been waiting for them to kiss if not from the first time they watched their show at least by the second or third time that all watchers were waiting!!! Some men can just be SO-O-O-O frustrating. Other than this one faux pas, I coold never find fault with either of them. After I earned a BS in education, I chose to become a legal secretary like my female idol to find MY Perry Mason. Couldn't find him but it wasn't my fault entirely. Even though I was hired to be the senior partner's Della, it didn't take me to realize I wasn't good enough for that prestigious position. More important that was I realized I'd never find another Perry. He just didn't exist!
And we've been waiting a long time for a camera to finally catch Della & Perry kissing. ;o) Always makes me happy to see this clip. Thanks so much! :o) :o)
I wonder if they practiced that kiss! I bet they didn't have to. I will always believe Barbara Hale and Raymond Burr were in love with each other. I will always believe it was much more than just a friendship. They were beautiful together. I will always love them both. ❤️
It looks like it!!I know DVD and MTM were the same way. And Lois Maxwell ( Miss Moneypenny) admitted her crush on Sean Connery and that he was the best kisser of all the Bonds she worked with. Some people just have great chemistry which is a blessing!
I agree with you on that. It wouldn’t be the first time either. According to DVD he and MTM had the real love thing going on despite them being with separate people. You can’t deny chemistry with another person and that comes across as such.

This covers anyone who in the genre isnt a cop or p.i. And this includes Perry Mason. Now it says in my book Perry and Della are lovers, the actual word used was paramores. There's a lot of kissing in the books, but according to Barbara Hale when they came to make the TV series, Erle Stanley Gardner was having an illicit affair with his secretary and decreed no Perry/Della romance in case people saw it as biographical. She also said with a twinkle in her eye that viewers didn't necessarily see what Perry and Della got up to "behind closed doors ". The chemistry between those two could suggest a romantic relationship without a word being spoken.

Perry Mason was originally a radio soap. When it went to TV it split into two with the soap elements going to the Edge of Night. THe reason for the split was because Earle Stanley Gardner was deas set against Perry and Della getting together.
They were so attractive, I wish they gave more subtle inuendos as time went on. But I heard that he didn't want Perry Mason involved because he wouldn't be as attractive to the women viewers.

He didn't want it for the show, but it WAS cannon in the books. And the later movies after PMR definitely allude to the fact that they are involved. I like th einnuendo anyway...

Raymond Burr passed away 24 years ago today (9/12/17) and is still loved by many. Perry Mason is shown twice a day in many areas.
