Honestly i would love to see Portable 3rd speedrun or 3U speedrun But i dont know... 4U speedrun and Iceborne any% sounds fun And congrats aswell for the world record
Bruh after 3 days of suffering from tigrex I stumbled upon this video and used your tigrex strat! Worked amazingly though I had to use a second shock trap since I can't combine items fast enough. Thank you so much
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 was my first MH more than 10 years ago and I'm still playing Freedom Unite from time to time nowadays. I'm currently replaying Portable 3rd after I finished it once in Japanese a few years ago (didn't know about the English Patch back then). I'm really happy to see that people still are interested in the PSP generations. This was a really cool speedrun and I think I learned some things after watching it. Keep up the good work :D

great run. it's amusing seeing the enthusiasm increased for monster hunter speedrunning since mhw. i bet people will do more of the old games. speedrun of quests already existed tho but there is always this rng aspect that make any run a tight moment.
Thank you! He's definitely an annoying one but the strat for him has gotten way better in my more recent runs, as with some other monsters too. I'm happy you learnt so much from this, it's one of the main reasons I do these runs so I can teach what I know. There's still much more to learn and I'm still discovering things as the months go by.
Light/heavy bowgun him and spam flash bombs. While he's in stunned mode, he wont charge anywhere, only tail relevant moves. Also you can spam flash bombs because its mhfu. Flash bombs bring justice. Also flash bombs are for pussies
I think the only Good HBG in MHFU High Rank is “Ladybug canon” (even though the attk is 204 unless you upgraded and Reloaded time is very slow) due of have 3 slots and have the best ammo (switch is “crag S lvl 1, 2,3 and Clust S lvl 1,2,3 they seem to be useful even have sleep ammo only lvl 1,2) and prolly you can Capture it.
Absolutely, menuing in a game like this can save a ton of time, not only in the quest but also while shopping. I've gotten a lot quicker since this run is old now, but it's nice to look back and see how I've improved
I actually bought a psp and FU because I'm to broke to afford a P.C. I started playing in 2018, and I'm about to finish the last village quests with Akantor armor and GS. The GS is quite strange compared to others, and it won't stop missing. It's probably just me.
Well fucking done m8, great run! You showed me the power of bowguns, esp the heavy one :3 mazereon did amaze me years ago. And now it is you. I just came back to the game and was going through the elder's quests. I will give the hbg a shot on every monster.
@@Rosiannachu A little update on my bowgun journey, damn they are powerful. Using DualBlades and sns for melee, for ranged hbg is more than enough. Lbg is also pretty solid on fast monsters and such :3 thank you again!
It's going to happen eventually, I just need to get my computer setup back up and running. Then of course learn the route and complete a run I think is good enough to submit, which usually means the MHP3rd will be WR when it's posted

Do you mean a full guide on the run or just the setup? A full guide would take a while to write out so I haven't done that. The setup is PPSSPP, playing with a PS4 controller and recorded with OBSstudio.

Because if I mess up the run is over, so I try to be real careful with my bombs. Other times I just need a second to think and there's no better time to do that while a monster is sleeping. There's a lot to remember and I try my best to not forget stuff
Seeing how they immediately upgraded the first heavy bowgun really validated my choice to do the same thing after experimenting with every weapon on the first few quests and training arenas.
Practice practice. 10 minutes is a good time to get for Longsword without all the OP stuff, just learn where his "area of threat" then running in swinging abusing his blind spots
Just saw the combat agains blangonga, and the way you killed him made me, as a *only* longsword player, feel sick... no true skill... just... bombs, traps... sorry but that is not actual monster hunter for me. Overall, good speedrun tho.
@@sergiusko4327 I hate using Bombs on Monster(Except Elder Dragons) cause it's unprideful and honorable to dirt a Video game majestic monster even it doesn't exist, fighting them on close-handed, struggling to dodge their attacks and learning their moves and speed is the main goal of the game to actually defeat a monster faster, cause they know that you will always return on that monster to get another parts for armors and weapons. For you to enjoy a fight and return not dirting a good fight.

For the Tigrex is a fully upgraded Bone Shooter (first basic heavy bowgun available at the store) with Power Barrel. For the Rathalos and Rathian I'm using a Shooter's Barrel (first basic lightbow gun available at the store) with a silencer. The reason for the switch is because I no longer need damage from the gun, instead the bombs do all the damage I need, so instead I switch to a light bowgun for increased mobility and lower recoil which allows me to shoot sleep bullets faster.

Thank you! What helped the most is having access to Lrg Barrel Bomb +'s. These things make all the difference and makes working out when a monster is going to be weak enough for capture a lot easier. Other things that helped a lot are better movement and menu'ing, just little things that save just seconds but over 3 hours really adds up. Finally being more efficient with capturing, for example setting the traps in a place where they would flinch into them after the sleep bombs so I wouldn't then have to guide the monster into the trap. I call that the Vyros Strat.
@@drgaz6235 It doesn't sound like a lot because it's been a long time since release but the 500+ where all mostly before Tri came out, then I moved onto that and poured a ton of hours until 3U and the chain continued. Since I started speedrunning my hours in F1, F2 and FU has gone up quite a lot, probably doubled for F1 and FU
I buy the other two rows at the beginning of the run when I talk to the trader. If you have the DLC then you are given Pokke points on any existing files, or any new files.

I'm playing this because my friend recommended it and I am fucking clueless on what to do. Can I ask a question? I'm pretty new to this I've been playing for an hour and I'm just running around with no progress, I'm new to this type of game and I'm very much uneducated on how to play this. How do you think should I start the game because I guess I'm too new or rather dumb for this (• ▽ •;)
Hey there! The best thing to do to start out is to play around with the weapons and see what you like. I personally would suggest the Sword and Shield to a new player. Explore the areas and get used to the maps, learn where the resources are, and have fun chilling.
You've wasted so many ammo at the shen gaoren, the most efficient way to maximise your damage with the penetrating bullet is to shot all the way in from the tooth to the head, on the side you lose a lot of damage. Also in the legs lead bullets are way more efficient. ^^
This is a bit of an old run, my aiming has gotten better since this (I promise). I'm not a gunner player if it's not obvious by the way I aim so knowing the weak spots of every monster isn't my strong point. The original plan wasn't to do the ending with bowgun at all but it kinda turned out that way. However it will be useful for me to know... is it worth it to shoot pierce shots at him when he's stood up? (Bearing in mind with no gunner skills) or wait for him to come back down?
@@Rosiannachu when he's up it's not worth to shoot pierce on the body, they can't reach it properly even with an end game bowgun and lvl3 pierce, and lvl 3 normal ammo are not very powerful so it's better to go for the leg with lead lvl 2 to 3, fire ammo on the body (not skull) or to use ballista or arena trap when it's available. ^^ For me the best way to damage him is to use frag ammo aiming the eye of the skull on the side, the lvl 2 - 3 are davastating for him when you hit the spot and then using pierce when he's down. Also if you can put it on the ground the explosive barrels are way more powerful on the skull, on the legs it's not very worth.
I take 3 Power Seeds so I can replant them after the next quest. I sell the rest for money. It's around 3000z per trip to the farm which really helps out.
im curious,why switch to LBG when you have a battle with diablos??? hope this will get notice A HBG user is interested.... Edit: I dont know but uhm,does the dmg of the bombs share with your current dmg??? or not??? Edit+: Maybe You didnt rely on your current dmg so you choose to bomb them rather to shoot i didnt even know that a HBG user does learn of new things erm...can u answer my question if you have notice this??? just read it would ya??? kidding aside but seriously im watching this for 3 hrs not skipping then learning new stuffs from this ahh maybe this video will make me a professional WAHAHAHA Edit++: Sorry if i've make this long enough but why you're so precise and accurate when a monster is ready to capture???
The reason I switch to LBG for Diablos is because the recoil is a lot lower with a silencer, meaning I can shoot the sleep bullets much quicker. Bombs don't scale with current damage, they do their own set damage which also ignores defence so the x3 damage when waking up a monster with a bomb is a lot for low rank. Hope this helps.
@@24xavyy The only skills I have are the ones on the Battle Armour, which if I remember right are Attack up S and Reload +1. Knowing when to capture a monster comes from a lot of practice, with a good amount of trial and error.

Speed runs are when someone studies a game and goes through it as fast as possible under certain conditions. Using cheats is never allowed on speedrunning leader boards, but glitches are if they have something called Any%.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The seeds I plant are Power Seeds, I then use worms as fertilizer, if that's what you're asking about. After they're grown I take 3 and sell the rest. The 3 I took are replanted and the cycle repeats.

I much prefer doing the full game categories instead of the individual quests. I'm hoping my runs can inspire people to run the older games too.

@@MrClean-lk6vi Normal shots are a good option for early game. Get a normal shot bowgun with ammunition of 9-12 bullets

From a fresh character it would take around 9 hours, there is a category for it called Nekoht%. I'll be doing it myself in the future

@@drgaz6235 It doesn't sound like a lot because it's been a long time since release but the 500+ where all mostly before Tri came out, then I moved onto that and poured a ton of hours until 3U and the chain continued. Since I started speedrunning my hours in F1, F2 and FU has gone up quite a lot, probably doubled for F1 and FU
Is there a reason you didn't carve twice from the Cephalos in Liver of Legend?
Cephalos can only be carved once in Freedom Unite without the use of armour/kitchen skills

I buy the other two rows at the beginning of the run when I talk to the trader. If you have the DLC then you are given Pokke points on any existing files, or any new files.

Hey there! The best thing to do to start out is to play around with the weapons and see what you like. I personally would suggest the Sword and Shield to a new player. Explore the areas and get used to the maps, learn where the resources are, and have fun chilling.

You've wasted so many ammo at the shen gaoren, the most efficient way to maximise your damage with the penetrating bullet is to shot all the way in from the tooth to the head, on the side you lose a lot of damage.
Also in the legs lead bullets are way more efficient. ^^
This is a bit of an old run, my aiming has gotten better since this (I promise). I'm not a gunner player if it's not obvious by the way I aim so knowing the weak spots of every monster isn't my strong point. The original plan wasn't to do the ending with bowgun at all but it kinda turned out that way.
However it will be useful for me to know... is it worth it to shoot pierce shots at him when he's stood up? (Bearing in mind with no gunner skills) or wait for him to come back down?
@@Rosiannachu when he's up it's not worth to shoot pierce on the body, they can't reach it properly even with an end game bowgun and lvl3 pierce,
and lvl 3 normal ammo are not very powerful so it's better to go for the leg with lead lvl 2 to 3, fire ammo on the body (not skull) or to use ballista or arena trap when it's available. ^^
For me the best way to damage him is to use frag ammo aiming the eye of the skull on the side, the lvl 2 - 3 are davastating for him when you hit the spot and then using pierce when he's down. Also if you can put it on the ground the explosive barrels are way more powerful on the skull, on the legs it's not very worth.

I take 3 Power Seeds so I can replant them after the next quest. I sell the rest for money. It's around 3000z per trip to the farm which really helps out.

Sorry if i've make this long enough but why you're so precise and accurate when a monster is ready to capture???
The reason I switch to LBG for Diablos is because the recoil is a lot lower with a silencer, meaning I can shoot the sleep bullets much quicker.
Bombs don't scale with current damage, they do their own set damage which also ignores defence so the x3 damage when waking up a monster with a bomb is a lot for low rank.

@@24xavyy The only skills I have are the ones on the Battle Armour, which if I remember right are Attack up S and Reload +1.
Knowing when to capture a monster comes from a lot of practice, with a good amount of trial and error.

The DLC will give you Pokke points, this includes new characters made too.

Speed runs are when someone studies a game and goes through it as fast as possible under certain conditions. Using cheats is never allowed on speedrunning leader boards, but glitches are if they have something called Any%.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The seeds I plant are Power Seeds, I then use worms as fertilizer, if that's what you're asking about. After they're grown I take 3 and sell the rest. The 3 I took are replanted and the cycle repeats.
