I virtually live in the castle's shadow - ok I exaggerate, a few miles away. Sad tale which one has to piece together. There is a hotel Gwenllian in Kidwelly/Cydweli. The narrow streets around the castle have a medieval feel.
Such a compelling story. I've collected every scrap of information I can, even from Gerald of Wales' writings. There needs to be a silver screen movie made of this woman. Her story is too epic, courageous and dramatic to let it go unknown.

Llywelyn a True Welshman BUT DO WE HAVE A STATUE OF HIM ? Or yes we do but its in the City Hall. What I would like to know is WHY? Why is it not on show infront of the City Hall or even infront of the Cardiff Castle for all Welshmen and Over sea visitor to see ? Six years on, and now it's Alun Cairns who is stabbing Wales in the back every day. The names change but the result is always the same. We need a new generation of Gwenllians, of Owains, of Llywelyns, of Dafydds (after he stopped betraying the Welsh, that is...). Of course, we want to gain our independence peacefully, but we need modern day versions of these people to inspire the Welsh to rise again.

Should add that Rhys ap Gruffydd (The Lord Rhys, Gwenllian's surviving son) had at least nine sons and eight daughters, many of whom went on to have more children. The branching out just one generation down from Gwenllian is pretty big!
her son that survived the battle had up to 8 mistresses in addition to the children he had with his wife (im related to one of the few that were actually birthed by his wife) so yes his family tree is going to be huge bc of that

There are two.
Not all Welsh people forget,stories that are passed down through generations,that are not on paper or in books,but are a legacy untold.
This story makes me feel proud to have the same name as such an amazing princess :)

Why do you say that? Do you know of some historical information that killed off Gwenllian's line so there were no further generations?
