My favorite card from this era is Infernalqueen Archfiend. It really did a lot for me in playground Yugioh with the pre errata text. Sometimes it would go to 7900 ATK
Injection Fairy Lily and Jinzo. Can't go wrong with them. Artwise, Terrorking Archfiend is one of my favorite card artwork of ALL time. The chess inspiration are very cool, especially for 10 years old me 😂 Edit : I forgot BREAKER, one of best cards in retro era. It even got banned 2 times in march 2007 and march 2008
I ran Zombies at my locals around June 2014 (found my old Pojos Tournament Report surprised it's still up!) and won 1st place. Locals were heavy into hand destruction decks so I countered them with Despair from the Dark and slap a beefy 2800 ATK on the field. I had other high level Zombie monsters like Ryu Kokki , Patrician of Darkness, and Vampire Lord so I ran Reasonings and kept getting lucky on special summoning since I had so many variety level of monsters. Such good times. I think I was the only one in locals that saw Zombie's potentials during this time.
This was such a fun video. I really enjoyed how Yugioh Legacy and Matt Nazarian help give more insight into this format. And we all got featured. This is amazing. Janjo is love. Janjo is life.
0:50 Technically, Yata wasn't good on release. It was the release of Pharaonic Guardian that catapulted it from an okay card at best into the most busted monster in the format. But then again, PGD came out just a month after LOD, so those 2 sets were almost like a dual release.
I'm so glad that you are doing this series. A friend of mine and I started off playing Goat Format again and it sparked our interest in other legacy formats. We recently went back to Yugi-Kaiba format and are working out way up. Thinking that we may stop at Tele-Dad though, he's not the biggest fan of alternate extra deck mechanics
@@JanjoZone I agree with you there. Synchros aren't too bad imo the deck just needs to be built around them but yeah I hate pendulums. I will say I'm done with modern though, it's just not fun anymore and the power creep is too much.
@@chrismiller3548 we've recently moved to Yata Format. Though he was saying he wants to try out Tele-Dad soon since he is a little more receptive to Synchro Summoning. I told him that early Synchro Summoning is easier than it sounds.
@@RenegadeGamer89 yeah definitely. Early to mid 5ds era synchro summoning was definitely easier. A way that worked to make it less intimidating when I explained it to older players was that it's basically fusion but using a tuner monster instead of poly
@@JanjoZone I hope master duel has some early format events in it. I did some small tournaments for goat format on dueling book once. It was a great time.
Why Gemini Elf? Skilled Dark Magician (to survive breaker/tribe) and Archfiend Soldier (searchable via witch) have the same atk but better defense. And these decks have no DD Warrior Ladies?
The only reason I can think of is because waifu lol. Slate warrior is awesome I use it in a fiend deck for goat format. Pairs extremely well with night assailant and other flip effect fiends like dark mimic
What is YOUR favorite card from this era?

@TheDiaryOfAnOxymoron Can't argue with that!

Scientist, can summon ryu senshi for no traps, balter for no monsters effect

I've seen a couple Goat format Zombie decks recently using Despair! Solid deck all things considered
Nice to see someone else being so amused by the duck. I recall almost losing my mind from a laughing fit I got from looking at that card!
We explored this meta back in high school, the creativity was endless. Sweet memories.

There are some extra deck mechanics I like over others. I enjoy Xyz and Link, but don't care for Synchro or Pendulum.

I'm doing this with a friend as well. The formats we are playing are Yugi/Kaiba, Critter, Android, Vampire, Goat, Edison, and HAT

Seems pretty interesting, love the Chanel. Been looking for a historic yugioh Chanel on here and this is the best one!
Thanks! You found the perfect place to be!
The intro gives me Yoshi's Island final boss fight nostalgia juices
I remember Sonic Duck. That card was way overpowered and downright broken.
Needs an errata
Archfiend started with Summoned Skull? You're definitely forgetting Archfiend Marmot of Nefariousness.
damn I wish I played back then.
There's plenty of retro communities to play older formats!

Slate Warrior is actually the best option, plus Skilled Dark Magician is tributable by opponent even without DM in deck this format

why are you making fun of Sonic Duck😭😭😭 that dude was my ace when combined with M O U N T A I N
Ojamas are King
Especially Ojama King!
whats with the minute long pointless tangent about dark paladin?
