How do you spot crypto scams?
Also I see a lot of people investing in "arbitrage" in cheap apps that are 100% a ponzi scheme
I lost $2000 recently in a defi wallet by moving to another. Same as you described. Really hurt me. I'm no newb either. This is why crypto will never go mainstream. Entire system is exploited by scammers top to bottom. Safer leaving it all on an exchange unfortunately. Also: I'm completely out of defi forever. Will only use trustworthy exchanges and cold wallet. Never going back.
I question everything
You look fucked up a lot lately
What mad shit you up to
I run everything through my Nigerian Prince Crypto Adviser... ;-)
Never get the receiving address from your scan history. Get it directly from the receiver you're sending it to. Or just scan the QR code
just dont be lazy and always copy the address from the target wallet. NEVER use history addresses
Address poisoning, wow. I've been guilty only looking at the very first and last numbers. NEVER again.
The address poisoning only works if you copy address from history and don't check it.
@@l.k.7940 Ahh, I see, thanks for clarifying, not quite as risky then, but still.
Many thanks for highlighting this scam method. Im surprised such a large amount would have been sent in one single transaction from a general risk point of view
Wow. Scammers will never stop. Thanks for the warning and tip.
My heart hurts for that poor soul who got scammed!
The only way wallet "poisoning" works is if you are coppying addresses from your transaction history. That just simply isn't how to do it.
Exactly especially with 71 million on the transaction. Who does that
@@didactic02somebody that deserved the lesson...
We all do that
for $71mil i'd triple verify every character of that address before sending it
Right? You should have a list of whitelisted addresses to send to. Not randomly copying with net worth of over 70 BTC.
Thanks for the warning!!
Thanks for the heads-up. Never miss a video.
Thanks for pointing that out.
You guys are excellent! Thank you
Why didn't they test with at least 1 million before sending all 71 million 😮 crazy
Exactly or a few thousand
That is the point - they had sent crypto to "that address" before.
Often the software or the interface are very poor and/or _glitchy_ or even *crashy.* I have seen it on nearly all.
Yes, they should confirm the FULL address - character by character. It would even be best if the interface would "lend itself" to a quick and accurate, visual verification check - or even some other check.
I suppose this is why Exchanges (centralized or even decentralized) and mobile devices only show the first and last 4 characters (if that). At some point they may develop a better (verified) way... some day, some one may learn to code, for real.
I am sure they did. Address poisoning makes it look like the address you are sending to are the correct one. When transacting any meaningful amount you absolutely have to check letter by letter. Use a ledger too. It isnt immune against address poisoning neither but it got an extra layer of security.
@@Chuck_N0rrisHe was using a hot wallet.
Rabby prevents address poisoning. Bento wallet does. Seems standard to implement whitelists as a security measure nowadays.
This scam actually happened to me a year ago. When I was ready to send crpto, a list of recommended addresses popped up like they always does, I clicked the first one, I assumed it was my coinbase wallet address, because it usually is. If was a scammers address and I lost crypto.
how much did you lose?
Step up your your game and show us a picture as an example. Especially for newbies. That would help a lot imo.
I don't get the whole poisoning issue. Do people use blockscan history or wallet history once they receive the test amount? And you should instead copy/paste from the destination instructions twice?
Always great content
Did this happen with the transfer of WBTC?
Thanks Heidi for keeping us informed about safety!!
Love your work Heidi 😃
Another great video from Heidi
Smart and beautiful! Thank you for the information 😊
Thank you for your continued support!
When you generate a new wallet how do you specify the first and last four characters to closely mimic a desired address?
The U.S. is rapidly approaching the point where individual income tax (which is technically unconstitutional, IMO) does not even make a tiny scratch relative to the accumulating debt. So we must ask, what's the point of continuing to collect income tax?

what can happen and in how long with whales massively buying?
And don't hold large amounts of crypto in HOT wallets!! Use it only for short term trading and suck it back to your cold wallet ASAP !!
I always send a minimum amounth before moving my crypto. Yes even on eth
Interesting that the grey scale inflows began the same day as the M2 money supply flipped
Activate WBTC clawback ohh that's right XRP only has that clawback system 🤔
Hmm.. if so, XRP is the safest way to send funds!!
Thanks guys on flagging that scam, wasn’t aware of it
I would never even send 100% of my assets in a single transaction. Chop it up into pieces. More time consuming but as I see it, every single transaction means risk. There are always multiple ways to fuck up.
At least these learnings are getting fewer. Thanks for the advice. Always check the full address.
That poor guy is probably going to get a notice from the IRS that he owes taxes on that Bitcoin because he sent it to another person...😂
I like these two , channel worth it
Wow, I had gotten in the habit of checking the first and last handful of numbers. Appreciate the revelation.
If the US (federal and states) would suspend all tax payments by tomorrow, the nation could survive for another 60 months easily. Fiscal doesn't cover the expenses anyway.
Maybe I'm missing something....but why don't these wallets offer a mechanism to be able to accept deposits before they are allowed to be deposited into your wallet?
How do you choose the address of your own wallet tho? I thought every Blockchain gives you a random address at the moment of the wallet creation, didn't know you could pick them.
There are a lot of tricks.
That why we need personalized addresses!!! There are already services for crypto chains like the ones used on the internet (DNS Service). I would use a wallet where we can send to anyone using their PHONE NUMBER (for example). BTW, in Portugal, BANK TRANSFERS will be available using the PHONE NUMBER registered on the destination BANK account (this will be live this summer and will even give users the NAME of the destination BANK account holder)
A draw-back to using personalized addresses is the ability to track your financial activity, but heyy . . . who would want to do that?
But when your sending to an exchange or a hot wallet, wouldn't you just copy your incoming address from your exchange account or your wallet? That person who lost 71 mil in wrapped btc, didn't that person just copied their sent address from their account.
Thank you pretty Heidi 😍😘
WOW...Ive always just looked at the last 4 numbers of a wallet address!!
Do you two own any grayscale funds
They said the buy spot bitcoins
No
Self-custody is crazy. Anyone can make a mistake and lose their money.
True. I don't know a single OG who hasn't stumbled on something and lost some/all of their money.
That's why crypto is for the grown-ups.
Crypto self custody just sucks and is not suitable for the mass. Crypto devs still dont get that (or dont want to…)
Certainly nobody should put all crypto coins funds or most into a self-custody wallet etc.
I feel like I’m in the twilight zone
Heidi you look equally or even more gorgeous without your makeup on! Keep shining! ❤
On a future video could you explain the SCAM in more detail and show us exactly what to look for in a practical sense. I am not sure Why I would see the scammers wallet address in the first place and then copy and paste it to send crypto to. thanks in advance.
Are exchanges at risk of having these poisoned wallet addresses?
Well that's terrifying. Thanks tho
I consider myself a rather savvy crypto user, but I wasn't aware of this scam. Will definitely keep an eye out. Anyone could have been susceptible to that one; pretty clever. Thanks for shedding light.
"Normalize at those levels" that's not how markets work.
Hi! I’m new to investing. Can you please explain?
Todays film expect a more thought out ending and less reactionaryism. They're on a boat with nothing to do but plan ahead. Anybody on Earth would have bolstered their offensive and defensive capabilities before they even set sail. The unrealistic ending destroyed an otherwise, good, film.
They don't tax you because they need $$$. They tax you because they need you to rely on $$$. You can only pay your taxes in $$$ and that's what makes $$$ valuable.
Sorry that was me, but it was .47 of a Bitcoin
I was under the impression the addresses were randomly generated. How can a hacker design their own address? OR do they generate an address and then using the last four characters on each end, search wallets addresses to match theirs and then target those wallets somehow? I am not a blockchain searcher so have no clue how this is being accomplished. Any help?
They generate them and search for matches on the Blockchain, then attack them.
Try to remember to look not just at the first four and last four characters but also in the middle otherwise hackers can fool you...
@@CryptoTips So it was not targeted? just blind fishing?
@@CryptoTips Toby, how can the scammer “attack” a wallet address? Fishing needs an email or cell phone attribution, so I am struggling to see how they can attack a wallet. Any further help?
@@CryptoTips yes they can generate but they have to generate a lot of addreses ... in the trillions
Who copies their wallet address from their transaction history!?😮🤷♂️ Always use the "Send" button from your wallet, to prevent these kind of mistakes.

I wonder if the scammer retired after that score,,,my guess is probably not,,greed knows no bounds.
Are there any left wherever you found her dude? Well done for even being qualified for each other! You guys are amazing what an inspiration dans le nomád capitalizique. Do not forget to include férmente cabbage in your journey.
Tu adore.
That little blip on the end is the most significant feature of that chart. Anybody serious about analysis instantly sees signal in that.
I hope it was BlackRock who got scammed.
Bitcoin and make-up
👍
Thank you. And you're so beautiful ❤
❤
Good thing I don't have 71 BTC to lose. Maybe 0.00071 BTC. :D
Pronounced Crapto aka Fiat.
Maybe it wasn’t a scam after all…just a boating accident in light of the latest KYC crackdown…
She's looking ruff
The natural look is more appealing to me.
Glad you got something out of the video. Now go make mommy make you some more pizza rolls.
@clutch2827 lol OK pal

Everything is time.
First of all, they had wrapped bitcoin. Enough said.
Why not take a few minuets to make yourself presentable to your audience and your partner. You look 20 years older without makeup! Toby is a very handsome man. He might start noticing all of those lovely Senoritas there in Portugal. The women there are beautiful. Even I would have competition there.
What a cucking funt.
Love you too!
I guess they deleted my original comment. You are either a dude or an incredibly shallow person.
