Very nice work Daniel! Is there a fixed bend in the wing to have lift? I wonder how it can fly.

Thanks. Not bad for a quick experiment. Yes. Trailing edges are fixed into permanent ‘thermal mode’. Will fly it this weekend dry weather permitting.

RE only may or may not do well. We will see. I think this really would need flaperons to perform its best, but of course the real version of this is getting them

@@banko444 Yes, I also noticed that if I turn on the thermal mode, I can stay a little longer even in dead air. My problem is I can’t make a normal hinge for the ailerons. They float, move and increase air resistance with each throw. Only what You suggest building method, my lacquered methodical "AlatyR" plane doesn't have an aileron lift when throwing, because I think the medical tapes hold up pretty well. I’ve been thinking about solving the hinges with a quick binder, as bracesport did here on one of the other forum. I just don’t know how to measure the exact connection points. I was also thinking of putting a tensioning torsion spring in the ailerons as well as the tails to have a little tension force as well, but I think they would still float.

@@goldenfish77 yeah. That’s why I don’t use the tape to make ‘z hinges’. I use a strip of Blenderm on the bottom. And then several smalll strips of blenderm in to the groove across the top. I’m Not getting any lift or flutter on any surface with that.

So the top layer of foam board is sanded in to a air foil the bottom layer with the paper for strength ? am i right ? i want to build one i hot wire foam wings but never tried foam board

Yea correct. My third one I’m flying now has turned out the best. Hotwire cutting XPS wings is FAR superior to any foamboard method. I’ve just built a few of these for the challenge of getting them to perform at all. Which they do. :-). But they’ll always be dissapointing when compared to any ‘real’ dlg.

@@banko444 thanks for the reply back I have always been impressed with Mr Boas foam board dlg s but never figured out how he sanded and shaped the two layers i really like Your method all i have is a base ball park to fly in and think i will build a BUG with your method for the wings just for fun The curve of the Bug wing would be hard to hot wire anyway lol Huge Thumbs up on your videos

He just posted his step by step yesterday. Check that out. Lighter than how I do it and more fragile. Depends on what you’re going for.

you can spray adhesive the some foam boards together then hotwire your airfoil...........your also better off making 2 wing halfs for a 1m model
