Nice spot!
Nicely Dan.
Cheers Steve. Thanks. :-)
I am happy to see you flying again! Very nice chill flights in the sunset! Your glider has a fantastic launch height. I am waiting for the right weather and time to fly again.
Thanks Peter. :). I actually fly at least once a week. I just don’t film it quite as much as I used to.
Great huge launches, OMG! Your glider has a nice performance! You have a lucky hour as you said. Flying is so relaxing. Unfortunately our nearby park is very small for DLG flights, but my motor glider can reach thermal air, so it was fantastic that I was afraid of the thermal taking my glider away. Unfortunately my wings was too weak for fast flight. So I am in work to build a new strenghtened wings. It is nice that in 200 m height there are huge thermals which can cause huge lifts, so it is useful if we have a spoiler or breaks. I our park it is hard to reach a proper height from the surrounding trees. But in about 100 m the air is so smooth. I wish you the best Daniel, and I was happy to see you flying again!
@@goldenfish77 thanks Peter. Cool direction you took with your latest build there.
Wow, what a flight! It just does not want to come down!
Just stumbled across your video... I am seriously thinking about purchasing one of theses DLG`s. Do they thermal ok?
@@Heathfloors yes they do with some flying experience. If you’re new to dlgs and especially if you’re new to sailplanes, a 1.5 m glider is a better choice. The longshot 4 is the best value for something that will fly well. Or a decent used competition dlg if you can find one. I’ve stopped building and flying 1m models if that says anything. I’ve stretched my next scratch build to 1.2m span and have a couple 1.5m models in queue to build as well.
Beautiful flyer, great way to start the morning.!
Good job friend, 👍
great to see you in the air again - looks like a gorgeous flying spot!
Excellent as usual Dan! Thanks for sharing
Lovely
Wow...I like that launch from 3:36!
How much is the average launch height?
Misspeak here. Cg is 81mm from the leading edge. Just to correct.
That's really good, any videos on the wing building 🤔 have been thinking about building something similar. 👍🏻👍🏻
So many DLG Made. I,m always fail make it
Very nicely flown!
oke 😊
nice - a bit of acro is good for the soul!
Super fun yeah. I’m going to make the v tailed sloper versions of this model with a forward tow hook, so zip launches off a short bungee are possible. Shoot it up to 60m and then acro flights.
@@banko444 that will be super cool...'
Beautiful. This glider flies beautifully and you as a pilot are an expert. Thank you.
Thank you, but far from it. I’m very happy with how this one flys though. :-). I think the next one stretched to 1.2m will be the final iteration of the design.
I'm really impressed by the performance of AG03 airfoil...nice one man
Yeah man. I really think that at the smaller spans it’s probably ‘nearly’ as good as any ‘fancy’ airfoil like a synergy 2 or zone 2. I’d bet the difference in L/D would be much greater at 1.5m though. I’m about to build a 1.2m ag03 wing though so we’ll see how it translates to a bit more span. :). I don’t plan on building anything larger than 1.2m from scratch myself.
Wow Daniel, it is beautiful!!!! I like very much your full circle turning launches, I think you toss higher with these movements. OMG what rols you have done! Bravo! I like your perfect acro flights very much! Thank you for sharing!
You’re way too kind Peter. It hurts my back to do a full discus launch so I don’t do many of them anymore. Is what it is. Does give another few meters over a side arm only though.
So I accidentally deleted the last dudes comment…. But to respond…. No. This is scratch built. It’s not any kit man. lol. There aren’t ‘kits’ for gliders like this.
Real nice work Dan looks great flys awesome, are the wings made of foam board, if not what are the made of please.Seams to be a bit robust and fly to well for foam, i would really like to have a go at building one like it Thanks for sharing Well made.
Thanks. And no. This is the ‘real deal’. Hotwire xps foam core. Carbon spar and shear webs. Vacuum bagged fiberglass skins. It’s an involved process. Worth it. But very involved. Until molds and CNC cut cores became the norm, this is how most sailplanes were made. Some still are.
Nice build Dan! Looks tight. :)
You have a great flyer there, Dan!
Thanks Kirk. :)
nice flights man!
Thans Ivan. :-)
How airfoil use ??? Good job is very impressive
Ag03. Simple to build at home without a mold or even shucks as it’s flat bottomed. The tails are built flat bottomed as well.
Wow Daniel, your glider is very cool now yet! I like your high launches and I like this glider's turning and gliding skills. Really great work!
Thank you Peter. :). Have you been able to get out and fly some? I hope so.
@@banko444 Yes, I have been able to fly with MD2 and my white 1,5m DLG too in the weekend. So I'm glad we flew. ;)
Looks like it flies great Dan, if you ever wanted to sell an ARF kit at a reasonable price, please let me know. I'll even take some of your flaws😁
Thanks! The next one I’m building right now is the final iteration. They do take a lot of hours to make and I don’t work for less than $20 an hour. So unfortunately my sale price would be cost prohibitive for any buyer. :). Not ever going down that road. Sorry. :)
Excellent Dan!
Very nice!
Beautiful flights and nice launches! Your homebuilt glider is awesome!
Nice fly
What kind of height are you getting with these launches, hard to tell from the video? Not to sound insulting but it seems high considering you're not even giving it a full effort by spinning.....enjoy watching your progress! Keep up the great work!
Well. I have a lumbar issue with which a full discus launch hurts. So side arm only for me. But even so I’m getting this plane up about 40 meters. Which is more than high enough. I don’t fly contests, so chasing every meter of launch height is pointless, especially since launching harder than this is painful for me.
I’ve made some revisions to the design. The next one will be even better. Thanks for the support though. :)
@@banko444 Oh I'm with you with the back problems! I was just baffled how high your launches looked without the ole wind up, that's all! I look fwd to your next iteration!
Excellent work!!
Thanks!
very good, how much does it weigh?
161g
You and ur dlg have refined day by day. Beautiful.
@@mrmanojrsthanks! It’s almost where I want it to be. Just have to shed about 30g now. :)
flying well! Remember, anything over 1 min is in lift!
Thanks Phil. :)
Shaving 30 grams would be amazing. I hope you take us along for the ride! The dlg you were flying looks about as good as it gets! Very nice.
I don’t really do build videos. Just completed builds. But I do chronicle each step on the page I started on rcg. ‘Scratch built dlg on the cheap’
@@banko444 I'll check it out, thanks!
Always love the launch of DLG's straight up and solid
Yep. This one isn’t bad
That's a stiff wing.. nice launch
Gracias Ivan. Yep. This one is good. The next one will be the final product I believe. Almost ‘there’. Design is good. Just needs to shed 30g.
Awesome glider! I like your weather condition!
Thanks Peter. :)
Very good.
Nice performance in wind conditions ✌️🍻
Yep. Not bad. 😎
Very nice flights Daniel! Your new glider is epic, I congratulation to that build! Your head camera is really nice for shoot those high launches. I like it very much.
Just my phone on a headstrap. :). Thanks Peter.
seems to have a good sink rate with those SALs
Cool beans indeed!
Very nice flights in that hard wind! What a high launches, OMG, I like those!
Excellent Dan!
Wow Daniel! It is a fantastic diy glider! 👍
Dan, that is going to be a winner!
