Providence discusses pancreatic cancer breakthrough

  • Doctors at the Providence Cancer Institute (PCI) in Portland are celebrating the successful application of a new immunotherapy to drastically reduce a patient's tumor size.
    The treatment, published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine, came about when Kathy Wilkes of Florida reached out to Providence from across the country. Her pancreatic cancer was back and had metastasized into her lungs.
    "It's one of the deadliest forms of cancer," said Dr. Eric Tran, with Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, a division of PCI.

    I live in Portland and my Dad died last year of inoperable pancreatic cancer. I wish he could have been able to take part in this treatment. He was diagnosed at stage 1B but due to the location it was terminal no matter what we did.

    Dr Obulor you really have a way of doing things and making it really perfect, I still can't believe I am cured from cancer. I really didn't know what else to do than believe in your medicine, thanks so much for curing my cancer #Drobulor.
