Awesome, thanks for sharing the 5 points for DIY CO2, that's very helpful. All the best Sinto~
Good Try
Most common CO2 Kit (Ista) has aluminum cylinder. Do the refilling guys refill an aluminum cylinder?
Thanx
The best way of injection of CO2 into the water is before the pump propellers, then it dissolves just perfectly! Do this through a medical needle. stuck in the water suction pipe. You do not need any diffusers
Do you have advice on lowering the pressure once it’s gotten too high ???
Hi Sinto ...I just purchased this DIY CO2 reactor system and I have a problem where the Citric Acid is emptied into the Bottle A Baking Soda after running it only for about 20 minutes. I have followed the manual detailed setup instructions . What did I do wrong here ?
Don't do like that if you have fish in the aquarium they will die of CO2 poisoning. First of all, all knobs should be tight press bottle A so that citric acid is added to bottle B which releases CO2 note the pressure gauge if needle is in green zone slightly release the CO2 by turning the knob above bottle B. Read the manual and check how much bubble per second is needed for your tank it varies depending on the width of aquarium. Set the bubble per second accordingly. Once bubble per second is set keep the sucking ball valve just below the surface of liquid in bottle A, this will keep the regulating the liquid in bottle A and bottle B. I use it like that so the liquid regulation runs of about 12 hours after that there is no liquid is there to be sucked in bottle A as the ball suction is set just at the surface as I said earlier. Next day lower the suction ball valve just below the surface and press A again to get the green zone area. Do this every day when you want to give CO2 supply. Hope it helps.
@@SintoJoseph Thanks for your reply. It looks like we have to make adjustment to the tube level in A as and when necessary . But my case I don't have a magnet to make the height adjustment in A. As the tip of the tube is a mini plastic ball , no metal part in it to be magnetized . Any suggestions?
Your CO2 Diffuser is old version I recommend returning it and buying new version with magnetic ball suction.
@@SintoJoseph Thanks for the advice
@@kschan38 the magnet is inside the plastic ball. Your kit should have come with a small exterior cylinder of metal. The magnet will still work even though it's inside the plastic ball.
knobs in pressurized co2 system can also get faulty..
i have seen guys pull their hair in search of a new control valve
Hi, brilliant video. I bought a DIY CO2 system slightly more advanced than your one. The one that uses plastic bottles but it’s made from aluminium. I have just bought separate a solenoid valve that is supposed to fit between the bottle B and the bubble counter. But I’m not sure if the nuts will fit.
I saw in your system that you have a solenoid valve sitting on the bottom of your cabinet, far away from the bottles possibly in the middle of your hose.
MY QUESTION, please: if the nuts/bolts of my solenoid valve don’t fit my system, would it be ok to install in the middle of my hose?
Thank you
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found the video helpful! If the nuts/bolts of your solenoid valve don't fit your system, you can definitely try installing it in the middle of your hose. Just make sure it's securely attached and doesn't cause any leaks. Good luck with your CO2 system!
How do you avoid number 4? I have this single problem for my diy and its killing me constantly doing new batches.
I found no solution for that I recommend the professional co2 kit. I switched to it and I am quiet happy about it. Check this video ua-cam.com/video/Hc6ddHlGFNs/v-deo.html
Dino saur, there are better diy CO2 kits than the one featured in this video. I completely agree with this video about most of the points although I've never had any issues with leaks or the mixture. The faulty knobs are definitely a huge issue.
Since this video was made, some better designs have been released, and I'm now looking into buying a couple of them from eBay. If you want, I'll get back to to you and let you know how they go.
invest one time in a CO2 regulator. then get an empty fire extinguisher. thank me later
@@Aquascape_Dreaming The stainless steel one? I'm interested in your experience with any set!
My needle valve got stuck closed. How did you release the pressure?
Only way to release pressure is to open bottle cap slowly or turn the knob so that gas goes out the diffuser in the aquarium but that can cause co2 poisoning and kill fish if kept open for long.
as for the refill costs, surely the cylinder refill lasts a lot longer than the DIY refill ?
Would you have any idea as to how many DIY refills correlate to 1 cylinder refill ?
Not sure they will be many. I had to fill every month just with one drop per sec on DIY. But my 1 litre cylinder is lasting for more than six months now.
okay, so that's at least 6x provided the bubble count is identical.. that's as precise as i needed to know
I use it for 8 hours daily with light. switch on light after one hour you switch on co2.
How to stop reaction?? i used magnet to pick the pipe from citric acid but it's still making co2,
I don't know whats wrong the reaction should stop. May be there is some underacted citric acid. I recommend you should piggy bank some money for professional CO2 system. I made a video about it ua-cam.com/video/Hc6ddHlGFNs/v-deo.html
@@SintoJoseph My question is "How do i stop co2 at night?? my acids are producing co2 continuously
@@iamsandhu8664 same
@@Fors3s(my personal experience) once you add citric in the baking soda it will never stop producing co2 until all the baking soda reacted, add less amount of acid in baking soda so it will produce less co2 and leave it (as you can't stop reaction)
What was the yellow shrimp you had called?
pls share the timestamp
Why do you use a magnet in the citric acid bottle?
It is used to shutdown and turn on the system. Dip in the solution it will turn on and take out it will shut down.
@@SintoJoseph The weighted tip inside the citric acid bottle is magnetic. The magnet is to be used outside of the bottle to lift that tip up out of the citric acid solution if you need to stop the reaction. The magnet does not go inside the bottle.
@@MichaelRainabbaRichardson do you perhaps know what I can use inside the bottle to attract the magnet? I tried attaching a bolt to the tubing but even with a strong magnet it does not grab it and when I try to drag it up it immediately drops. Any suggestions or other alternatives? i also put a small plastic valve in the tubing between bottle A and bottle B but it leaks when I shut it
Will it blast?? That's the creepy thing.. Better use sugar and yeast, i see many people tried and no blast issue😊😊😊
But the yeast reaction will conatantly produce CO2 whereas this method has it under control depending on your output needs. I made the yeast one at first and the reaction was so intense that my fish almost immediatelly began to show too high CO2 level symptoms.
I then remade my setup to citric acid and baking soda and so far so good. I did make it without all this special equipment, just plastic tubing, non return valve, flow regulating valve, bubbling stone and hot glue.
@@Kyleman51 why? have you experienced an actual "blast" to actually say that it could blast? Also, sugar + yeast version CAN BE REGULATED to desired output by using a simple hose clamp...it my be 24/7 but for as long as the CO2 drop tester don't go yellow, the fishes will be fine.
Citric Acid + baking soda = CO2 whose pressure could barely reach 90 psi...soda PPE bottles were created to hold highly concentrated soda drinks...these bottles can withstand up to 140 psi of pressure...this pressure is almost the same as common 1/2 HP compressors.
Have I tried to blast soda bottles? Yes - i did it out of sheer fun. I went kaboom at 146 psi. Have I tried the DIY CO2 bottles? Yes. The highest possible yield of pressure it can give out every time is around 20-25 psi...not unless you pour all the citric acid into the baking soda solution...which I did and it went up to 88 psi...still, it's not enough pressure to blow a soda bottle.
Sugar and yeast can explode too. Yes, citric acid and baking soda is more volatile, but it all comes down to the quality of your equipment. I'm done with this particular diy kit. There's better ones available.
@@pchykins6680 can You switch of this diy deffuser at night?
My citric acid is not reacting with baking soda 😭
Whats the issue & how to solve it ???
Throw your citric acid and baking soda in the trash
And make a diy yeast and sugar it's the best in diy section I have been using from Last 2 months no problems
6 dollars for refill, WERE???,in my city it cost like 12 dollars the mini gotcha co2
The op seems confused about how this bottle is to be refilled. it is intended that you add your baking soda and citric acid into the canister, then add water and quickly close it to build your co2. No need to go to the gas station.
Never tried this way so can't advice on it.
Is it safe to have co2 tank in bedroom
not if you live in very tiny apartment
@@SintoJoseph my bedroom in 12X12 room
ok now 5 times more expensive is a myth.. where in am in NewZealand initial costs are $45 for a co2 regulator from ali express and a sodastream bottle $60 plus diffuser accessories total 120 for my 60 cm tank that will last me 2 1/2 months at-least . now doy co2 with solenoid costs the same !!! $45-50 !!! ok i dont have to buy the co2 tank but the pressure is jumpy and causes bba ! The longterm costs of pressurised co2 is cheaper than diy co2.
dont waste money go pressurised
@@cheenaxe Yeah I just upgraded from DIY and also got a regulator from AliExpress. I considered buying sodastream but even those are expensive to refill. In the end a got a 5kg co2 fire extinguisher which is cheaper to refill and much larger than 400g sodastream.
@@cheenaxe and you can probably find a cheap fire extinguisher for $40 AUD
Not where I live. Bought a diy c02 kit for 20 bucks. Cheapest c02 kit available is 45$ for my tank. Then, its 20$ every three weeks for a new c02 canister. DIY is much more efficient when baking soda Is like $2 and will last a while. Citric acid is 4 bucks at walmart. 26$ for c02 diy kit in total for me.
its leaking because you're taping to prevent gas leak. You need to use Aquarium sealant sillicon.
Other things are informative . thanks
nah just vasiline
Can You switch off this cheap DIY diffuser at night?
Yes need to lift the pipe dipped in solution.
@@SintoJoseph thank You
Citric acid is ₹24 for 200 grams.. and baking soda is ₹20 for 200 grams.. Total ₹44
I got 500 gm of each at 350 INR each.
I got ripped off here in Canada for citric acid. $21 for 500grams! At a bulk food store too. I checked Amazon and bought 10lbs for $30.
Marketing & advertising video.
If you have to Buy costly CO2 set, GO FOR IT. Just dont justify your point of costly co2 set. Have so many advantages in DIY co2, and you are not ready to list any.
I found the costly one more adequate for my lifestyle.
@@SintoJoseph but that doesnt mean diy is useless.
Can’t understand a word your saying ?????
closed captioning was my solution. thank me later
He's from punjob
You have not used check valves in 2 important places, also look how much co2 going in to tank way too much such a bad video
Only one check valve is required to prevent reverse flow of water. Bubble per second is controlled by knob. Now how this video is bad?
Should have a warning its not understandable or in english...
bruh its clearly english? he has an accent but its clearly understandable
🤣🤣🤣
