Filberts are great. They're really easy to blend with in portraits but can also give you really fine lines. Great tip with the leaf, gives it a lot more dimension and texture then just filling in the shape. Will have to try that.
this tip helped me a lot, i thought it would be 100 times harder to paint grasses if i didn't have a fan brush, but now i see clearly that it's not! :D thank you Dianne, stay safe!
This is awesome! I do love the Filbert, but you've given me some new ideas :) after seeing the leaf formed, I can imagine that it would also paint a lovely 🐦 🦜 bird or tree!! Thanks again, Dianne:)
@@BrokenCDprodux Yesss, someone who uses commas, as they should be used. So many people, these days, do not use commas at all,or,probably don't know how to use them.
Excellent tip, Dianne. I've taken lots of workshops and they don't seem to teach these topics-- they seem to assume the students know these things and don't mention them.
Thanks alot teacher .... there are too many products and there hundreds of version available in the market when u talk about art. I think as a self taught learner who don't have any knowledge about fine art ...learning from past 6-7 years..still don't know much about these things. But I learnt from u how to overcome fear. Which I was struggling from past. But now I am working towards to unlock my potential. I know this art thing in me. In fact it is me. But didn't have the key to unlock it. But now I know how to.. :) Thanks and love from me... :)
First, ignore all the hundreds of things available on the market. Choose one thing and learn everything you can about it. Then, chose a second. One will most likely lead you to another. Be wary of putting too much pride in being self-taught. Teachers who know what they are doing can save you a lot of frustration and help make your journey faster and smoother.
I rarely use the round brush in oil painting, but it's a real workhorse for me in watercolor. The Egbert is a longer version of the filbert whose longer bristles make it a good blending brush. Although in my younger days, I used it quite often, I rarely use it these days.
Think I will see what all and I mean all, well if I did that I would be unlocking all day and then some, but I will explore my brush potential for sure. Thanks for the demo.
I have a filbert brush, but it has very very stiff bristles, stuck together! This is the way the brush arrived! To me it seems like something might have been spilled onto it and stiffened the bristles! What can I use to see if it softens up? Paint thinner, turpentine? Thank You!
I have attended classes and not one teacher has ever taught me how to use brushes. I am grateful I have Dianne
Have fun with exploring what your brushes can do.
My first. teacher. Thank you. There’s so much to learn. Your a great teacher.

Thank you Teacher Dianne. Very helpful. I like how you teach!

I did not know, how many uses, this brush had, thank you, for teaching me.
You type like Christopher Walkens talks.

I love my flbert, and, use it constantly for painting long, curly woolley fleece on my sheep. It works every time. It is my absolute favourite brush.

Outstanding
Thanks.
Always informative. THANK YOU.
And always a pleasure.
I used filberts exclusively for many years, but just added flats and brights to my quiver. It takes them all.
A village of brushes :) !
Love your your tips. How is it I can never find these tips in books. Learning a lot from these short videos. Thank you so much Dianne.
I have not used mine enough , though it does make nice cloud edges I noticed.

It's amazing what one brush can do once we get past thinking of it as just a paint applier.
Thank you, love the way u explain this .I subscribe.

'Cat's tongue' brush = filbert brush? (Pincel 'Lengua de gato').
Not really. The filbert brushes hold the filbert shape without the pointed ends of a cat's tongue brush.

Try soaking it overnight in Murphy's Oil soap, the rinsing it good in warm water. If that doesn't restore it, check back with me.
In the Studio Art Instruction I will try that! Thank You very much for your help!!
In the Studio Art Instruction I want to thank you for your advise! It worked and released the hairs!! Thank You!!
Brushes come with water soluble glue on them sometimes to keep the tip nice. It rinses out with water or probably thinner as well
Gracias
Thanks for watching. You must have seen them all by now.

Thanks.
Which brand of filbert brush you are using? And what series?
I think that particular filbert is a Utrecht 209-F.
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction thanks so much 😊
How much cost it is??? Tell me mam please
How much cost is what? The filbert brush? It depends upon which brand and what size you buy. Prices in USD can range from $2 up.
Is this brush a hog filbert?
Yes.
Your not getting a really good look at your painting it’s not zoomed enough but I did enjoy it please get the camera to zoom
Thanks for watching.
