Dear Diana, I have wanted to study art since I was a child, but it didn't happen. I'm over 40 now and I'm unimaginably grateful that I can finally learn how to paint, I can't imagine a better teacher. You are an amazing teacher! The technical basics you teach help me see better, observe better, think better in every exercise. I'm less frustrated that due to a lack of technical knowledge, I can't paint the picture the way I want. All lessons are beneficial for me, however, would you recommend some instructions on how to go through your quick types? Or do you think it basically doesn't matter? Thank you very much for sharing valuable knowledge, experience and skills.

Petra Lo, currently we have filmed and posted over 300 Quick Tips in random order as we base these on viewer's requests. Roger, our producer, has put together a list which you can find under Community on our channel page ( ua-cam.com/channels/JErPSUwVOXzRYDC4kWejnw.html ) I think the best way to study them is to go to that list and choose the ones whose titles address your need. Why did not any of my teachers teach in the 17 units i took of art? My god how frustrating to learn i spent all that time and learned very little. Just a studio and a sink to clean up. Sad. We were left to our devices so much! One teacher put desks in a circle and i guess that was his best input. Love you tube and this teacher is the most complete in explaining. A person can figure it out but a quick exercise just to test out stuff speeds up things a lot or get you over being stumped

    • @IntheStudioArtInstruction

I always have a fear of thin lines....what if that last whisker on the cat turns out to be a 'thin line disaster' and wrecks the whole painting? It is the Sienna Pochade box easel, one of the first they made. Yes, I use it for plein air painting, too. It is the most sturdy portable easel I've ever used, and I've gone through at least three French easels over the years.

Its fine to stroke more for the first part of painting. I dont use medium except poppy oil and thats at the end. My goal is to then apply paint in one stroke placements for the end not dab dab or swipe then correct…
