Thank you. Finally someone bringing the relevant objective measurements to the table. Frequency response and distortion graphs like that are a sigh of relief among "they are amazing, fantastic, trust me bro" reviews.
The bass response is actually intentional. The srh940 is more linear, and more geared towards professional work while srh1540 is slightly consumer focused.
You're killing it on this channel keep it up some people say the shuret 1840 is to weak in the bass and slightly recessed in the mids and t00 strong highs then in the 1540 is too bassy but the men's and highs are fantastic for what the driveway is capable of and you know it's weird the earpads looks black in the video but some other videos show it's blue in a little bit of yellow where it's perforated or white and would be honored if you gave me a favorite 😁😁😁
Thanks for the review this often ignored headphone. I’ve only owned the pads and they are glorious. Mmcx is a no for me but I’m sure (Shure?) it’s okay in practice. Love that it includes two pairs of pads. This would an awesome thing if other companies would follow suit.
Thank you for the kind words. Completely agree. Buying a secondary set of pads has become very expensive in many cases. Including them up front at scale would lower cost and allow users to pay more up front, but not such a hefty premium.
Thanks for this review! I have been debating between DT177X, SRH540 and Neuman NH20 for my first nice closed back for music and gaming and this def helps a ton! Love your channel and I already bingewatched most of them today. SO it seems my choices have more or less come down to DT770 80 or 250ohm, DT77xgo and Denon 7200.
Thanks for checking out the content! There are good options here... Lot of it between those is subjective, I hope the reviews help! Let me know what you go with. Take care.
A bit late to the party, but I've owned both the 80ohm and 250ohm dt770pro, and thought the 250ohm sounded better. There was something hollow with the 80ohm version. I similarly did not particularly enjoy the 32ohm version for the same reason.
If they go above 90db on a regular basis they’ll get a lot of distortion AND hearing loss. Great video, I love these headphones! Just bought the 1840, I love these so much. Waiting for those open backs to come in... you should check them out, too.
I've been watching your every single reviews on (Gaming)headphones, DACs and AMPs for many months now and,.. YES, YES, YES, You're THE MAN. Thank you again for another great review. (too bad that I've already place an order of Sennheiser HD560 after I've watched your previous video review. ;) )
Hi! I'm undecided between these Shure 1540's and the Sony MDR-Z7M2's. They're similar in price, and I'm leaning towards the Shure ones but haven't found a good review comparison.
Man I really appreciate all the work and reviews you do. Is there any way you could review the Ultrasone Pro 900i? I'm interested what you think of them in comparison to other closed backs you have used. Keep up the great work.
Like to see your thoughts on gold planar gl2000. There's alot of back and forth about them but I enjoy them and think there very good in gaming. I have only played apex legends so further testing needed but I'd say imaging is on par with my dt 880 600 ohm and they have verticality which I struggled with on the dt 880s, also a much bigger sounstage.
Thank you for your channel! I enjoy music, but I'm serious about gaming. I've watched several off your reviews over time and I'm wanting new headphones, primarily for gaming, under $500. I've also got a huge head and reviews get subjective for sound quality and sizing. Do you think you'd get the Shure's in my situation? 560S? 1990s??? This is driving me nuts 😂!! PS playing Waezone, Valorant and Apex right now if you think that matters from a headphone selection POV.
I think when sizing is an issue it's best to buy from either Amazon or someone with awesome service like Sweetwater. A Sweetwater rep will help you make a selection up front and help with returns if necessary. Amazon returns are super easy if you don't abuse it as well. Head shape is unique and comfort will be very subjective. If I were you I would actually talk to a rep at Sweetwater, see if they will let you order two with the intent on returning one. Otherwise do that same thing with Amazon if they won't accommodate you.
How much better is the SRH1540 compared to the DT177X for competitive gaming? I ask because the 177X seems to be going a bit cheaper used and appears better built. That said I'll go with these if they image significantly better.
Currently own the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms. I want to upgrade, but I need closed back due to where I live, very busy road that I can consistently hear unless wearing headphones. Would these be a big enough upgrade over the DT 770's considering the price? About double that of the ones I own
when it comes to pure imaging, they are equals. This is really about whether you need/want open or closed and if you get the Shure, do you have the ability to EQ the bass a bit?
was thinking it would be helpful/popular to make a video of the best headphones in under 100, over and $200 and up headphones. Badseedtech always recomended the 58x and PC38X but when I bought the 58X I didn't really see the audio quality or spatial awareness I wanted. I wanted to get better headphones for Tarkov which recently I haven't been playing, but really I had some logitech Z506 speakers, which now looking are not made anymore, but they had really good deep thumping bass and to me sounded great. Only problem was having a microphone and other people in the house listening to my video game. Overall I just wanted to play video games better or be better with spatial audio, which I felt like in some games 5.1 speaks did well.
Looking at the massdrop K7XX, saw you said the 800s are the best and massdrop is now going to sell them but it’s a bit to expensive for what I think it’s worth.
yeah, I honestly need more time on my hands. if this was my job, I would have so many videos to get out. balancing act right now. yeah, the 58X is fine for gaming but it is overrated in that regard IMO. speakers are great in single player but they fail to give the intimate detail that headphones can. Plenty of headphones out there that are great for Tarkov (one of my favorite games btw).
The 7XX is fine but it feels super cheap, I actually don't recommend it. The original HD800 is one of the best gaming headphones on the planet but the 6k treble spike hurts and once you correct it, they are not as great. I'm not sure what it is but they aren't the same once you EQ them. I can't really use them. The HD800S corrects that, and they are very good but there are better for less $. If you were going price no object, I would recommend the Focal Clear MG Pro. It is better than the HD800S. If you check out my other reviews, lots of good stuff out there for reasonable prices. The Drop 8XX is tough to get behind. I just struggle giving someone a 9 month, interest free loan right now.
@@gamingaudioguide9292 thanks for the reply, right now I’m looking for under $300 would be ideal and the lower the better really. If there is a $50 or $150 headphone like one I was looking at that’s $62 on sale is the Philips SHP9500. I was told the 7XX because it has a sound stage which is basically what I think I’m looking for to play tarkov.

@@gamingaudioguide9292 Why does Amazon list old packaging for 499 and new packaging for 399?

Hey I hope you're still planning on making videos. I absolutely love this channel.
I was trying to sell mine because listening to music on them is so boring! ended up using them full time for gaming and yea they are perfect for that

@@gamingaudioguide9292 Well there's me doing my homework. Time to go check out that review!
Excellent review! I also like that you touched on gaming as well.
Very impressive in-depth review. Didn't expect such an analytical approach to reviewing from a channel called Gaming Audio Guide!
It’s time for a tiered headphone list and as always keep up great work your my favorite headphone reviewer

If you are doing 90db continuously, you won't hear the distortion within a year anyway.
whats best for movies with a schiit stack? I like to blast them!
