Nazarov Folk Music Band performing Orange Blossom Special on some entertainment show on Soviet television (estimated time period - late 70's / early 80's)
I’m not sure why this was recommended to me just now, but I’ve known this song since I was a little kid and this is some shit straight out of the Twilight Zone
Apparently the musicians deceived the TV representative by calling the song Irish. American music might not have been allowed to be played, and Ireland and the Irish people in the USSR were considered more respected because they had been oppressed by Britain for centuries.
If you didn't tell the average midwest bumpkin that this was Russian or that it came from Soviet TV, not only would they swear that it's American, but they'd very likely enjoy it.
В Советском Союзе люди в целом были проще и лучше. При всей политической несвободе они были свободны от ежедневной борьбы за существование. Все таки культивировались лучшие стороны человеческой натуры.
She does okay. However, they should dump the costumes and stop prancing around the stage like a poor version of Oklahoma. This performance borders on mocking the Orange Blossom Special.
Great effort.
One of the best versions.

Bravi, bravi, bravi. Una delle migliori interpretazioni.

I'd like to hear/see the Russians performing the "Auctioneer's Song."
Was sung by Leroy Van Dyke in 1962.

Subtitle says: "IRISH tranditional song 'Fast train'"
Irish "Orange Blossom", just imagine!
LOL.
Sadly, this is the best rendition of this song I ever heard.
Americans always do something to make it a little extra clever, and ruin it EVERY time.
Hey, the Orange Blossom Special IS an American song and we can damn well play it as we like.
Next the Commies will be doing Benny Hill!
Never heard about this group and this is American folk music.
It is a good music , but would never played in USSR.
Excellent musicianship. All the people who failed the audition for this show were taken into the forest and "disappeared."
This is shows you that russkies are just like you.
If Russians douing something seriously, this will be great.
In USSR we don't clap
