Great information!!!😊
Glad it was helpful!
I have been sewing for years but you have shown me so many easier ways to do things to do sew clothing faster and easier Thank you.
I'm 3 years late watching your video but it was definitely helpfu to me today. I learned how to blind stitch my hem on my 50 yr old Bernina and it worked perfectly Thank you
Same here. 3=years late
Love videos like this! Thank you Kim! I would absolutely love to see short how to videos like sewing a welt pocket, sewing side seam pockets, a button down shirt cuff, placket, etc. it would be so helpful.
Thank you for demonstrating the five different ways of sewing hems for knit fabrics. In the past, I’ve stayed away of knits. Now, I can practice using these methods. 🤗
Thanks Dorothy for restoring sound❤️
I tried the fusible thread and the hem came down in the first wash. I was 😢. Then I realized that the thread I was using was over 30 years old. Bought some Gutterman from Wawak. Then next hem worked like a charm. The zipper and thread prices at Wawak are amazing. You save way more then the shipping cost. Thanks for all the tips.
Thank you for the tip of using the fusible thread in my serger!!!
I like the tank top you are wearing.
I am not 😅 a robot! So glad I found you channel. Knits are not my favorite to see. I know you will help me. Thanks for your help!
Thank you!
Love your teaching methods l always learn soòoo much..Thank you
Thank you, I really needed this!
Thanks for the demo!
Thank you for sharing. I cant wait to start sewing knits.
Excellent tutorial thank you 🌺
I love your top. Thank you for the video, Happy sewing.
Thank you for these welcome tips! Another "Wonder tape" brand is Sew Easy wash away quilter's tape
Yay! Thank You Dorothy!
One thing that I have found helpful with sewing knits is a walking foot or a knit foot. They both help to not stretch the fabric while sewing.
Thank you, it was very helpful.
11K ... your channel is certainly growing! This info is wonderful and so helpful to have as a quick reference.
Thanks, Heide!
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Sorry, second question is that I used Wonder tape and when I did a trial run, yes, the fabric was still a bit stretchy but when I did a sleeve end in the round, there was no stretch at all, not sure why. Thank you.
This was so interesting. Thank you.
I recently got a lot of quality fabric at a fab price and wen thy came I noticed a few of them are stretchy fabric and I've not used them before😅
I had one of those Janome sergers too!
Thank you.
Yay for 11,000 subscribers! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Hi Kim ,
The coverstitch hem was really interesting,I have a coverstitch machine but I am a bit scared of it. I will have to try again. The new intro is very good but I really miss tiny Kim. You were so sweet.
Also, thank you so much for showing how to do the hems without a serger! And the tips about ironing are helpful too. I’ve been using my interrupted or multi step zig zag stitch for the hems of my kids tank top shirts and shorts as opposed to the smaller zig zag as I was getting a lot of bunching of threads on the bobbin side of the fabric and the fabric getting stuck down in the feed dogs. I think I’ve got a tension problem, but despite all my adjustments, it still intermittently bunches threads and sucks the fabric into the feed dogs. Anyway, the multi step zig zag seems to not have as much off these problems and does well for thee hems, almost decorative.
Could you use the fusible thread as the thread on the top of a regular sewing machine and then iron it the same way?
You know, I haven’t tried doing the fusible thread on a sewing machine, but it might work. It actually might work better wound into a bobbin.
Dorothy’s Daughter I have so many issues with my bobbin threads, I’d be afraid to try it. It will so for a while normally, and then I’ll get a big tangle of bobbin thread on the bottom, while the top looks fine. It will go on sewing normally for a while after, then the big tangle again. I have no idea what’s causing it, as I’ve tried adjusting top tension, bobbin tension, changing needles, etc, with minimal improvement. but I’d rather not risk a more expensive fusible thread in the already finicky bobbin side of things on my machine. Of course, it’s a moot point anyway, as I’m 99% sure that’s not something I can get here anyway. Perhaps when we get back to the States and I’m back to my old machine, I could give it a try.
How do you hem a 2" hem? It's the Vivace in knit I'm finishing.
I am in the UK and can only find 1" expensive import. I've got half an inch and am having trouble on a thin knit. If I cut my own how do I get straight strips?
A few year ago I bought 2 knit pencil skirts from Nordstrom. They were not hemmed. Just Raw edge.
Hi. What make is a serger which threads automatically. Even after i have had my serger for 2 years i still struggle to get it just right. I live in South Africa so i have not known that we have them here. I usually only sew stretch fabrics which are so forgiving. Thanks
It looks like the brand is a Juki . I’m jealous too.
Congratulations on reaching your 11,000 subscribers. I like your new intro. You always have great content and delivery. For me a must watch. Thank you so much.
Just started to make my own tops and used coverstitch for 1st time!!!do i need one??
Would you ever use a hemmer foot with knits?
You said you make your own knit stay tape, you cut it, but what do you use to stick it on? I usually use a double needle for knit hemming.
What type of needle do you use on use on the serger and coverstitch with knits? This video it was very helpful and I learned some useful tips! Also I really like your fabric choices on your top😀👏🏻
😃
What does using the hump jumper do for knits? I thought it was just for bulky fabric like jeans.
They make thinner ones that actually slide under your presser foot and help guide the fabric so it doesn’t get pulled into the needle hole.
my nit just got stuck. how do i sew it without it getting stuck
Did you sew the lovely top you are wearing?
If you did create this what pattern(s) did you use? Thanks
That top is the Petal Top by Ellie & Mac:

How do I turn off closed captioning so I can see the visual examples? Thank you!
It depends on what you are watching on. If you are on a computer, I believe there is a little icon with a “cc” that allows you turn them on and off.
Hi Kim, could you please tell us what brand and number of knit interfacing did you use to make your own fusible 1” hem tape? Great idea, and I love watching your channel. I’ve learned so much.
did you ever find out about the interfacing for diy hem tape? I know she said in some video but I can,t find it. if you know would you please share?
Is there a trick to peel the top off the wonder tape? And does the bottom side stick to the fabric?
wonder tape is double sided tape sticky on both sides
What is the right tension to hem stretch fabric
That depends on many things. The weight of the fabric, amount of stretch, etc. Honestly, the correct needle matters more.
Where do you get patterns and funky knits?
what is the name of the top you are wearing, who sells the pattern??is it a knit
That swishing sound when you keep running your hands over the fabric 😩😩
What iron are you using?
I have the Rowenta Pro Iron
That's a really cute top that you're wearing! Did you make it? Love the fabric!
Yes, it is Petal Top from Ellie & Mac. Here is the pattern:

I have a question about your recommendation of using a ball point needle. I thought they were mostly for jersey knits where as a stretch needle would sew either. Is this a mountain, a mole hill or misinformation :-). Thank you so much for you fantastic tutorials.
There may be some nit pick differences, but the main thing is to use some kind of all point needle with knits. I buy ballpoint jersey needles in bulk and use for all knits.
This is the repaired audio?!
Too far away from camera. Can’t see any thing
Just an FYI - did you watch long enough to see the close up demonstrations on the sewing machine, serger and coverstitch? Not sure how I could get any closer. Anyway, in case you stopped before you got to those, I just wanted to let you know they are in there.
😀
