If you want to get into impossibility, look up conservation of angular momentum and how the seasons debunk your long losing fairy tale. Angular size can be observed as constant with a proper solar flare(you can also see sunspots with). edit: Could you please describe how the "lensing effect" would work in this situation and what exactly would cause it?
