So, credit where it's due...I am a new snowmobiler and I watched this tutorial...went outside, tried it out...learned it easily. Thanks so much for this...great vid. Now I need some more snow...cheers.
Great vid! I've never tried this before and I watched the video right before I went riding and it was really hard but I used your advice and I was able to get myself on one ski just for a few seconds at a time but it was still awesome.
Just do it. U gotta just practice I learned how to do it this weekend. I've always been scared to fall off but u cant be. Theres no supplement for experience. Just try it
I know today I went snow mobileing for the 2nd time and I can already cat walk and take jumps. I took one jump going 60 and the reason I did it was because I wasn’t scared I just did it
@@riahd5086 were u on crack?? But yeah im not scared I just dont want to break our sled because my brother and dad also use it so they would be annoyed
hey jeremy your a carving pro bro,,my buddy just called and asked if I wanted to go sledding ( hell ya ) enjoyed the video as always jeremy ,,say hi to your friends for me ( their cool) ride safe brother ,,,liked ( thumbs up )
Haha don't even have a snowmobile but still feel like I could do this after the video haha! Those shots at the end were amazing man, some skill to stay balanced and record with the stick all at once!
Caleb Donnelly ah. I have the same sled. Just full send it. Gotta hit that throttle hard to start then let off very slowly and keep your balance. You might tip it a few times tho
before watching this video i had never really riden a sled and bought a 2013 skidoo free ride and just from watching so many videos of ppl riding out in the mountains ive tried doing the things ive seen and somhow can do it right away no problems lol, great video tho helped me to it more smoothly.
It’s very easy to get it up on one ski if you turn your skis to the right as you lean to the left, and then turn them back to allow it to lift much easier as the weight of the sled works with you. Hope this helps anyone having troubles getting on one ski
Hey i ride a 2014 skidoo 600 and i know how to side hill and carve and boon dock but you forgot to say a Major part of carving is COUNTER STEERING please reply it would make my day :)
Yes. You can see him doing it to start each turn. Back of inside ski becomes pivot point; throttle blip sends sled in one direction and rider in the other, tipping it over without having to haul on it. Kudos to JR for making it look easy on that heavy wide stance Doo.
Just bought my first sled it's a 2001 polaris super sport 550 fan cooled (dont sled shame me ) but anyways 1400 bucks awesome machine hit the trails and got a feel for the beautyness I'm now hooked anyways funny story on why I came here in my yard earlier I come barreling in a straight stretch tried to do a quick maneuver to the hill and I gave her a lil to much pepper and that thing flew right up on one ski me being a adrenaline junky I am I loved it but was a butterfly feeling at same time and now I'm here wanting to master it
@Jeremy Rhydes what CC is that sled? I have the same model but a 01 800 mod, your running the same hand guards as me as well, let me know if you want mod ideas or input on mods
Thanks for the deatailed tutorial!!! your the only one who made a video of this on an older sled and it really helps. Do you think I could do it with a 370cc? I weigh less than 100lbs so Its hard for me to manuver the sled
You forgot to mention that when you burped the throttle to get it up on edge you want to counter steer a touch that really helped the get it up on its edge to carve super smoothly
I have a '88 tundra 250 lt. Those things will go anywhere! Love vintage sleds! Im kinda missing my summit rn. It the shop waiting for a part to come in... Glad I had my backup though!
it all has to do with how you lean and pull the sled combined with how much throttle you give it. It is surprisingly easy to learn if you have some good soft snow and a newer chassis machine. It's even more fun on a narrow ski stance mountain machine. I could do circles on my sled within 1 hour of playing in some deeper snow.
Can you teach how to do a double backflip next?
Hahahaha 😂😂
Lmaooo
Lol
Ye just find a small lump any will work, get as far back as possible and the rest comes on it's own (just like ambulance)

In addition to my smart aleck comment I would also like to say this is one of the most informative sledding videos I have ever seen.

Awesome video!! I’ve only been riding for 2 seasons now and really hope to ride hard like this one day. Thank you for the tutorial!!
Haha don't even have a snowmobile but still feel like I could do this after the video haha!

A big thing to is that keep your foot on a 45° angle and also counter steering
Great video to bad winter is almost over 😟. I guess its soon time to get sea doo out.
Good commentary, I’m just learning this. It’s fun! I didn’t start riding till my mid 30s 51 now and a few of us old guys ( dogs) learning new tricks
It's kinda hard to do it when u have a 1992 Polaris Indy 440 😂 time to get a 600
Caleb Donnelly ah. I have the same sled. Just full send it. Gotta hit that throttle hard to start then let off very slowly and keep your balance. You might tip it a few times tho
I have a 94 Polaris 440 fan 😂 (actually my profile pic) like Hallogyny said just full send the throttle and you’ll maker’ through anything
Send it!
I was side hilling and carving and jumping on my 1994 polaris Indy sport
jdblaster this year I’m a lot more experienced with riding and can get mine to do basically whatever I want because it’s so darn light 😂
Great video! Helped me a lot
excellent tutorial
JERMEY NEVER STOP DUDE U R AWESOME
i love your videos man keep it up i have a 2008 yamaha nytro fx and i love it.
How do you get such good audio with a go pro?
He has a mic attached to him
The thing about riding in the mountains up here in AK is carving is like the only way you can steer the sled
before watching this video i had never really riden a sled and bought a 2013 skidoo free ride and just from watching so many videos of ppl riding out in the mountains ive tried doing the things ive seen and somhow can do it right away no problems lol, great video tho helped me to it more smoothly.
Didn’t even finish the video and I already learned to carve
I hope it’s as easy on modern snowmobiles 😮 I’ll try it next week end 🤞
It’s very easy to get it up on one ski if you turn your skis to the right as you lean to the left, and then turn them back to allow it to lift much easier as the weight of the sled works with you. Hope this helps anyone having troubles getting on one ski
This is great lol because I have the exact same sled and I needed to know how to do this
great video. thanks man, you make it look sooo easy.
Love the video bro
If you are having trouble geting the othe ski in the air try to turn the opposite direction and that can help tilt the sled
Great video man. I must really try this. :) on my snowmobile
Great video man I know how to crave just like you and I couldn't have made a better vid explaining it myself
Dude you rock 👊
good tutorial! We want more vlogging. Let us see your life :)
Dude, I know its been a while since this video was shot. But damn, I love the hoodie and jeans riding. :D
When I do that I always end up tipping and falling
you gotta do it in deep snow
Also in deep snow you gotta counter steer to get yourself on your side
cuz u suck
@@gusdubya5218 give him a break he’s learning
@@davinanderson3745 just messin
When you get or if you get deep fresh powder teach us how to sway carve please
How old is ur sled???
I’m a beginner and I working on carving/counter turns
Great vid
You good buddy
Hey i ride a 2014 skidoo 600 and i know how to side hill and carve and boon dock but you forgot to say a Major part of carving is COUNTER STEERING please reply it would make my day :)
counter steering is the key to succes :D
it seems like counter steering would be the best way to get up on 1 ski. (????)
Good explication
Cool video
I watch EVERY video you post
nice vid man keep it up
Thank you for this. I can't get my damn Summit XRS to turn in soft snow to save my life. I'm going to be practing this.
great job man trying this 2morrow :P
fx nytro rtx : )
Should express that to make it easier using the counter steering as you come up on edge.
Thanks dude
It's all about counter steering and throttle
Yes. You can see him doing it to start each turn. Back of inside ski becomes pivot point; throttle blip sends sled in one direction and rider in the other, tipping it over without having to haul on it. Kudos to JR for making it look easy on that heavy wide stance Doo.
It’s kind of like driving stick, you learn by practicing
What sleds would you recommend for a novice riders
an arctic cat thundercat 1000
So I’ll try this
Just bought my first sled it's a 2001 polaris super sport 550 fan cooled (dont sled shame me ) but anyways 1400 bucks awesome machine hit the trails and got a feel for the beautyness I'm now hooked anyways funny story on why I came here in my yard earlier I come barreling in a straight stretch tried to do a quick maneuver to the hill and I gave her a lil to much pepper and that thing flew right up on one ski me being a adrenaline junky I am I loved it but was a butterfly feeling at same time and now I'm here wanting to master it
what is that wire connected to your camera ?
Question, how do I do it with a heavy sled
I’ve done it on about 6 different sleds. The heavier the sled the more throttle you will need to give. But it is really all in practiceing.
Some reason you reminded me of Deadpool. 🤣
thanks👍
Yo what happens if u carve sitting down and fall can there be big injury
do you think i could carve good with a tundra 600 ace
I have a question can you carve on a two up sled?
Dumb question but what is the point of carving vs just going straight and turning
wonder if my fathers yamaha viking can carve
you don't need the throttle blip, just give it a nice jerk with the full body weight. And to turn narrower you can brake with your foot in the snow.
Carving helps prevent you from getting stuck in deep snow
thank you
@Jeremy Rhydes what CC is that sled? I have the same model but a 01 800 mod, your running the same hand guards as me as well, let me know if you want mod ideas or input on mods
What size track is on that sled ?
Does it work in 1 foot deep snow?
Thanks for the deatailed tutorial!!! your the only one who made a video of this on an older sled and it really helps. Do you think I could do it with a 370cc? I weigh less than 100lbs so Its hard for me to manuver the sled
What state you in?
You should do a wheele on snowmobile
Do you think a 100 lbs person could carve or wheelie a 380 mxz
NL MTB Club yes it is very easy to carve but you will not be able to weelie
Simon Jahr thank you for the fast reply. Do you think a more powerful sled
(such as an 800) could help me wheelie
NL MTB Club no i think a 800 will be to heavy you would have a better chance at getting up on a 600
NL MTB Club i think mybe you could get up if you had a short slope or hill
Snow hasn’t hit us here but is it possible to carve on a 97 arctic crap zl 440?
Yes you can carve any sled...lean the way u want to turn..turn the opposite way ....
When I’m carving I keep going straight how do I fix this
You forgot to mention that when you burped the throttle to get it up on edge you want to counter steer a touch that really helped the get it up on its edge to carve super smoothly
True, i saw he did it but he didnt mention it.
I have a z570 and I quite can’t get onto my side for carving
I’m a master of the left hand turn carve, right hand turn carve no so much
Lol why aren't you counter turning it would reduce so much of the stress on your body.
You shoulda mentioned countersteer to get it up on one ski right away at the first take. I could see you countersteering but you didnt say it.
i was able to do it on my old 95 vmax 600 dx
What lake is that?
No comments about the jeans and the wet knee?
we don't have any snow in Morris, NY
Assassin's United115 I feel your pain over in MN.
It’s really easy on soft snow
Make a video showing how to wheeelie
wow
im 11 and way 100 pounds do u think if i have the proper form i could do it or do i have to make a stop to mickdonolds LOL
Shane Cross all about technique buddy. No need for Micky D’s
Shane Cross weigh* McDonald's*
Shane Cross what skidoo you got because I have a 98 670 formula z and I'm 14 and still can't weigh enough or have a sled that can very easily
Seth Pacholko I’m sure if you perfected the technique you would get it. I’m 15, 110 pounds, and I can do it on my 600etec
@@calebm.5698 your 15 at 110 pounds
my snowmobiles so light i dont even have to stand up XD i just lean left or right and it does it XD
Old tundra or vintage sled?
yamaha bravo br 250 short track

I have a '88 tundra 250 lt. Those things will go anywhere! Love vintage sleds! Im kinda missing my summit rn. It the shop waiting for a part to come in... Glad I had my backup though!
Or maybe he’s just fat
And going left to right is called boondocking and doing a circle is called carving
Goddamn reminds me of my places 60 km nortn to Moscow, Russia. The nature is quite the same.
What’s the length of the track
I swear that pond is in my hometown (west coast NL, CA.)
Steve O he lives in Vermont USA so I guess it’s just a funny resemblance
caleb Donnelly i have a 1975 artic cat jag thats hard
lol I just got done doing that
Why are u wearing jeans?
Put a GGB mountain can on it.
SledneckMN it’s illegal in Vermont to modify your exhaust in any way because the loud aftermarket pipes anger private landowners and we lose trails.
More how to videos
The thing I don't get is how to turn
it all has to do with how you lean and pull the sled combined with how much throttle you give it. It is surprisingly easy to learn if you have some good soft snow and a newer chassis machine. It's even more fun on a narrow ski stance mountain machine. I could do circles on my sled within 1 hour of playing in some deeper snow.
Ur amazing but can u get a Polaris
I think they patched it cant do it right🤔
I'm 13 and I randomly started carving
i tried leaning on the side of my sled and ended falling off then watched my sled go into a snowbank
Not me who carved an old two seater while still sitting
One important thing is finding the right snow pack to hard of a snow pack can cause damage to the track
