Careful with that concrete dust, it will etch your paint/clearcoat. I worked for one of the major auto manufacturers when a construction contractor set up a temporary concrete mixing plant next to the new car storage lot, dust went everywhere, a little rain and over 3,000 cars had to be repainted. Go through that washer as slow as possible. You'll need to do air filter maintenance more often as well, including your cabin air filter.
It's not that bad bud ...they are supposed to have bag houses none of that concrete dust is in the air what's so ever gets in your car and no it doesn't need to be re painted it needs to be washed simple as that your way over reacting
Get a orange rubber hammer & put it in your sidebox. Helps in unloading.
Glad you found urself a side hustle and are able to put your truck to use! Keep killin it man
Good People too man
A $1,000 a day in your pocket, that is a damn good side hustle! It’s a job, damn good one, not sure how that can go with UA-cam content long term.
Good people..bonusl
@@JustTruckin Good people make all the difference! Glad it's workin out for ya!
I hauled Portland for 3 years for a local concrete company. Definitely go through that wash slower because if any powder is left behind it will harden on your truck and eventually if it gets thick enough you’ll need to air chisel it off.
My husband was a Tug Boat Captain. He would bring barge loads of the dry cement that you're trucking. He would unload his barge right into the 18 wheelers. It was a lot of work and the drivers loved how he could keep them moving. He would fill 5 or 6 trucks at the same time. They made money cause he was fast at what he did.
I hauled 8000 loads of cement, sand and flyash. Cement is a good gig. Down where you are at you will appreciate the wash. Your buggy windshield will always get cleaned. Have fun pal!
Appreciated Carey
My Pops hauled bulk trailer out of Concrete Delivery in Buffalo through the 80's and 90's. Then hauled Fly Ash from a coal power plant to Albany after that. They added it to the concrete in bridges to increase lifespan. The trailer with that hose hoop at the front for the trucks with a wet kit to blow off the load is all the memories of dad. He bought a brand new 89 Western Star with a sleeper, E/f 18sp road ranger trans and 525 hp. His last truck was an 05 Volvo with a day cab, aluminum frame, wet kit and 325 hp. Pullin hills took more gears but he got almost 8 mpg instead of 6 in the western star, and could have an extra 10,000lbs in the bulk trailer for bigger check every day.
Good for you grinding doing what you need to do for yourself and your family! God Bless!
Oh man, this brings back memories. I used to pull out of that same plant in Holly Hill back in 2016. Loaded up after dinner and did two transfer loads overnight to the Spartanburg facility. What a blast, no traffic and no DOT. 24 hour self unload in Spartanburg.
Yes it’s a bit different but very flexible
They need any help I’m in CLT
If you need to shift some weight to the trailer axles, it is possible, but must be done before you leave the plant. Just close the vent valve, backup about 20 ft and hard stop! The powder will shift some into the back pod. If your hauling 79000-80000 you will be over axle on your drives if you don't shift some of the powder into the back pod. Good luck!
Glad you found something local. I really like the look of the w9 with new trailer
Like $120 per ton. 24-28 ton. Should be about 3k a load. Then the mileage increase or decrease the price per ton. Keep it trucking!! Good job in your area because all the competition is here in Texas. We can't do how many we want, so that a good position you're in my friend
I commend you Justin on doing something you might not normally do with your truck. You do what you gotta do.
We all have gone backwards in the past year. I use to be home religiously on weekends & brought home a pretty good wage to support my wife and kids, Now I need to work weekends plus the whole weeek to make what I made before. Tough pill of reality.
On the next episode; “Did I buy a daycab?!?” lol. In all honesty Justin, good on ya for doing what you gotta do in these times. I honestly have no clue how anyone can make it on these spot rates if that’s the only thing they do, even if they have paid off equipment and lower home bills. Good luck on the new endeavor
I noticed you were not wearing your seat belt. Years ago mine saved my butt in a head on collision. Wear it for the wife and kids.
That's great That you found a company to pull their direct freight. Like I always tell other drivers. It's money out here for us O/O. You just have to have connections and network with people.
Exactly this.
Justin you are a great father and hustler for the food on the table . Keep safe, please don’t over spend during these crazy times .
Justin has it all under control! He is so smart and will never make bad decisions.
@@robertblackwelder8201 give this person a set of pompoms for being Justin's cheerleader
@@geraldmolik7320 lol. If Justin needs money he can fart in a jar and sell it to Robert for 100 bucks.
You might think about getting into liquid tanks as well. A lot of non-haz stuff moving. (Used cooking oil, glycerin, veg and corn oil etc). Pretty good haul rates on it.
Never be afraid to do what you have to do to feed your family.. I applaud you for making the effort!
Hey I’ve been in pneumatic sector for over 40 years, done most of the dry bulk products including cement, the one to hook up with is food grade, just a heads up👍✝️
Long days, but super blessed that you've found something to keep you going.
Justin, the video wasn't long enough lol. Can't wait to see the truck with the trailer in motion from the sides like the videos of the dry van. Soon the new job will feel old 😂and repetitive then it'll become second nature for you. Great job figuring out the basics, feel proud of yourself and enjoy your family time. Ps At your height, there's no jumping up or down the trailers, more like just a hop up or down. Lol. Have a blessed night. See you on the next one.
Rain in Anderson stops at 10am, then sunny high of 74. Should be a perfect weekend! 👍🏻
😎🙏🏽
Good job finding something to haul. I just shut down my authority instead of renewing the registration and insurance. I was doing this as a part time side hustle and my equipment is paid for so it won't devastate me to sit and watch the market for a year. I sincerely hope the volume and rates return soon for everyone struggling. I sure wouldn't hurt for fuel prices to come down but I doubt that's going to happen. God bless all the truckers
Just like fuel prices not going down, the prices of groceries, building materials and everything else will never go back down and will only go up from here. Therefore people are not shopping like they used to simply because they can’t afford to. With that being said, the volume of loads will only decrease from where it’s at now and that will lead to many more companies and o/o shutting down
Congratulations on the new gig. I was just there today picking up a load of bagged cement. I'm there multiple times a week so maybe we will cross paths.
Now this is the job I would love, you decide how many loads you want to do, AND when, Awesome
That flat bed you mention and showed around the 2 min mark of the video does hire owner operators... And has dedicated runs close to where you are located... My father has worked there in dispatch and customer service for almost 30 years
If you're going to Holly Hill you can get off at the Orangeburg Exit 154B and go to Hwy 176 and get there much quicker than taking 26 the entire way. I drive from Charleston to Orangeburg every day and it's much faster that way.
Holcim cement, i have picked up many loads there, the first plant you passed was Giant Cement.
I switched I putt a wet kit on truck and now running end dump. Wake up at 2:30 or 3:30 am done about 2 home everyday. I love it!!!!
when my brother-in-law was driving it was for Curtis trucking in Utah. he was running two loads all fly ash from page Arizona to just outside northern Las Vegas. he was pulling a train, 40' and 36' trailer. all pneumatic.
It’s nice to see you driving in your truck again I hope the roads really do pick up for the all the truck drivers seeing you happy driving your truck that’s the best thing in the world I’m praying for all the truck drivers that the load start picking up soon we should get the weekend off to be with T dubs snd Voice you’re a good father she’s a good mother and you have three beautiful sites that you guys will enjoy each other and have a good time
My Business outside of the Fire Department was Concrete Construction, mySon Took the Company over completely In 2019. That boy has taken way more then I ever wanted. He has a Ton of Crews and Locations across Michigan,Toledo, Indiana also opening another one in West Tennessee.
Buy some 303 Graphene and clean windows/windshield really good app the Graphene and water will not stick to glass and fly off. 303 is used for sealing vehicle paint after you clay bar then paint. Easy to apply and remove. I personally love it
You are a hardworking man. I love your positive take on life no matter what the situation is! Stay safe! ❤
♥️😎🙏🏽
Make sure you keep your truck washed off if you don't it will eventually tear up your paint
I worked at saferack for about 10 years as the cut prep supervisor. They build the unloading systems for cement aggregate. My department cut all the I beams and parts to build the columns , platforms , stairs, handles. That first unloading station was a full canopy with tracking gangways. They build tons of those systems. I’ve since moved on to better things. But it’s a great company to work for.
It’s a good chance I’ve handled most of the material that the full canopy was made out of. They probably have a MAx Rack system there to unload the rail cars.
You do what you have to to take care of your family. It is called being responsible. WTG.
Wear your ppe. A good respirator is good also……….🤪
Seems like a decent gig.
Hopefully the trailers treat you well.
Sorry I missed your generous loot offer, I was having trouble with telegram.
Keep on trucking.
So not sure what all you have setup with them but I’m an owner op hauling cement and lime in ohio and the rates to deliver the load are damn good
Congratulations on getting some more it's better than nothing at all hang in there my brother
Good to see you truckin again. If you're making the money keep at it ! Hope you like it.
I pulled pneumatic for about 8 years. I enjoyed it! It pays better if you can also do the delivery, but you must have a blower on your truck. Keep your truck clean! That cement will leave a chalky stain, like hard water does, on your equipment.
Justin, You have incredible hustle/work ethic!! Be fueled by faith and family. Keep up the great work!
fuck yeah man im glad your getting to drive again. hopefully its consistent
I love that! Del means ‘of the.’ I’m a native Californian myself. It just made me chuckle the way you said it. With all respect. Love ya.
W9 looks good with that trailer, hope you like the job. You will figure it out my friend, good luck ✝️💯👍
Glad to see you in the big truck. Watching this 3 hrs past my apt to get loaded🙄not in a door yet.
Getting it done man that truck looks good no matter what it’s dragging down the road hats off to you getting it done
The biggest thing for you idk your area to good but you need to get your splits right for the weight distribution. I did pnuematic tanks but oilfield hauling sand it wasn’t to big of a deal cause only 1 way station that is easily by passed. But if you going across scales you’ll have to figure that out
Shut your truck off if you can while filling, you don't want to suck all that into your intakes and filters... I pull a lot of hoppers and load/unload at industrial plants. Just somthing I've learned.
Justin, this is what I was talking about stay away from brokers stick with something like this it’s steady, solid work with decent to good pay
I haul powder up here in Ontario Canada. We run 5 axle trailers and we put 45.5 metric tons (about 100k pounds) in trailer
Great video, very interesting! I watched guys haul the frac sand in Texas almost the same process. Instead of a screen they have a stoplight, it turns red you stop and the shute comes down.
Come on brother get 3 a day 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻🇺🇸👍🏼
Just don't ever forget to open your vent valves or you will implode your tanks..
Do they supply the blower air for the unload process at the silo? The trucks that delivered plastic pellets to us had their own blowers mounted on the tractors. They would unload at 3 to 5 psi. Any more than that and they would get a talking to from our owner, his Cadillac would get cover in dust if they tried to speed up the process, it would blow product out the silo vent.
Just remember this ROMEX Backset Platinum will be your best freind if any Portland Cement, or Cement as we call it, gets on your truck and trailer. It will remove dry hardened Cement on you paint or polished aluminum. It will not hurt your polished aluminum and will turn the Cement into a rinsable mud. Good luck. Hauler for any pointers hauling Cement. Get you a right weight gauge and install it somewhere on the catwalk or near the blower so you can see what your weight is at your drives.dry bulk materials in a Pneumatic tend to sometimes load heavier on the front pod.
I too have a w900 hauling Cement and it is a little tricky at first knowing how much you can haul and how much fuel you need. The more you take the more you get paid but, run the risk to over axel on a legal load. Best of luck 👍
Glad to hear you found something to help until rates pickup. Everyone is having a hard time. T&Ps.
Justin, now you workn homie,Bumpn Docks is over, ain’t nothing like getting out the truck and actually work, gotta love it 🦾
Once again you are in my old stomping grounds. That truck wash is necessary. You will have to keep your truck washed really well. I worked in the town next door and all the town vehicles had permanent paint damage from that dust despite never going in the plants. Feels like sandpaper after a while. No bueno.
And all so can a truck driver just move cement or sand trailers to one location to another if there job does not require them to offload the product?
Lost me with the Uber but its good to see you doing some different kind of trucking there's so much more than dry can in this industry 🤙
you are picking up portland cement, when mixed with sand , water and 67 stone you get ready mic concrete.
Spent a lot of time in that Holly Hill plant. We hauled in the coal ash from the coal plans down here in Conway and Georgetown. We pulled two loads as well and they paid us by the ton back then. Just watch for the old man on the tricycle with the big orange flag peddling around, got me a few times for no safety vest 😂
Congrats on your new gig Justin. I drive part time for a ready mix company pulling a three axel with a steerable 4th axel pneumatic trailer. 118000 lbs gross gives me a net of 39 tons us.
JUST got my hazmat and tanker, had my twic card already. looking for more options for sure
Thinking outside of your box. Great job.
Good luck bro, I have some friends who hauls pneumatic tanks and they love it.... hopefully it works out for you 💪🏾💪🏾 I used to own a w9 sexy trucks 👍🏾 take care.
This is the type of loads I make a living on hualing pneumatic tankers but I normally hual salt and flour
Nice 👍🏽
Cement is $130-ish before freight for 2200lbs, meaning a 40k pound load is around $2400 in material. Those recycled cardboard loads may have been more valuable.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Have fun with that my friend April 28th I'm retiring 66 years old I did that for 16 years make sure you wear earplugs
In New York cement is about 180.00$ a ton and going up more in early summer.
Malfunction Junction, where I-20 and I-26 intersect in Columbia SC. A traffic nightmare almost anytime of day. 😬😵💫😳
Good job Kid. You got to do what you gotta do. T & P's.
Thanks for the trip. I’m anticipating this day soon hopefully
Good looking tank you saw is plastics. We hauled polypropylene, polyester, and styrene. Then the dirty hoppers are usually cement or filler
3day at the lake fishing port bass 102 bass fantastic time see you at the lake maybe some day ❤👍🏻🙋♂️👏👏👍🏻
Justin, incase your interested gentry and sons trucking is hiring. You met Tim at matt's truck show. He is looking for drivers and owner operators to drive and haul dedicated loads
Have you looked into dealerships? They pay $1200 a day local work for GM parts here in Tulsa for owner ops. You hand pick smaller parts out of a pup trailer & deliver to 3 dealerships all less than 150 miles away. White line systems is the carrier but maybe they have a lane out in SC. Glad you’re finding work for the mean time though! Stay safe out there brother
Thanks Jordan
I remember when that plant was built, I worked there while in high school oiling the concrete pumps on third shift. We were building the footers for them big silos.
Welcome to the pneumatic field brother! If you ever come up to Missouri again hit me up!
Justin; way to go on being flexible and willing to change with the economic changes. A lot of buisnesses are using contract freight because it provides stability for the budget; doesn't mean less money; but does mean a budget can be set for the year or sometimes more. Keep making contacts and work your best deals.
Hey glad to see you rolling again stay safe GOD BLESS
You need to wash the dust off every time because it is very corrosive and will ruin the finish on your paint
It pulled that stuff good I pulled a few loads with it at HESS
Hi Justin. For your company: Guaranteed delivery or fuel cost only. We get priority unload at your customer that you arrange. Rates based on milage. Verified construction allowance. Your rates for this job sound good especially being home every night. Something is going to give or there will be nothing in stores and the manufacturers will close. Have good days!
Appreciated Buddy 😎🙏🏽
Good luck with your new venture Justin!
Hey brother. I move trailers at a Furniture Warehouse in Conover NC. Daily loads, very consistent freight and light weight. Most loads are one stop, no touch.
Hey Scott I'm looking for some work. Do you mind sending me some information about who you run with. Thanks
@@javonbell4166 I work for Arhaus Furniture. Our live loads are brokered thru JARAYL. Hope that helps.
I forgot to ask the other day but what's the specs on your W9? What axles are you running in the rear? I think the company by me was specced with 46k rears and as I mentioned before, they have a PTO and a gear driven blower to offload themselves. If you really like this work, look for a day cab in the future that you can put to work for this type of stuff!
I liked local routes, home every night. Hauling logs was great.
I ran hopper for alittle over a year I didn't make that great of money but it was fun different than running dry van
Not a bad gig. Nice to see you doing good.
It's gotta feel great to get something worth running your truck with. Free truck washes have to be a deal maker.
That was very interesting to watch. Thanks for this content!!!!
Well done bit of stress at first but looks like a handy regular load
🔥🔥🔥glad to see that W9 back on the road. Goodluck brother. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@ᴛᴇxᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ @ Just_Truckin is this a scam lol
Don’t know what it goes for out there in the Carolina’s, but it’s around $160/ ton in south texas right now
Atleast they have washes. Your w9 will get filthy
