How To Replace a Saxophone Neck Cork

- This is a how-to video about replacing the cork on a saxophone neck.
Here are the tools you will need if you are going to recork a lot of saxophone necks. If you are just going to recork a few necks, you will need the supplies with the "*" and you can improvise on the other supplies:
*1/16 inch (1.6 mm) natural sheet cork Allied #A452
Bench Peg for holding the neck while sanding Allied #T1702
*Cork Cement Allied #A838
Torch Allied #T5010
Rawhide Mallet Allied #T1604
*150 Grit Sand Paper Ferree's #H112
*Ruler
*Masking Tape
*Razor
*Paraffin Wax
*Cork Grease

Most band instrument suppliers have good sheet cork. I get mine from Allied or Ferree's Tools.

Really interesting . Do you only repair all types of instruments? I have a trombone (it was my Dad's and it's over 60 years old.) Are these worth repairing? I heard that there isn't much interest in trombones anymore. What do you think?
I repair all brass and woodwind instruments. Trombones have been very popular for the past few years. In fact, I am running low on them. A 60 year old trombone may or may not be worth repairing. It just depends on the condition.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It hasn't been out of the case since the 1950s. Dad had requested that I donate it to a school district but if it's worthless, I don't want to do that. If I were to email a picture of it, long with the makers name could you tell me if it's junk or???

It is contact cement. You can get it from Ferree's Tools or your local hardware store.
iv'e been told that the brass is a layer of paint on the metal and that using flame will leave carbon stains inside the neck... help
It sometimes does leave some marks, but they are easy to clean with a cloth and a flute cleaning rod.
What cane of glue can I use?

I know you are very busy, but if you could share a video teaching how you regulate the linked keys on the saxophone (i.e. G#, Bb, A, bis), it would be very helpful, because I am currently wrestling with getting these keys perfectly synchronized. I am getting there, but it is taking a long time and there must be a better way that I'm not aware of. : )
That can be a little tricky, but it is very do-able for anyone who has a little mechanical ability.
I will try to get a video on soon, but it will probably be another week or more before I can do that.

You didn't address the different lengths to allow for the conical shape of the neck - this is reallly important and I'm not clear on this
