Great information, You are like me, I was a cow guy and at 78 it is still what I like best. As a one man farm (until my boys started feeding the hutch calves) I had to do both the seeding and harvesting, But the cows were my focus.. Went from 6 registered heifers and 35 purchased grade cows to an all registered herd in about 10 years. Also like you, I watch the Sask-dutch kid and Larson's and 10 Gen guy. I was pretty small potatoes tho, I milked in MN and had a 40 cow tie stall barn. I was very focused on type, as I had 4 kids who all showed cattle both in 4-H and State Reg. Holstein Show. we taught every calf to lead in hopes they might go to show. We bought the farm in '76 and struggled mightily during the "trickle down of the '80' s" along with the drought of '88 and monsoon's of '86. I truly enjoy the Wepner Farm Productions!!
Thanks for explaining the manure system! I’d love to see the separator and how that all works! What’s your somatic cell run with the dried manure solids?!
Somatic Cell is normally under 120, sometimes with damp weather it will spike up and on good streeks we will see it under 100. That is nothing to brag about, but for the fact that it is recycled bedding and we don't have the big cost of sand, there are many benefits
@ absolutely! I’m hoping the build an another freestall barn in the next couple of years ! Would love to come check out the separator and how your system all works ! We milk about 180 ish with 3 lely a5 robots currently! Would really like to try and separate the sand and recycle the sand !

She did not grow up on a farm, but her family has farm background. I do not really see her being very involved in the farm directly, but she really enjoys child care, and I can see her starting her own business. As far as kiveing goes, I currently live off the farm, but as of right now, I am planning to be liveing on the farm at some point this year.

We run our milking cows in 4 different groups. They are divided by lactation and overall condition of the animal

How many years have robots been around in the farming industry for milking cows
I believe robots for milking cows were invented in the 90s but they were no were near what they are today
