Honor This is the bedrock of our character. It is the quality that empowers Marines to exemplify the ultimate in ethical and moral behavior: to never lie, cheat, or steal; to abide by an uncompromising code of integrity; to respect human dignity; and to have respect and concern for each other. Thank you for your service as a former Marine Officer and Jet Pilot, Artimus
Artimus was a Sergeant, not an officer. Served 4 years in the Air Wing. While on active duty, he flew on the side, not as an official Marine pilot (which would be an officer rank). He was going to apply to OCS, but his father died and he decided to finish his enlistment. Artimus misspoke here - he wasn’t an officer.
So beautiful that you carry on the torch of Ronnie Van Zandt. I am a musician and songwriter, Lynyrd Skynyrd is and always will be engraved in my heart and soul
I seen Artimus Pyle Band play at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket RI along with Soul Shine (Allman Brothers tribute band) last Saturday 2/10. They were amazing and Artimus had me mesmerized the whole time they were on stage. For a man who's 75 to hit those skins for over an hour was remarkable to say the least. Would LOVE to his band again.

He is a registered sex affender , he was kicked out of the band. In 1991 he went nuts on stage I Canada ( I was there)kicking his drums around the stage! He is a total embarrassment to all the other ORIGINAL MEMBERS 😮! There plane sat waiting (while running for over 45 minutes ) on the tarmac for him to show up late on the day of the crash. According to other band members IMAGINE if they had that FUEL in the AIR when they needed IT THE MOST!!!! and said that he ran away from the plane crash too
I cut this interview short. Larry London has no interest, does not know anything about the band, and sits with a dumb look on his face. Next to zero inquiry.
Artimus not to disrespect anybody but you made Lynyrd Skynyrd. you're drumming was the best drumming even better than the new Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer and better than Bob. I like to listen to your versions of Lynyrd Skynyrd when you are playing on the songs those are my favorite your live performances are the best. As far as I'm concerned Bob was good but you made it better. I'm a drummer and I can tell who's a better drummer the guy that plays with them now is pretty good but he's not Artimus. I love watching the old live concerts that you guys did and my favorite is when you're playing all the studio stuff my favorite is when you are playing. God bless you Artimus Pyle and rock on.

@@janicefranciose2965 that's awesome, lucky you😎 I don't know if Artemis knows but he has a signature sound in his drumming just like Alex Van Halen and John Bonham you can tell it's him just after a few licks.
Ok, I listened to this host and was suspicious of his knowledge of Artimus and Skynyrd. But when the host said "everyone died in the plane crash" except Artimus I realized this guy is a lousy host. He doesn't know the most basics. Then he brought up old story of how the name "Lynyrd Skynyrd" came about. Another sign Larry London just wung an interview and has ZERO interest in the subject. This explains the look of disinterest Larry London carried about his face throughout the interview. I have a recommendation, instead giving "um hm" non stop through an interview that show your disinterest, do interviews of something you are interested in.
Allen was fixing to go back out on the road and Kathy asked him - "If I were to leave here tomorrow , would you even remember me ?" Allen had the chords already written but Ronnie hadn't been able to come up with a verse to match the chord progression - Ronnie asked Allen how Kathy was doing and Allen told him what she had said - I reckon a lightbulb went off - This was told to me by a friend of Allen's -
@@davidrice3337 yeah I think he wrote that song when he 17 or 18 years old. Also I believe Ed and Ronnie wrote Sweet Home while they were working on Pronounced but saved it for Second Helping

Great to see you Artimus. I met you back in the late seventies at CW Shaws in Atlanta when you were playing with Studebaker Hawk. Keep on keeping on.

Great Interview! Artimus Pyle Fine American Drummer!
Enjoyed this interview.
Artimus shows he is humble, thankful and unselfish. Got to love him!
I must get the music, I’m a big fan of Skynyrd, Dolly, Artimus and Sammy.

Hi Artimus!!
i named my basset hound Artimus!
😢
Bob Burns went nuts and what he did yo a cat in Paris is why Artie got in. Artie had his issues too. People who hit things are not stable.
Hardly a legend or pioneer.
Is it true that Allen’s wife, Kathy asked him the line to free bird,”if I leave her tomarrow would you still remember me “?

Yes she did, then he asked her to marry him
