what do you do with a broken heart?
jay is probably my favourite character in p.d. at the moment & i recently rewatched season 5 and 6 and realised how well written his character development has been as of late!!! the episode where he takes down the ex-soldier who took the mosque hostage and he has to confront his prejudices is sO well done and i love seeing how far he's come (who knew he'd admit to actually enjoying therapy?) anyway, hope you enjoy!

CPD needs an 2 or 3 episodes that explains Jay's military past and why he's emotionally distress on some situations. Mouse needs to be on a special guest appearance like what Sean Roman did last season.

I can relate to halsted
I first saw Jay in Chicago MED, he caught my eye and was in fact one of the main reasons why I started watching PD. Now that I'm seven seasons in, I couldn't love him more: he's got the biggest heart, ready to help the innocent and carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's been through hell and back and never once given up on those he cares about. He owns my heart 💙

Nobody else can play the role of Jay better then Jesse, because he literally brings the best of his character. Jesse as Jay literally stole my heart. As I watched through all the episodes of Jay, he’s a fighter after losing so many people in his life. He’s a true hero and cares about others even when he’s going through struggles himself. Jay is the definition of a true legend and he literally stole my heart. I cannot seem to get along with other characters besides Jay. All the pain and the sadness and the trauma, the bullying he went through as a kid (as mentioned on the internet) and losing his mother to cancer, it’s just heartbreaking. I just want to give him a hug. I love him so much! ❤🥺

@@bloomblakie7541 Which time? At Molly's he takes a bullet to the shoulder - Gabby puts pressure and we see him in bandages but it scarcely phases him- he just keeps his gun on Arthur. The guy who set the high rise fire shot him when jay went rogue and hunted him down and Angela shot him in that basement. He was also shot AT when he was getting drinks with Erin and the bartender girl he was sweet on got shot. But all 3 times I specified he was shot.
This took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Wow, now i wish there was one for each character😭

This is why I adore jays and haileys friendship and partnership so much. She is able to be a source of steadiness for him to lean on when he drowns in his thoughts too much and he is able to help her back too by being their for her too. She and him are similar in the aspect that they don’t open up to people nor seek help easily, and rather just say “I’m fine”. But hailey pushes him to open by doing small things, like being there for him when he wants to be alone bc she knows that they both tend to go deep in thoughts when they do, how she told him to take therapy seriously or at least try too, or else she would have to find a new partner. Always checking in on him by asking him if he’s alright but not pushing for answers and instead just standing by him to let him know she’s there for him. Being the first one to open up by admitting that she would blindly follow him bc she trusts him, so it lets him feel secure to open himself back. #Upstead 😭💕🥰
I agree. I think Jay needed someone like Hailey more. Basically he needed someone (like Mouse) who would make him to get help but without pushing him too hard.

jay has been through so much that no one talks about, he has to live with the guilt that when he was busy fighting for this country his mom lost her battle to cancer and his dad won't let him let it down. He has lost everyone important to him but Will and they obviously don't always get along, no one except Mouse knew what happened to him in the military and Mouse left him to return to it. Imagine how he feels having everyone important to him gone, having no one he feels he can be honest to and having to fight everyday just to get up and go to work. His brain probably has such bad thoughts going through it but he knows what it's like to lose someone and feel like you could've even if you couldn't and he didn't want to put his friends and family through that.

Don't forget he's been shot at least twice now too and was unintentionally responsible for the death of a little girl in a previous season when a bullet from his gun hit her. Dude has been through hell and is still going strong.

Yeah, he also has gotten shot 3 times, went to war and has trauma from it, suffered from ptsd and still does, didn’t mean to shoot a little girl and kill her, and suffered from drinking and still does just not as bad

Main difference between Hailey and Erin is that when Jay isn’t being himself and scaring people hailey says,” hey you’re not thinking straight, you’re being crazy,” while Erin just says,”I know.”
Those were two different situations erin knows jay and everyone there knows he didn’t kill Lonnie that’s why she says “I know” and also Erin knows not to over step cause Jay will talk when he’s ready if it was either to her, will or mouse when they were still on the show (mouse and Erin)

I really want to start this series but I saw that there were lots of other derivative series, like Chicago med or fire so I don’t know the order to watch this...
you can find online which episodes intersect but i think if you want to just watch one that's fine!! i watched p.d. first before watching the others (even though fire started first) and as long as you find out which episodes are crossovers and watch the counterparts and maybe read up on who the main characters are from each series you should be fine!! hope you enjoy it, it's truly a great show xx
