My grandmother made some knitted versions of this for my mom in the 50s! (With *very* scratchy wool). I can't wait to make this with a softer yarn and give it to her. She'll love it.
I love that idea!
Try alpaca fleece! ;) Synthetics smell weird and will make you too warm and make your hair staticky.
That is adorable. It looks like something from the 50's to keep hair in place in a convertible. So cute
My grandma made several of these for me in 1952-3. I got lots of earaches and this kept me covered. Love this. Thank you grandma.
Oh my , my Mother made these for me. I have all her patterns but not this one. I' m 73 and so happy to finally have this. Mithers and daughters alike would wear them. Thank you so much😢
I remember wearing one as a child that my mother made for me.
Thanks for this video! My aunt asked me if I had a pattern for a hat like this, but I could find only a knit pattern. I fudged it in Tunisian so she would have a hat. Now I can make another for her! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 😀👍👍👍
I wore this type of hats when I was a little girl even my Easter hat was the same shape but woven with ribbons and flowers.
I am just thrilled that I found this channel! I love to find foreign doily patterns that I can’t read and just go by the diagram sometimes even just the picture! So fun and challenging.
After that crazy amazing purse you deserve doing this easy pattern! It's so cute too!
We wore these in the early 60’s they were white mohair and super soft! I am going to make one for my great grand baby for next winter.
I LOVE this pattern!! I think it would be soooo cute with a crochet flower attached to it to!! I’m going to make up some of these for Christmas presents. Thanks for sharing!!
You are SO sweet,The headbands look adorable, I'm kind of a beginner,But I might give this a try, You and I can look good taking the dog for a walk or maybe getting the mail 🙂
Make it in Green and it looks like a leave 🌿
I was just thinking that I have some lovely green yarn that I could use. Now you cemented my choice of yarn with your comment. Thank you so much.
I too had several of these growing up in 1960s Canada. Great for warm ears. Thanks for the memories Corinna
Can ya make mine with two or three layers? Ever since I was in Duluth Minnesota waiting for the primary school bus one mornin', in -74°windchill weather that was whipping up to be a blizzard later - which actually buried our three-story School to halfway of the third floor windows* - I really don't like the cold or blustery winds. I didn't get home until 9:30 that night. All the people in charge of such jobs, had to get the snow plows out on extra duty to clear roads to all schools and to the bus barn, as well as dig out any other schools that got buried.
* Now that I'm grown, I'm thinking, maybe that was only on the windward side where the snow made a huge drift against the building, but they did say they had to dig us out. Once again, maybe that's the case, and that, coincidentally, is where a main entrance to the school is/was. I do remember leaving through the double doors where I always entered the school. Now I'm wondering about the fire code safety rules about egress/ Escape Routes. Whenever we had fire drills we always went out those doors. Surely those were not the only doors? What do I know I was in 3rd grade, and was governed every minute.

In case of fire, jump out the window and into the snow! I know in harsher climates, everybody has to "suck it up", but it does sound like somebody goofed. You guys should have been off!
Very cute! Easy ear warmer!
I sat mesmerized as I watched your hands creating this beautiful little headband. I can see in different colors with the edging and the center accent in complementary colors. I love the way it comes over the ears and will keep the ears warm. It's great for riding in a car with the top down too. I'm going to make myself a few of these. Thanks for sharing this pattern.
thank you so much for showing in centimetres!!!
Would be great to wear in a convertible.
I'm going to make one for my mom to cover her ears while she's out. I hope she likes it.
The bonnet reminds me of the ones my grandmother and mother made for me as a child 😊🌸. Why I remember them so well is how itchy they were 😊💜
The result of that stitch is so pretty, I'm not sure if I've seen it before (I'm not a big crocheter).
When I started knitting I got a big bag of yarn in a charity shop, the wrappers said it was DK weight, when I next bought DK yarn it was like half the thickness!!! Discovering Wraps Per Inch was mind blowing, I now only measure in WPI and I can't help thinking yarn would be easier to pick/understand if the wrappers had the WPI, too, as it would override all the international yarn weight names.
Adorable little headband/hat and easily adjustable to fit anyone! Thank you for a quick and easy pattern. Excellent!😊
Thank you! 😊
Well I just finished crocheting this beautiful headband it took a long time but I did it 😊😊😊thank you so very much for sharing I love ❤️ it 😊😊😊I hope to make more of them 😊😊😊😊
I was just thinking that this would be a good project for Easter. I love lavender or iris purple and yellow together. Then I realized that it would be great for St. Patrick's Day -- green and gold, baby!
I wore a headband like this when a 3 in 1963. I wanted to make this for my granddaughter. Thank you. 💜
I'm making this tomorrow! This would be perfect for wearing on long haul international flights. I'm travelling to the U.S. soon, I need this little hat.
I had one, back in the day. It was knitted and pink.
I can remember wearing this style headband. The prettiest ones were angora or mohair blend yarns. In the early sixties they were embellished with giant sequins or faux pearls. You could also tie it under your hair in the back instead of under the chin.
I remember wearing one of these made from angora when i was a little girl back in the mid-fifties. Always loved that little hat/headband. Kept my ears toasty warm, too! Thanks, Corinna, for that flashback!
My mom made me a couple of these when I was little. Such a long time ago.
So pretty! I walk my dog at a park up the street. It is always so windy and my hair goes everywhere. This is so much more stylish than wearing a ball cap. ❤
My head is already jumping to different versions, with flowers, with a bow... well it would work as facinater probably. On the List.
SOY TOTALMENTE VINTAGE ! ESTÁ HERMOSO , MIL GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR PRENDAS TAN LINDAS ! SALUDOS DESDE MÉXICO !!!
Wow wow God bless you for posting this pattern..I was looking for this since last year..thank you so much ❤️ 🙏
Love this! Looks like an old "Workbasket" pattern. Nice, simple and fast. I have plenty of yarn to do this with.
I think I'll just call it an earwarmer... because that's what it is. The cool thing about it is that you can add an extra layer inside it because, usually, knitted or crocheted ear warmers are never enough if they are a single layer.
neat, i have some extra cream aran wool thats incredibly soft and i think i might try this as a break from the thread shawl im making. i just cut my hair for spring and now my pin curls look like a clown wig 😂 i desperately need to cover them up on day 1 after showering
Sounds great!
Oh I think I’m just going to love making this headband thanks for sharing your tutorial 😊😊😊😊
I remember having one of these headbands/hats made with a very soft and somewhat fuzzy white yarn (angora, maybe).
P.S. when doing BLO ribbing, I always go through both loops on the first and last stitch for a better looking finish.
Thank you so much for showing us this! I really love your added tip for how you turn smoothly! Thumb's up to you.
Love this,, thinking about working with a smaller weight yarn for summer windy days.❤️👍
Very very pretty and easy to do also for children thank you for sharing
This is soooo perfect for people who don't want to wear a hat and yet need something to keep the top of their head and ears warm. There's nothing worse in the world than "hat head," lol! 😂 This is the answer to that! Thank you so much!
How beautiful and easy💞
Thank You as always for your hard work!
Leticia
Really cute, one can put some crochet flower on it or similar
This was easy and relaxing to do thanks for video !!
Love the hat!!! Thank you for sharing the patterns you use!
Very nice
I will make a red one in knitting way for my new nephew or niece

I wore these as a child in the 1960's. I loved them. I remember the last one was white . I'll make one soon.
Cute. Perfect for quick trip out in the wind/cold. Very functional and simple detail adds pop. 🧡🧡🧡
My grandmother made these for my sister and I to wear in the cold, windy days of the 1950s. Thank you for the wonderful memories. I will be making these for my great granddaughters, they are a beautiful hat/ headband.
I had several of these that my mom and grandmother made
I wore these all the time in late 50's and 60's. It was black with white pearls. Thank you so much for finding this pattern. Can't wait to make one. Have a wonderful day! 😊
I made up one in umbre blue yesterday and I just love it! I will be making more!
hiya corinna! i remember these in the 60's. loved mine - white if i remember correctly. for us it was a lil hat for breezy, cool days. just might make some. xoxo
I remember the girls wearing something similar in the 1950s
Every Christmas, my Nanny would make one for me and each of my cousins.
I always wanted to make it but couldn't find a pattern. I'm so glad you did this video. Thank you so much.
This reminds me of the headband Kirstin Dunst wore in "Little Women". I always liked it, but it seemed too old fashioned looking, but this one does not, so I think I'll try it.
I had stared at this pattern for weeks and finally bought it a few weeks ago. Its such a cute and quick make. I cant believe I got a vintage pattern before you! My brain exploded lol. The only thing with this pattern is I find it needs blocking and im not 100% sure how to. Cause it ripples a bit.
I love this! I'm sure u can make this for kids!❤
Thank you so, so much for this pattern. I've been looking for this pattern for a while. Living in Michigan my ears get real cold and now I can give them a nice covering.
Hello Corrina cute little cap / headband. I had something similar as a child, my sisters and I. But the back portion was a little bit longer coming down closer to the nape of the neck. It was made out of mostly I think red heart yarn but when red heart yarn was a little bit cheaper grade. than it is now Not quite as soft. as some of the red heart yarn is nowadays. Thanks for the video Looking forward to the next one.
Too cute. Thank you. I want to make theses too.
That’s very cute.
As a really new newbie this looks like a great project (so many beginner patterns want me to work in a round). The repetitive nature makes it a great practice piece. I can see a young girl making it for that reason. I was about to just give up on crochet
At first I wasn’t too sure about this, but dang it, it is really cute!🥰🥰
Quite a change of pace, but oh so cute. Thank you for sharing!
So cute! Perfect for spring time!
Yes. It would be good with cotton yarn, I think.
@@bigred9428I think so too, I will make one!
So cute!
Such a lovely thing to make. I have granddaughters and i am sure they would love receiving these!
I was literally looking for thiss😭😭
It would look cute if you used a contrasting colored yarn for the slip stitch detail.
I love this. Yes, I had one of these in the 50's! Thank you so much. Love it. You are fantastic.!
Great timing. I needed a break from knitting and my daughter won’t let me finish her blanket.
This is a beautiful pattern, and I think it would be great to make in a luxury yarn that you maybe wouldn't want to buy for a large project.
I just finished this pattern and oh my goodness…so cute and quick! Thank you for keeping these vintage/antique patterns alive
This reminds me of the winter headband my mom made me in the 80’s, except that she attached a pompom and some little corkscrew tails to it.
Super cute!
😊 this was the perfect timing, i was looking at this exact same pattern on pinterest wondering if i should make it! ❤
I love this. Can't wait to make some on different colors. Thank you Corinna
Super cute ❤
Very cute!!!
This is adorable!! ❤
I had two of these in the early '60's grade school both in angora, one pink, one in cream. My Mom tied them not under my chin but at the nape of my neck. The cream one had a matching tube to put your hands in.
🤩 merci beaucoup
For the surface crochet, instead of trying to figure out how long a tail you need, you could pull your yarn from the outside and from the centre
That was fun. Thanks.
A great ear warmer.
Lol this brings back memories. My aunt made these to us for christmas
AH it is soo cute
My sisters and I wore these as little girls in the 70s
Beautiful
I love this pattern! I know what will be in my granddaughters' stockings in December.
I love this! I've made knitted versions. Time to return to crochet!
i agree-its soooo cute!
I love it...
What a cute little make ❤ I love the way it's totally continuous x very well done x
This would be awesome on windy days 😍❤️
