It is so cool when we can make a hybrid armature wire and ball and socket

Not sure why this doesn't have more views. Very helpful video!

I had a question regarding the foam going in the oven. In the video, I attached the foam before making the hands and feet. I do go on to say that you should not do it this way round and I only ended up doing this way because I was juggling some other things at the time of filming and took my eye of the ball. I would highly recommend that you attach the foam once all the polymer clay modelling is complete. I did do a test prior to baking the foam and as the temperature for baking Super Sculpey is not very high and in the oven very long it was absolutely fine. I also always put everything I put in my oven on a piece of aluminium foil n my baking tray incase of accidents. My oven is electric and would definitely not have attempted to do this in a gas oven.
Thank you wonderwoman for your question. I hope I answered it for you.

Great work, I love your approach to stop motion, I think too many times people fail because of the process being so complicated, sometimes less is more!

Just getting into making stop motion as a hobby (litterally a few days in) and this is one of the most helpful tutorials I've come across. All my previous attempts were pretty poor, but I impressed myself with the outcome by just following you. So thanks.
Also, just enjoyable to watch an true artist at work. Great job.

I'm not very far into this video yet but just wanted to say thanks to you good sir, it seems like you have a difficult time on camera but not everyone who is comfortable on film are best suited to give in-depth instruction / visual guides. Your work is phenomenal and if you ever returned to do more videos it would be a lovely day on the tube :)

The music was ok but I had to use captions to fully catch what you were saying over the music. Good info though.

What materials would you be using for a fully movable sculpture for a film.

I wish that you would make another of these. From what I could see, it was really interesting and informative … but like hearing half a phone call. By the time the head was nearly finished I couldn’t stay with it any more, with the figure and hands disappearing out of the bottom of the frame all the time. Just too frustrating..

He quickly just showed doing the hands and feet because it is the same process we saw for the head, which he showed the sculpting of in full detail. It was only the last seconds that it was slightly out of frame and he finished the head.

Also, I've seen people using foam or cotton padding as a filler. But I've also seen some using tinfoil like you're using. Do you think either one has a bigger benefit ?
Personally I wonder how the head stays together well when the clay can't stick to the core. But I guess there's no other option to make the head light.

What spray did you use on the upholstery foam to stick them together?

Umm, you use polymer clay ? Normally plasticine clay is used, to make the face & hands moldable during frames.
Are you planning to use replaceable faces ? Maybe you addressed this in the video. It's kinda long, so I skipped many parts.

    • @ma6rogers46

You can use Plasticine clay, and super sculpley. I use both.

I use polymer clay, actually Bondo just don't add hardener unless you want it not flexible.
