i'm disappointed how easily Heimdall gets defeated throughout these movies, he's suppose to be like the 3rd or 2nd strongest in Asgard yet he's easily frozen in this scene and his defeat when Thanos shows up is not even shown, implying he lost just as easily.... they made him way too weak

I feel like the Loki tv show, while incredible, COMPLETELY forgot how powerful, strong, durable, and capable he is.
It felt like they neutered him when he was getting bodied by normal humans in the TVA after standing toe to toe with Avengers and gods.
TVA took away his powers including his strength.

XD He wasn't supposed to let Thor through to Jotunheim, he wasn't supposed to let Thor's friends through to Earth, and he disobeyed Odin in Dark World to help Thor. "Need no longer obey you"? When did you start??
Because Heimdall is not an idiot lapdog that obeys every command. Heimdall knows Odin is infallible and wants to do what's best for Asgard.

-He's concerned that 3 frost giants snuck into Asgard and wants to know how it happened. Odin didn't seem to care.

-He knew Loki was a traitor and up to no good. Thor's were the best chance at figuring out what was happening at the time.

-He knew Odin was being irrational after Friga was killed.
These are all explained in-universe and in keeping with the character. No good soldier is ever supposed to obey every command to the letter.
The thing is, Heimdall isn't your run of the mill guard. He sees more than Odin.

Honestly this version of Loki (along with dark world) were my most favorites. It may seem like an unpopular opinion, but idk…I feel like he’s a whole different vibe?
Yeah I hope they change that with the series. It's like he became weaker and weaker. He lost a little of his cunningness. Maybe bc he lost himself too. Who knows
I think it's actual competence that we're missing in him. He was an actual threat in the first two Thor movies (and in the first Avengers film). From Thor Ragnarok onward (into the Loki tv show) he's been largely ineffective at everything he aims to do.
I'm admittedly only on the third episode so far, but the Loki tv show has thus far disappointed me immensely for this. Part of the fun behind a premise of "Loki is the main character" is that he's supposedly a giga big-brain schemer of sorts. At the very least someone with some genuine sleight of hand and charisma. But from what I've seen so far, he's basically blundering around and screwing things up while other characters drive the plot forward. Every moment he's acted like a fool in the show so far, I've been expecting him to just be putting on an act so as to put the people around him off their guard, and I kept anticipating that he's building toward some impressive Captain Jack Sparrow-esque machinations and plots that'd be revealed at every moment. But no, he's just legitimately incompetent.
If the show would actually be him doing some impressive deceptions and improvisatory scheming, I would be very much pleased with it. But the character has lost anything that made him impressive.
All that said, I have only seen so much of the show, so this is merely my impression thus far. With any luck, things'll pick up.
yeah, he was actually competent and powerful. After Thor: The Dark World, Loki just became comic relief, and Thor went from Shakespearean Hero to comic relief and power fantasy.

It’s not an unpopular opinion, this is the version of Loki that first got Marvel fans hooked to the MCU. But now the Loki that we got in the series is just a sometimes magical dude who keeps getting shafted in his own tv series.

It one of those rare mistakes the MCU made. Heimdall size in this movie is to show he's not Asgardian but in later movies he is part of the Asgardian people so making him the same size reflex this.

I love Loki just as you but at this scene specifically you can see, Heimdall never disrespected him, he was just letting him know that thanks to his gifts he knows what he did. He was under his command, but Heimdall at some point even goes against the will of Odin allfather to help do the right thing which was to let Thor go. He's guardian of asgard and must protect it from anything no matter what and if that means to go against his god and king he will do so to fulfill his duty. However he would never raise his sword towards Loki when he was still a king in Odin's absence, he did when he was relieved of his duties. Not to mention Loki wasn't doing finest here either. He more than once guided enemies of asgard. Once brought Laufi to his father's bed to prove he can also be guardian like Thor, second time he guided the corrupted dark elf to his father's chamber, resulting the death of only one whom he loved and that person loved him unconditionally 100times more even when he was wrong, Frigga his mother.
You have to earn respect. You are not entitled to it. Good life lesson for ya

@@weirdo5555 No, all Frost Giants have cryokinesis (in fact they use their powers in the movie), Loki is the only who didn't have that power, that, and his size, is the reason why he was abandoned to die by Laufey.
He still didn't see himself fully as a frost giant. Although he accepted not being asgardian..he still never fully embraced his Frost side.

@@Kal911 I wouldn't go that far. Even through his bitterness of being lied to by Odin of who he really was, he wasn't deaf to why Odin had adopted him in the first place. He was unwanted on Jotunheim. That kind of bitterness would create a complete denial of him being a frost giant at all. He only turned blue here because of the Casket's influence.
That kind of denial would repress his powers.
But now Loki's seen that there is more to what he can do than he's realized, with what Richard E Grant's older Loki did. He could potentially break that barrier and realize his Jotun powers as well.
