No better feeling fixing a something others would just throw out. I’ve got a heat pump dryer its been going well for over a decade with only minor repairs like replacing the drum belt and a crappy bit of plastic broke behind the stop stat button that supposed to tap the micro switch on the main board I had to completely replace the lot with new second hand board for about £35 delivered. Also give it blast with compressed air and flush and clean inside between the condenser and the water pump.through whilst there because the lint builds up inside and on the condenser fins. Saved us a few times with repairs. Keep the content coming. Appreciate your posts. Glad you’re all doing well.. cheers 🍻
The problem is that it is often cheaper to replace something rather than repair it unlike back in the day when things were built to last and could be repaired cheaply.
I totally stripped a hotpoint Ultima some years back and replaced the drum bearings..flipping job that was but yeah its a sense of achievement when it all works out, cheers David 😁
My LG was new in 2016 and the door clicks twice but only when unlocking. It is well reliable and has run at least twice a week since new. The motor and its inverter has a 10 year warrunt on it.
Well done! A very nice video sharing of your, great "LG Washing Machine Unused for 7 years, it was never going to be that easy"! Full support & Best of luck po/Ned 👏🎉👏
Similar happened to us....luckily we have the name of a local guy who fixes domestic appliances. We have used his services several times for various issues from cookers to washing machines. He is both reliable & gets the job done. We very much reccomend him to everyone. We would highly reccomend him to you but sadly he only does Castleford & surrounding areas. Sorry :)
Good machines them... We had one for 12 years and we are a family of 5 so it took a real beating. Only issue was the motor went but had it replaced and it went on for years.
Nice one Alan, compaired to some of the jobs ive seen you tackle that was a breeze for you.And im with Tyler tell him to piis off and find a proper job.
Alan i changed the door rubber seal years ago, the steel ring was on the inside of the rubber seal but instead of being a spring at the bottom it was a screw, the same as a radiator hose, like a huge jubilee clip, you were lucky the ring was on the outside, lucky gitt, 😂 just saying from North of Newcastle 🇬🇧 🍺👍
Alan that shower screen is known to fail at the hinges. The glass is not shatterproof and if the door hinges fail while you're exiting after a shower there is a possibility that the door will fall and break into large shards of glass. Check those hinges and make sure the glass is rated for shower usage by looking if the glass has been stamped.
Hi thanks. I did check there are markings on the glass door and side panel saying “Asia temp glass corp. tempered”. No bs kite marks out here but those glass panels are very thick and heavy and very expensive 8 years ago but all looks good Cheers
These LGs are generally reliable washing machines, they last around 10 - 15 years. After which the drum spider usually breaks through a process of being weakened by the washing powder which slowly attacks the alloy, dissolving and oxidising it, causing a fracture and failure! Not all the types of spiders are available as spares for every model number so it might mean a complete placement machine is necessary, as I discovered after dismantling mine.
@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 I have a lg similar to Alan's it has a direct drive no belt. It's been a good machine over the years I've had it. I always had aeg before like my family you get about 20 years out of those but alas couldn't find any German made ones so opted for the LG
I bet the humidity out there must play havoc with this kind of equipment. Sounds like you have a fair bit of plumbing and electrics to do Alan. It can't be as hard as working on Mondeos.
hi Chris.. I think they do, bought a hotpoint some years back which took a dump on its first wash, the repair guy plugged a laptop into the washer and condemned the control panel
Please help Mr mondeo guru Mondeo 2008 2.2 diesel Fitted new battery New starter New fuel filter Egr dpf delete with remap Still has an intermittent poor starting issue Noticed a bit of air in the fuel lines is this normal? Thankyou
hi, is it hard to start when hot or left over night. I would check all under bonnet fuel pipes for chaffing etc plus the fuel pipe with the valve in it near the high pressure fuel pump can draw in air. also had the fuel injector leak off pipes where they connect to the injectors drawing in air over night and causing poor starting in the morning. do you get clouds of blue smoke when you start the car. good luck
@alan4x thanks for replying your a star, once it's started and driven it starts perfect after, it's normally after it's left over night the next day the poor starting happens again.
in that case I would definitely replace the injector leak off pipes as the o ring seals shrink and allow air to enter the system. Had that many times but on the 4.5 mondeo models. Have a very good look at plastic fuel pipes where they could chaff like on timing belt cover etc. a tiny hole will cause your issue.
Your young un :) . Tel him & tell him good & propper, he aint Bruce Waine, He's Robin. Batman has gone through many trials & hard work. Therefore Batman is in charge & Robin follows. xxx
@alan4x doesn't youre lg calculate the water it needs like mine alan . It has a very clever way of measuring what's in the drum then calculates the amount it needs for that particular amount of washing using less water than other machines. Clever machines although the direct drive makes them quiet sometimes you think are they working lol
Typically Filipinos hand wash their laundry early mornings. Having a washing machine is classed as luxurious. “Hugas nang bandera” meaning to wash laundry.
@alan4x sound as a euro mate, you seem to be living the dream out there, long may it last, I think you've done the right thing leaving the UK, it's in serious decline. Enjoy.
He may be helping but it gets to the point where you cant use the shop without some one skanking off you every time. We get it in the UK now, you cant even go into B and Q without some charity or window salesman bothering you on the way in or out of the place.
I love the Asian top loading machines; simple and last forever. The western front loading ones have a design flaw; the spider y mechanism on the drum will break as its defying gravity what with all that weight on the central spindle. Thus never buy a Western style machine in Asia!
Have had two front loaders fail due to broken spline on drum. First was an Electrolux which was so old it was not worth replacing; second was a Bosch and I changed the drum, but am unlikely to do that again as the spare parts are so expensive. In Thailand I have bought two top loading Samsungs; both the cheapest models, and apart from mice eating through wires (and me repairing them) they are still going strong; the oldest is around 20 years old.
@@armunro I learned a while ago that the expensive machines don't necessarily last longer. I usually now buy Beko branded white goods as they are cheap, and so far, reliable. I had a Bosch dishwasher which had a mechanical programmer/timer/selector and a tiny fragment of the plastic mechanism inside it broke, rendering the machine unusable. The cost for a new programmer/ timer/selector was almost the same as an entire brand new Beko dishwasher with an electronic programmer, so I bought that instead! There was nothing else wrong with the Bosch one, but it was deliberately designed to break and be too expensive to fix, in the hope you'd just buy another one from them. No chance! I'll never buy an expensive brand again.
l never liked the idea of having pooped nappies and dirty undies in the same place as you prepare food, here downunder its not done, in the kitchen uner the bench is an over or dishwasher, the washing machine is in the laundry room or bathroom. sometimes the laundry room can be a closet
