I'm still trying to process how Bunny knew with whom you were texting, but that last one where she chose to "Settle" instead of going for a walk was absolutely priceless.
The most likely explanation that isn’t just pure coincidence to me is that it has to do with smell. There is scientific research to support the claim that dogs can actually smell our emotions, along with the fact that any dog owner could tell you that dogs are able to sense different emotions and then mirror them or offer support. So to me it doesn’t seem too far fetched that our smell could change slightly when we talk to or think about certain people. Because we obviously have feelings about the people we know so maybe Bunny associates a specific smell in Alexis with Julie?
@@Cllocopine Smell could certainly be a factor. And I suspect that her Mom's patterns when texting change from person-to-person. Even we could detect those.
When I was a kid, I always knew when my dad was talking to his uncle on the phone, even from 2 rooms away. His voice would deepen by a factor of 3, and an accent appeared that he never used with another else (he spent summers with him as a boy; they had a special connection). With a close relationship like that, I bet there are other “tells” in the body language, too.
@@Vamooso I think so too. Bunny is so smart. She probably associates texting with Julie. The trick will be whether she can understand that Alexis can communicate with others on the phone too. I hope Alexis starts to tell Bunny who she is texting. If Bunny gets it, I think she will begin to ask who mom is texting. If so, my mind will be blown. AGAIN!
Bunny is not the first dog to use human language, I believe the first dog is named Stella. Her human was working as speech therapist if I remember correctly and got the idea to try the buttons on her dog. She wrote a book about it.
Huh. One of my fav things here is that Bunny helps me imagine what my dog is thinking… they see us on our phones so much- can they realize this is how we communicate with other humans??? Hard to imagine but they are so intuitive! Maybe?
hmm but probably the way she figured out Julie was through the phone is because Mom talks to Julie and then Julie appears later, and if Mom says talking to Julie when on phone then bunny would figure that out...
My dog knows how I talk with my mom and brother during online gaming, so he comes over to ask for my headset when they are on so they can say hi to him because he misses them. He doesn't care is it's my other friends lol. His little tail wags and he presses his ear to the headphone cup to let me know they are still talking to him and pulls away when they ask for me. Dogs get it, especially if you show them stuff when they show curiosity, same as toddlers. My dog even learned that the keyboard controls the stuff on my screen! He was sitting in my chair one day when I had to afk and was making my character jump and run in circles, wagging his tail like a maniac lol! He had been resting his head on my arm for a couple days watching my fingers and the screen to figure it out, he even had his other paw on the mouse but couldn't quite figure that part out lol! He eventually stopped trying to play my character because he got bored and had no context. He was also in the bad habit of turning off my phone alarm... no idea how he learned that one but I've caught him doing it a lot, and when I changed phones he started hiding it under the pillow when it wasn't stopping lol. He understands that I make my computer screen move when I'm at it, family is sometimes in the little phone boxes and ear cups, and I've seen him drooling while watching Food Network, because he understands the tiny people are working in the kitchen and saying food words (something he only does while watching us in the kitchen). I think pets try to be as much a part of our life as we let them and they understand, and just fill in the blanks with 'humans are magic sometimes' and this mostly applies to cars and electronics.
Dang, that is amazing. I like how she looks in the mirror sometimes and talks to you-your reflection. No park? amazing she knows what she wants, smart Bunny.
I’ve probably told this here before but my granddaughter crashed out one afternoon and my service dog in training suddenly hurried across the yard to the lounger she was sleeping on and rolled and rubbed all over her. She woke up telling the dog to stop and I even told her to be easy. Shortly thereafter, my granddaughter recalled a dream she was having and just when it was starting to “get weird” is when Ms. Spotless came from across the yard to wake her up. While Ms. Spotless was trained to wake people from nightmares, the child appeared to be sleeping peacefully. How did she know?
Ok I get that she can use the buttons, but what blows my mind is that she knows what the words mean! How did that happen? I have always believed that dogs understand our words and have taken a vow of silence since birth. I feel like Bunny found a loophole with her vow! Simply amazing!
Bunny recognizes and knows more English words than she has buttons for. I was thinking is there a way for the dog to express the desire of which English word to add next to expand her collection of buttons instead of mum choosing? I think mum can bring in a new empty button, and ask Bunny if she prefer it be recorded with "texting" rather than "bark" or other words Bunny already knows but don't have buttons for yet!
I'd be tempted to use the phrase "Mom's car ouch", even though Bunny could get the wrong idea that cars are living things. Bunny's psychic Julie reference would have been creepy if it hadn't been so adorable. Julie friend.
