    • @chrisconley8583

Bill Thehat they weren’t seen as counter culture enough. They played on a State Department sponsored tour in Eastern Europe, which at the time was poorly regarded by the young of America They did it in exchange for the lead singer needed some visa problems cleared up, he is Canadien/British.
They also did a sort of residency at Caesars Palace in Vegas. Again, though they were connected to the popular rock bands of the era, this was not looked at positively by the young rock fans at the time.
I can’t say I blame them for doing either. It’s always nice to have a get out of jail card and a steady gig with steady pay for musicians of the era was a luxury back then.

I saw them live in 1969 from about 20 feet away, at the Marjorie Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD - two nights in a row. I lived 20 minutes from the venue, it was summer, and we managed to get some tickets. Great concert - at the end of the 2nd night, they said that that was their last performance on their tour and were going on hiatus for a while, so they thought they'd jam for a while. After about an extra hour of concert, they finally broke for the night. It was wonderful. One of my favorite groups of the late 1960s.

Born in early sixties i've never stopped listening to AM radio when driving , because of songs like these, for that feeling of distance especially at night between you and the station fading in and out, don't care about the audio quality, am mono and all the dirtyness that comes in with AM. A particular feel for what others ears can't tolerate is a symphony to me.

    "Spinning Wheel" Lyrics...
What goes up, must come down
Spinning wheel got to go round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles, it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony, let the spinning wheel spin
You got no money and you, you got no home
    Spinning wheel, all alone
Talkin' 'bout your troubles and you, you never learn
Ride a painted pony, let the spinning wheel turn
Did you find a directing sign on the straight and narrow highway?
Would you mind a reflecting sign?
Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colors that are real
Someone is waiting just for you
    Spinning wheel spinning through
Drop all your troubles by the riverside
Catch a painted pony on the spinning wheel ride
    Ha!
    Someone's waiting just for you
    Spinning wheel spinning through
Drop all your troubles by the riverside
Ride a painted pony, let the spinning wheel fly
This was one of my dads favourite songs.
He is no longer with us now, I miss him...

I still love it as much as I did in 1969. Blood, Sweat and Tears what a band, still amazing! David Clayon-Thomas what a voice. I am so glad that I can hear it (and see it) at UA-cam om my iMac.

Blood Sweat & Tears! This is a perfect song, definitely in my top 10 favorite songs of all time. David Clayton-Thomas had an amazing, unique voice and the band is fantastic! This has got to the best live performance of the this song hands down.

BST was an innovator, they influenced Chicago and Steely Dan.

Same time as Chicago, different influences. CTA and Child is Father to the Man came out the same year.

Hard to say who influenced who. A lot of groups came up around the same time with a similar sound, like Sons of Champlin. Maybe Vehicle by Ides Of March was a direct influence, even the lead singer sounded like DCT. Maybe you could argue the Beatles influenced them all, with Got To Get You Into My Life. ;)

Yup, I remember this song- used to hear it all the time at my first job, a discount retail store on Long Island. Always found it catchy, easy to listen to- only recently discovered these here on YT; I'd forgotten about them til that point. Glad I found them!

@@harmonytunes3949 You are such an asshole. To the end of his life Lew could play the solo on Spinning Wheel going all the way up to High A. That's for what an asshole you are.

Blood Sweat and Tears was a group that when it came on the radio you cranked it up. And it's time Blood Sweat and Tears was one of the greatest artists that hit the stage. They put the word concert in concert. Well over 4 hours. This era turned out the greatest music ever heard there was nothing like the 60s. The Sounds will never be duplicated again. I know I lived it. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😘
