What IS Deliverance? | with Tailah Scroggins

- In this episode of Heaven & Healing Podcast, I welcome back my friend Tailah Scroggins to talk more about deliverance. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our previous episode together, where Tailah shares her testimony and we talk on topics like cessationism, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, church hurt, refining seasons with the Lord, and counterfeit healing of the New Age.
This follow-up discussion is primarily centered on deliverance, since it is such a hot topic amongst the body of Christ right now. Our prayer here is to bring clarity and edification to our brothers and sisters, using the Word of God as our basis of reasoning.
This is the first time I share my testimony of how I was delivered from unclean spirits over a year after I accepted Christ as my Savior, repented for my sins and received Him in faith December 2021. This deliverance follows shortly both my water and Holy Spirit baptisms, both at the beginning months of 2023.
As I share, Tailah - who has years of experience within this area in her own church that believes in the importance of casting out demons - explains the biblical foundation of what that means exactly, and why it is indeed appropriate for the Christian to receive deliverance.
Do not hear what we are not saying in this discussion…
We are NOT negating the work Jesus did on the cross. We are NOT saying deliverance is the answer for every problem a Christian has in their life. We are NOT saying that true repentance is not required… In fact, I will be recording another episode with my dear sister in Christ Naela on the tail of this episode with Tailah, to expand upon and highlight some crucial components that Tailah and I either missed or did not fully cover in this episode. So before you cast stones, be sure to check out that when it is released. :)
We believe that there is a biblical stance on this that can eliminate the current climate that swings from one equally destructive end of the pendulum: “deliverance is a no” to the other end of deliverance mania - and we pray you will discern that with us, using our precious Word of God.
This is how iron sharpens iron: dialogue. Not heresy hunting and slander.

I just wanted to share. I am a physician, a Christian for a long time, but on a journey to sanctification due to you and Tailah. I secretly prayed for the recovery of one of my patients on Sunday who had basically no hope. She made a miraculous 5 day turn around after being stalled for months in the ventilator. I “applied” the teaching, commanded healing in Jesus name, and broke generational curses. I am still waking up every day looking at her chart shocked. It was a secret, the unit does not know how this happened. Btw I work with children, and I do think generational curses are huge. I know now the FEAR of God, nothing like seeing a miracle to shred the thick veil and make us really know God. Feels like the World melting away around you.
I remember feeling like tarot card readers on UA-cam were so in-sync with me and my life. Then they stopped making any sense. Then your interview with Michael Knowles popped up and I was so resistant at first. Your story started clicking things into place once I found the brains to listen. Probably not a coincidence your name has angel in it! I'm thankful for you and your channel. These episodes have been great blessings. You and Tailah are a brilliant combo!

Thank you! As I was renouncing my sinuses started popping and I was coughing as it was being cast out. My eyes started to feel pressure and the unclean spirits hindering my vision started squirming. Jealousy, envy, bitterness all made me squirm. My body shook when she mentioned the yoga spirits and I teared up as she cast out the strong man. Thank you Lord that this work is done. Increase my faith and that of all those watching. Thank you for these women of God 🙏

I was so sad when I saw the interview months ago with the lady who came out of selling tarot cards and she discouraged people against getting deliverance just because she had been duped out of going to people to that charged her money for it. And she said we don’t have authority to talk to demons like that. Yes we do! It really upset me and I could tell in the interview that you didn’t really know where you stood on that topic at the time.
I’m soooooo thankful that the Lord has led you to the right people to help you understand that deliverance is real and sometimes necessary and that you have experienced it for yourself. I went through deliverance last October after some very supernatural events led me to even realize what it was. I am so thankful for you and Tailah it here spreading the truth of deliverance!
Now there has been something wrong with my hands since I had covid in november 2021. But I wasn't sure it was because of covid. I have been to a neurologist since this issue was growing worse and worse. At times I can't work or even put on my clothes or hold a fork. Just my hands are so weak and I can't control it. I have tried everything I could think of. In my soul I always had a feeling that this could be spiritual or trauma related. But people keep telling me it's post covid.
Now hear this Angela... while your friend was praying deliverence over us I first felt like I could relate to some of the things she mentioned. Anger, revenge, islam. I have been around islam a lot. Been married, slept with and fought. Paid a high price for that.
Now as soon as your friend named spirits sleeping in my bed at night and prayed against that, I started to tear up and felt something letting go of my hands. 🙏
By the time the the video ended, I knew something or somebody has been holding on to me. Has been holding my hands at night. Somebody who had no business holding my hands. Amen.

This is a great episode! I have a question though, why did God cast demons to this earth instead of immediately throwing Satan and demons into hell a long time ago when they rebelled? I would appreciate if someone could answer that question, because I’ve had it for a while!
This is Erin and I appreciate this message. I was delivered from the new age, and came back to Christ...this time I didn't fall in line with a church, but with the Bible first and deliverance was something that God revealed at square one. And I am so happy because I had found my deliverance and I am so free today and my life is changing rapidly! I am so grateful I moved to TN before I even knew I needed to be here. And finally found the church God has had in store to connect with other believers who get it and love Jesus.
Angela thank you so much for your ministry and for being bold with this topic. I went through deliverance at the end of the video. I was shaking and the demons were screaming out of me. Thank you so much to you and Tailah. I also was sold for so long to the lie that christians do not need deliverance and that we cannot have demons. Praise God.
This was a topic from my life the last week or so, where the Lord through people started showing me that I might not be right, however I got super angry at any attempt to be shown this (the very fact that I became hyper angry was a red flag). I was even accused to have a pharisee spirit. I felt pride and anger these days whenever I thought about deliverance and declaring power in Jesus name (I'm also coming out of the New Age and like Angella adopted a view fed by people that these things are not biblical as well as spiritual gifts...). Today I prayed to the Lord to show me and humble me so I can hear if I'm wrong... And here we are, He again did it in a very loving way. Thank you guys! The Lord is faithful to provide the Truth to whomever humbles himself and asks. One red flag you might be actually wrong is pride and anger.
I still have questions though... What is that "slain in the Spirit" thing actually? I hear so many controversial things (being someone coming out of the NA) and don't have a clear understanding. Would love if you guys discuss this. I will pray for you both and the audience, be blessed ❤️🕊️
43:05 In our rationalistic western society many churches have slowly fallen for the deception that the trinity is Father, Son and Holy Scripture. There is the common quip that people love to quote "the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." I would say he has equally convinced the church to ignore the 3rd person of the trinity- the Holy Spirit. I am so glad to see you grow and mature, and am so thankful that you are working to abide deeply in Christ and work in cooperation with the power of the Holy Spirit to walk freely and fruitfully to honor of our King. I myself this past year have been led to serve in the areas of deliverance and formational prayer.
I have so much I’d like to say but I can’t just now….I will say that I was very much like you Angela from New age to new life etc…now deliverance.❤ Thank you Tailah for incredible Holy Spirit driven prayer.
I prayed the closing prayer with you, when I felt impressed to go anoint our dog and cat. The dog has been aggressive with the cats causing them to live in terror. I had the strong sense that it was from the home that the dog came from that some spirit was attached. I went down anointed the dog and began to command any unclean spirit that was causing her to be aggressive to leave in the name of Jesus the dogs eyes took on a fearful look and she began to yawn. After yawning yawning her eyes softened. I brought the cat over prayed over her and anointed her. And then for the first time the two lay down together without any aggression, or fear. Wow! Only the Holy Spirit would have put this into my mind.
Thank you ladies for being brave. I’ve prayed for Spiritual Warfare in Jesus name. Your message is exactly what people need to hear! God Bless

I still don't support the idea of deliverance involving shouting at demons and also speaking in tongues does not involve meaningless babble.
There are so many false teachers out there especially in charismatic churches who just love those ideas and preach subtitle of direct works-based gospels.
You seem more reasonable, but still be aware that people use these topics to cover up false works-based gospels.
Remember that the gospel is simply that Jesus died for our sins was buried and rose from the grave and the moment you believe on Jesus you receive eternal life as a free gift that can't be lost. That easy. Then we deal with sins and demons and even if we don't win now, we are still saved.
Repent means to change your mind not to turn for your sins.
Then lasty, how can unforgiveness be a sin while we are told God does not always forgive?

I found this very useful and insightful, thanks.
I wanted to point out the demons that are oppressing you can influence the way you feel and create a heavy presence in your life. So when you feel the heavy presence leave, after someone prays for you. It doesn't mean the demon was inhabiting you, it means that that presence of heaviness left. The Bible even tells us what fellowship can Christ have with Belial, do you really believe that your house could have the holy Spirit in it and demons would just be hanging out in the house with you? Or would the demons be outside on the street trying to oppress you. It's like we want to forget how powerful the holy spirit is, as if a demon could live inside of you at the same time as the holy Spirit. The Bible says greater is he that is in me than he who is in the world. He didn't say yes he's greater than he who is in the world, but you also have demons inside of you so be careful about that. No, he told us to resist the devil and he will flee from us. The reason why Deliverance works is because you're taking authority over demons that are oppressing you and your casting them away. It's not because you had the demons inside of you. And praying for one another for whatever is bothering us is just simply a biblical commands and a part of Deliverance to. Deliverance isn't some special ministry that we need to separate, we need to constantly be praying for one another and laying hands on one another
I think you are splitting hairs concerning whether or not demons are inside of people or not. Look at it this way, God is omnipresent and greater than any demon (and even Satan himself) yet demons are also present in this world.
If they can influence your thoughts and behaviors, it doesn't matter where they are. Depending on the severity and length of time, even Christians need help with deliverance.

Hi Angela. I just wanted to thank you for sharing your redemption testimony with weed. Weed had always been the sin that I go back to and like you, I tried to justify it as well. Googling, but the Holy Spirit would never let me rest on the conclusion that it was “okay”.
I have been comparing myself to a lot of born again christians believing that they never turned back to any old sins after being saved, and that caused me to feel guilt for doing so, and that guilt would just keep me in that sin, like I believed I wasn’t good enough or able to walk righteously because of my back sliding. I just want to thank you for trusting God and sharing these struggles you had instead of hiding them. I know it’s so hard to share. And you’ve inspired me to stop living in shame and to stop letting the enemy use my sin and mistakes to keep me in that place. I was so on fire for God when I was first saved.. and I want to be on fire once again!!

I have to say that I'm SO GRATEFUL for the work you have been doing and allowing God to use you as a tool to reach others and have them experience healing, to come to know Jesus, and to grow in their faith. The deliverance prayer that Tailah did at the end was POWERFUL. I was listening to your podcast near the end of the work day and when it came time for the prayer, I had to pause it and wait until I got home because I wasn't sure how I was going to react or if anything would manifest. From my experience with deliverance in the past, I would say they were gentle (I simply felt lighter afterwards). I thought something similar would happen this time. After renouncing a long list of things I felt I might have missed before and Tailah commanding specific demons or spirits to go in Jesus' name, I first felt a weird movement or stirring in my abdomen (almost like a spirit felt uncomfortable and wanted to wiggle out). And then I felt pressure on my throat, which got my gag reflex going. It led to a few minutes of me gagging and coughing up demon after demon. And I feel so free. Praise God!! ❤

I’m in Nashville!! so many incredible people live here. It’s good to know I have a sister in Christ in the area. 🏙️🌇🌃. The Holy Spirit had to convict me to quit smoking pot as well because I justified pot for a decade as medicinal but in reality, I was seeking that instead of Christ. I was seeking an easier way out of pain. But our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit. Inhaling smoke does not glorify God. Now if I could only quit smoking these dang cigarettes. Please pray for me. lol

Hearing about how being paranoid and having anxiety while smoking is actually demonic spiritual presence was a major revelation!! Paranoia and anxiety was so common for me back when before the lord saved me and took away my temptation to smoke. Wild how ignorant we are when we live in sin, to what is actually happening in the spirit!

Pray for Doreen. She went from preaching one set of heresies to a new set of heresies. She needs deliverance: pray for her.
Doreen is incorrect. The word states in Luke 10:19 - Behold I give you power to tread on Serpent and scorpions and over all the power the enemy has and nothing shall by any means harm you. Doreen needs to study the word on this. She is misleading people.

There is a scripture that says, you can tell who they are by their fruit! Likewise you can discern if something is of God, by its fruit! The flower precedes the fruit, but the fruit means long term! So many believers who have been bound up their whole lives, are getting freer and freer and free indeed, by the power of his sacrificed blood! That can only be from him!

I found your video because of Doreen Virtue. She does not know what she is talking about (saying there should not be deliverance ministry). The Bible (NT) clearly commissions Christ's followers to drive spirits out from people. Jesus went around healing people... AND driving spirits out from them. Not saying I agree with all deliverance ministry or ministers, but clearly there needs to be something - exorcism and/or deliverance, whatever word you want to use. Of course the details of what it entails might matter.

Do you have a church you attend regularly? If not, ask your local churches if they offer deliverance ministry? Plz know, most churches do not do this!!! It is sad. We are the body of Christ on the earth and most churches do not follow the gospel. If you cannot find a local ministry, could you meet with Tailah? You could even possibly do the deliverance over the phone. Bless you! (What state do you live in?)

What do you think about churches where people go up on stage to say a word that they got from the Lord to either specific people or the whole congregation?
Do you think that sometimes the enemy can come into the same space and in the same message where the Holy Spirit is?
I know I’ve experienced some time ago people very eager to say a word that they say comes from the Holy Spirit. It seemed like it was an ego show of people who wanted to be seen as being closer to the Lord than others. And, I’ve experienced the Holy Spirit in the church I attend now where the majority of the people are very humble and it feels very powerful and real. So far I feel like I can tell it’s really the Holy Spirit when I’m led to see and think of beautiful things like the wonderful gift of children and life that God gave us etc. I will cry because of the beauty of what I’m seeing in ways that I definitely don’t do by myself. This feels definitely like God who gives me life is leading me to see in the moment. So far this is how I identify if it’s really the Holy Spirit. Although I know the real presence of God may not cause us to feel anything.
