Best altaplex review. Literally only thing you didn't cover was need or not for groundsheet. They say no. But would love to hear your opinion

Thanks! I never used a groundsheet with either of them and had no problems on the AT, hiking Ireland or doing the Colorado Trail.
If you're doing the PCT or somewhere where you can cowboy camp it would be worth bring tyvek or polycro groundsheet but even then it wouldn't be needed when pitching the tent IMO.

Thanks for the video, it’s a choice I will be making shortly and your comments are most helpful. Cheers

Cheers man, they're both great tents. Where you off to?

@@PatrickNoonan I am doing some UK National trails, Cotswold Way in June, bit of the SWCP in July and Ridgeway in August. These will be in my current Six Moon Lunar Solo, but looking to change to DCF for next year.

Hey! Thanks for the review. You mentioned there is a lighter tent then the Altaplex (I am 6 foot and dont want to feel Im in a coffin, also would like room for my backpack inside the tent), what tent is that?

Plex Solo is there lightest tent. Since you're 6ft if I were you I'd go with the Duplex, extra space and doors are def worth the space. Just my opinion :)

About 200 miles on my altaplex. Love it! Being ~6’3” I wish it was 3 inches longer but it works fine as is. Like the bonus that since it only uses one pole I have redundancy in case one breaks on trail. I like the cnoc poles since I can get them to 60” which is nice in some cases. I also use one at 62” with my smokey hut hot tent tipi.

Nice, the CNOC poles look good but are pretty pricey. I went with Leki Khumbu poles, still expensive but not as expensive :)

@@PatrickNoonan agree they certainly aren’t cheap. For me and where I camp though and I need at least a 60” pole for the altaplex. I lose an inch or more just from the tip going into the soft soil and I find anything less than 59” peak height on flat ground starts to compromise room a bit for a bigger guy like me.
