He’s back! Found you in September while I was scrolling youtube with your “day in the life” series then got really inspired by the 31 pieces in 31 days and… life also got in the way lol. Even as a composition student in college I also feel like I have about a day a week to actually compose. But in terms of good news to remind myself I don’t totally suck, I finished a solo cello piece I’ll hopefully get a recording for soon to post, and Ive started planning out how to document my own composer days in the life. Excited to see any content you post whether in this year or the next. Hope the commission goes well!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm pumped you found value in the 31 pieces in 31 days series, and I'm excited to see you post some things that I can check out soon! (I jumped over and subscribed to your channel!) I've got an idea for what I think could be a relatively easy video to put together in the next few weeks, so fingers crossed I'll post again soon! Thanks again for watching. I'm glad you've been liking my videos :)
Thanks :) I played a gig last night and got a little bit of footage from it, maybe I'll try to turn it into another little video. Also, I'm excited to get your record in the mail!
Back when I was a band director (full-time) I hardly ever composed unless it was for my school. Now I'm just teaching adjunct, so theoretically, I should have more time, and I do, but not as much as I would have hoped. Of course, just this morning, on a composing/plan for teaching day at home, I managed to waste an hour watching UA-cam videos instead of getting to work. haha. So I'm sure I actually have plenty of time to compose more, I just need to be better with time management. :) Thanks for watching! If you find anything that really works for you in the area of teaching/composing balance, please share it. I'll do the same if I find a solution!
You were, by far, one my of my favorite teachers to spend time with in school! Go Berryville Bobcats! You’re name is a permanent installation in many of our hearts. Also have you kept up the novel writing?
Aww. Thanks for that. That made my day! I miss all of my berryville students. I bump into one of you every once in a while and it always puts a smile on my face. And yeah, I actually finished my first novel back in 2021! (And a handful of short stories along the way too) The novel isn't at all related to the stories I was working on back when you were in my class, though I still have those drafts and one day I might return to them. (wasn't there a line I wanted to use in a book that went something like "his eye had the gleam of demonic intent" that you had something to do with?) The one I finished was just a random story that I made up as I went back in November of 2021 for Nanowrimo. One day I hope to release it, but I keep putting off doing the second round of edits in order to do that.
Well done for posting and writing!

This is cool! I feel the same, often life gets in the way and you simply don’t have time to be creative!
Life happens! 100% I just haven’t had the time either. Totally get it. But still good to see you again!

I've been struggling with the teaching/composing balance, it's always a work in progress. Keep it up! We're all doing our best.
