      Hi, i have a question
      I ordered Vroptician lenses 2 years ago with a old prescription and haven't use the headset for a while and i want to play it again.
      But I just got my new prescription and the value from my last one jumped from
      R : -2.50 (+2.25) 90°
      L : -4.25 (+3.50) 85°
      (2019)
      to
      R : -0.50 (-2.50) 180°
      L : -0.25 (-3.50) 180°
      (2023)
      Is that a massive jump ? Would the difference be super obvious ?
      I'm asking this because I know absolutely nothing about the whole value thing and i wanna be sure I'm not wasting money on ordering new lens for barely any change.

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I had been looking for good solutions to wearing glasses within VR for a while (I'm both near sighted with astigmatism) and playing VR without my glasses just didn't work for me. I'm so glad you pointed out VR prescription lenses, it really has made such a world of difference in terms of comfort in VR.

    I recently started wearing glasses full time for my astigmatism. I'd been dealing with it for a few years without correction, so having it now is a great relief, even with my mild case.
    The glasses gave me such relief that I decided to get inserts for my Quest 2 as well, and I can see VR much better.

    Great explanation Doc. My Dad always makes out his Quest 2 is very crisp, whereas i've never been able to get that, it's nearly always a soft focus and I have to have the headset held in a very specific position for it to be useable at all. I have a -0.75 astigmatism in my left eye, but I always use corrective contact lenses when on the quest (and basically any every day life thing), I believe my issue is more the IPD, which i'm slightly wider than the highest setting (if I remember right i'm about 72mm when measuring on apps).

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 роки тому

      That would make sense if you aren't able to look through the sweet spot of the VR lenses. Also... VR lenses, especially the quest 2 has it's limitations on how clear it can be. There are so many variables to it. Thanks for the comment... you are definitely not alone with your IPD being wider than the VR lenses can adjust for.

    I have keratoconus and very irregular astigmatism, especially in my left eye (-4.00 D). Your example of what astigmatism looks like is actually great, one of the best I’ve seen. It’s often hard to explain to others what it’s like.
    I just got a PSVR2, and with fresnel lenses the effect is magnified. In real life, my right eye has less astigmatism and so I use it automatically to make up for my left eye’s astigmatism. In my VR set, this doesn’t work well in many areas of the screen as things get less clear away from the centre of the lenses. So if I’m looking at an object that requires my right eye to be looking off centre, it can no longer make up for my left eye’s issues.
    Anyway, love your channel. Just ordered some VR Optician lens inserts based on your reviews and excited to use them, as in VR my eye glasses make an even bigger difference than in real life.

    -4/5 left/right eye on shortsight and -2.5 on astigmatism, Lenses are manditory for me. So glad they are available for VR. I'm just praying they don't go the same way as Drone FPV goggles. Used to have slots for lenses, now they just allow you to adjust the lens position for short sight correction but no ability for correct for astigmatism which is a huge nightmare...

    This video makes me very hopeful. I've always dealt with a double image/blurry or feeling like is was looking through a mirage when in VR. I never once thought it could be because of my (-2.25) astigmatism, but now it makes total sense! I get annual eye exams, but I've never filled my prescription even though I should since I basically, "use the force" when I read text. But I thought since the screens were in front of your eyes (in VR), why would you need glasses? Boy, looks like I was very wrong. I ordered a pair of lens via VR Optician (with your code, thank you!) and they should be here next week...maybe? I'll update this comment with how they work for me. Fingers crossed!!!

      You actually don't want to use your reading glasses in VR. VR, meta quest 2 for example, sets their focal point out more in the distance, about 4 feet out/1.2 meters. If you have a prescription for that far out, that would be perfect. Most people find their distance prescription works better than their close up prescription.

  • @High-Tech-Geek
    @High-Tech-Geek 2 роки тому +1

    I'm farsighted with a slight astigmatism but unexpectedly (and happily) I find that I can use VR without any corrective lenses... except: I have to look at the center of the VR lenses for the best clarity. It's very clear for me looking straight into the center, but moving only my eyes to look in another direction, the "display" is blurry. So I have to move my head rather than my eyes to read text, for example... it's not a deal breaker, but not the ideal. Do you know why this might be? (I have a Quest 2 and had a Samsung GearVR in the past).
    I just realized I have a similar issue with my laptop and glasses, but the focused area is much larger. I can read text across the laptop screen without moving my head and only at the edges of the screen does the text get a little blurry. I assume this is due to the prescription being centered on the lenses, but doesn't explain the lenses in the VR headset... thoughts?

    Does astigmatism gets worse, or it can occur from computer or phone?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 роки тому +2

      It can get worse, but generally it does stabilize. So far, no direct link to worsening astigmatism from computer or phone use.

    My eye report says under astigmatism '175 degrees'? How does this translate to diopters?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 роки тому +1

      That could be the "axis" of your astigmatism. Or it could mean you have 1.75 diopters of astigmatism. Do you see a number before that labeled "cylinder"?

    • @bakakafka4428
      @bakakafka4428 2 роки тому +1

      @@DrEyeGuy Yes, it says -0.25. I do have -2 diopter Sphere on that eye as well, and the 175 has a degree symbol after it, not any other unit. Thank you very much for replying, btw!

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 роки тому +1

      @@bakakafka4428 that's good.. that means you have a mild amount of -0.25 diopter of astigmatism. The -2.00 sphere is how nearsighted you are.

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  2 роки тому

      Hi! So your astigmatism is 5 diopters total. The plus and minus can change depending on how the prescription is written. With that amount, it can be tricky to find some soft lenses that would be stable enough to give you adequate vision. There are custom lenses that can go that high. Or switching to A hard lens or scleral lenses may work better.

    Don't remember my grade. But I got different astigmatism in each eye. Different diopter and different angles, almost 90 degrees out of sync.
    It's like a cross, the right eye smears to the top right and left eye smears to the top left.
    Meaning I get like 4 copies of everything lol. Up close it does not do much but far away text I need my glasses for
