You guys are awesome! Not many can say they have sailed to Catalina on a tiny sailboat! I'm sorry to hear you sold her though. A great little sea worthy dingy! I hope you get another boat and never quit sailing! Cheers!
I sailed a laser from king harbor to emerald bay back in 79 , I was young and stupid but I got there fast., half way over I realized that I didn't even bring a bottle of water let alone a rack of banquets.
Best soundtrack ever! I've got the same boat, an '84 Holder. I would love to sail it to Catalina; but being in NY, I'd say it would take me a while. Great job!
I encourage dinghy sailing/cruising in small boats and do many trips a year. Instead of being a buzz kill saying what I would/do do differently for safety/comfort, I'd ask you. If you did this more, what would you do differently?
Impressive! I aspire to do something like this one day! I’ve heard local legends of a guy who made the crossing in a jet ski once. I can’t tell if that’s bravery or stupidity at that point
Looks like a blast, I’d give you a thumbs up for the adventure but drinking while boating is not the smartest thing to do even if one is the dedicated skipper, if something happens to him people that have been drinking are now taking charge and are responsible. Don’t mean to be a buzzkill but I’ve see the effects. Keep up the adventures but play safe and when you anchor then party.
I appreciate the concern-you'll see only 3 empty cans in the video because in the 8 hour passage, we had only one beer each. The rest were saved for the landing celebration. That's when we set Jake loose on them :P
Davies launch ramp in Seal/Long Beach. Huntington won't let you leave the harbor without a motor. We got stopped by a Navy dinghy with a machine gun once.

This is how much I know . I didn't even think a boat under 25 ft could sail to Catalina. Great video
There are people sailing boats under 25ft to Hawaii lol
Radical

Absolute mad lads. Excellent video
We take my buddies Catalina 18' to the island every year for the club stag cruise.... Props for doing it on a tiny boat!

The advantage of sailing such a small boat to Catalina is that you don’t need a dinghy to get ashore 👍
Awesome guys. Wish I could get a group of dinghy sailers together to sail Dry Tortuga's in Florida. I'm going to do it eventually on my 16footer.
You guys saved $75 good job!!!

ua-cam.com/video/EhG6tJQmSdc/v-deo.html a bigger boat and a bigger adventure :)
Cool fun music also last few seconds of video is really funny

Thanks! I think a jet ski would be pretty easy on a calm day. At 30 kts, the whole passage would take less than an hour
People go on jetskis all the time

dont worry, all 18 of them were for me

Considering doing the same! Was it worth it? Would you do it again? And where did you stay... beach camping?
Lmao respect..
Where did y'all launch from?

@@michaeljustin6030 Were you guys trying to just leave without a motor? What did the Navy wanted?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪
Did you stay over night? Long trip for one day
Two nights on the island and then we sailed back. We made the passage in one day (about 8 hours of sailing).
