@@mariogomez8146 $50 seems a lot more reasonable. Even the super budget kitchen table 60 card decks I make tend to run around $50.
I have to say, that cut at 0:34 where you catch the falling card pack is absurdly slick and I love it! No matter how many takes this took, it was totally worth it.

This set is such a nostalgia hit. Seeing cards like Spiritmonger and Call of the Herd at uncommon is mind blowing. I’m really excited for it. Going through the spoilers, I felt like a kid again, and that rules.

higher ups are too busy screwing up D&D, so either someone snuck this out when nobody was looking, or this is the "apology" for messing everything else up. Win either way.

I agree, except about availability. Personally, I want a reprint of the whole reserve list, but that won’t happen for a reason. Not everyone would have liked an unlimited run of DR since it’d lower the price of FOW, etc. by too much, i.e. “old” collectors and stores would have disliked it.
Also they should have cut the price in half

Such a small gripe, but I miss having different art on the packs. I used to choose individual packs based on which art felt "lucky".
Prof, you forgot to mention the biggest benefit of this set, which is clearly and truly the REAL set to celebrate Magic 30: The value and size of this set is an absolute gift and financial shot in the arm for Local Game Stores, who are mostly doing $30 drafts, which guarantees them at least $250 in profit on each box. This is a set that makes them money because they can serve more players with a very hot set at a lower than expected entry point.
This is a win for Wizards, LGSs and the player base. For the first time in years...everybody wins, and yet this simple fact is being lost among the various bad deeds of WOTC/Hasbro.
For context: The last time WOTC, LGSs and Players all won was with Mystery Booster.
I’ve been thinking of going back into MtG. haven’t played since around 1998. This set got me so excited I preordered a draft booster box! Can’t wait to surprise my friends i used to play Revised thru Visions in the 90s with some rounds of a new draft game!
You will find that much has changed, this isn't even close to the same game it was in 98. Best of luck to you.

Maybe the reason Hasbro is making such monumentally bad decisions with WotC is because Hasbro and WotC are incompatible businesses. Hasbro is a toy company whereas WotC is moreso a hobby company. Hasbro is used to mass-producing Monopoly and Nerf guns for moms in a Walmart, not curating delicate ecosystems of card sets and rulebooks for niche players in LGSs.
Wow! So very unbelievably well put! We've all been upset with so many of their moves since they bought wizards, but I've never heard anybody say it so succinctly! It seems obvious now that you've put it that way! It would be great if wizards could break away and be their own outfit again.
A silver lining tho, between the 40k decks and dom remastered, its seems theyre starting to figure it out.

No way can I trust so much of my free time to the products of such an ignorant company.
I feel bad for he artist and good people they employ, but it’s been too much.
The weird thing is, Hasbro has owned WotC for two decades now, and this level of greed has only really cropped up in the past five years. I have no idea what changed.

Dominatia Remastered Booster box game going to be lit
After months of the professor being disappointed, I for one am very glad that there’s finally a set that got him fired up and happy. Skipping this set because there not enough for formats I play, but I am so glad to see something that’s more like a gift to the community than we’ve had in a while.
I’m excited to run a launch event for this set. It’s really nice to be able to offer value at a price that’s good for us as well. Everybody wins! 😁
This is such a good set, it's almost mind-boggling that modern day WoTC made it.
Just cracked my first box and this set is an absolute home run. I haven't felt this good about buying magic since the first modern masters.
Me and my commander POD of three buddies are going to have so much fun drafting this in a few weekends. We have to wait until we are all able to gather at my our friend Johnny's place and each guy throws in on a draft box. We draft cards the way all drafts go and then make decks as per the usual. The foils, mythics and rares go into a pile at the end of the draft (commons and uncommons that are drafted are kept) The big winner of the draft picks first from the goodies out of the box, whether they want a foil mythic or a planeswalker or any other card out of the pile of goodies we cracked open. The person that took second in the draft picks one card next from the goodies and so on. It is a fun and great way to crack a box of cards with friends.
I am going to be drafting this evening at my LGS (wish me luck Prof).
This video will definitely sway my mind towards buying a whole box for myself. (i’m hoping to open a nice bomb rare/tutor).
I found this channel only two months ago. Yet, I've found INCREDIBLE help hearing a review of cards and products from the Professor. It has definitely helped my buying decisions, and it's, for lack of a better word, "refreshing" to hear an honest (and professional) opinion, based on the positive, or lack there of, direction Magic has been going. Darksteel is the last time I can remember ever buying a booster. Because of this review, I'm convinced to buy a box. And after the reviews, it's great to see "Shuffle Up & Play," reminding me why I originally got into Magic for one INITIAL reason: it's fun. Thank you for what you're doing Professor. (And forgive me for any grammar mistakes. 😅)
I picked up a few packs of this today and I was immediately hooked. Can't wait to draft it with my friends, looks fun as hell. I mean, I also pulled a vampiric tutor in my first pack so that might have swayed me a little...
I feel awful for my FLGS dropping the price to $180 as part of a "customer appreciation" effort for everything done in 2022. With no MSRP and flooded products, they couldn't keep the price from crashing and had to come up with an excuse. As a customer, I'm happy. But, I still don't like Hasbro.
Hasbro are making us hasbroke with the current pricing of most sets
Be happy. My LGS has a 245 € price tag on the boxes (which equals ~$250), and it's mostly due to the high distributor price. Not out of reach for me, but I will pass on this one.

My LGS is doing over 270 USD a box. I wish I could support them more but, I refuse to pay 100$ markups. Luckily, the ship sells reasonably prices singles and boardgames.

Wanted to save up to buy multiple collector's booster boxes of this product. Then Wizards and Hasbro botched the Magic 30 so bad I never want to buy collector's booster boxes ever again.
With everything WOTC/Hasbro is doing behind the scenes...... I'm conflicted with my feelings about this set.
Yes they made a good product but does that make up for the pile of bad products/ decisions that litter the roadside on the way to get here.
If you live based on grudges, eventually the "math" will not add up, don't buy bad products, buy good products. It's not much but the bad sales of the 30 anniversary proves that every little help.

This is the first set I've gotten my group of friends to go in on a box to draft! I've gotten a group of friends into Magic over the last 5 or so years. We mostly play commander around the power level of recent precons. We also have been doing our own prereleases as a way of opening new cards during a game night that we can use to customize our commander decks. Dominaria Remastered is the first time that the set has been affordable, the reprints exciting, and the play experience spoken of highly enough that we split the price of a box. It will be the first time most of us have played draft at all and I'm very excited for it.
I've been playing for most of the past 30 years, and my commander decks often have cards that I have some connection to through draft, prerelease, or standard play. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of seeing cards in our commander group that we all have memories of from our prerelease events. With so many sets though, prereleases have gotten a little stale. It's nice to have an exciting remastered set to specifically draft that could get some powerful cards into my friends' hands in a way that they will have a personal connection to going forward.
I just finished a a draft of this, and can confirm it's lovely. I recognized I liked the draft enviroment because it's not that far from the basics I look when I build or modify my cube.
I was sold before I started watching, damn my collecting habit, but I appreciate your insight and effort. These are good videos to show to my friends who are circling the event horizon of playing and collecting though
Just got back into mtg last week after a hiatus since 2016 with no idea this set was coming out - and I needed somewhere to say how much I am loving this set; especially as I pulled a force of will yesterday!
I have a very small (read non-existent) collection of cards and this set is fantastic for getting a hold of classic cards. As someone who is essentially still very new to the hobby, this set makes me feel like I can own a bit of the nostalgia and shared history of this most beloved and accursed game. There's something about pulling your first counterspell that makes you feel connected to the community. I don't just own a strange new card that may end up forgotten, I own *counterspell*

we drafted this tonight. quite a fun and nostalgic set. the set came out today and they expect to be out of stock by the end of the weekend. here's a suggestion, wizards - how about printing enough of each product for everybody instead of just doing limited print runs of triple the number of products. i would like a box of this but by the time i can afford it, it will be long gone.
These aren't limited print run. Draft boxes at least. Still unsure of the collectors boxes.

Felt like it was worth mentioning, this set is selling for around $8 usd per draft packs in retail stores like walmart and target, and $35 for collector packs. Go with your LGS, always.
I know this isn't magic related, but considering it is under the same parent company, I think it would be good to discuss what is going on in the Dungeons and Dragons space on your channel. I love both magic and D&D, but the directions of both brands have been trending to getting as much profit over the health of the game, and it has caused a large group to become mistrustful of the parent company. Just came home from a release draft. Payed a reasonable price for the draft, won out and opened 3 prize packs. Got a Retro Frame Urza, so I made money back from the whole draft. Great experience, the draft format is fun, great fun cards!
I haven't played in 20 years, but watching your videos really helped get me hooked like I was a teenager again. Thanks Prof, you're the best.
a buddy of mine got a draft box and 3 collector packs yesterday, got 3 Force of Wills from the box, 2 retro frame and one modern, 1 of the retros were foil and a modern foil from a collector pack. we were all freaking out about it. id say this is ABSOLUTELY worth buying for resale and personal use value

Played a draft of it last weekend and had a blast! $20 provided great prize support and even though I didn't make my money back, I'm hoping to get at least 2-3 more drafts in this weekend.

That surprised me too. I started using it as a cheap alternative to rhystic study, then it rose at a certain point because others started using it too. I don't know why it dropped, but hey, not complaining....

I've been getting some of the most incredible pulls ever in this set, one force of will on my first pull it's surely quite the amazing first impresion, also, entomb, sylvan library, urza's incubator, vampiric tutor, on just a few boosters i've bought. I usually do not buy boxes, ever, but... i think i might with this one

Approximately $5 a pack in the US but they're selling for the equivalent of $10 here which is a hell of a lot of money in South Africa.
Thanks Prof. I was on the fence about this, but this is the first time in years I am considering checking out my LGS for a draft and buying a box as well.
People complain about market being flooded with reprints and values going down.
That said, this is the first set in years that I would buy packs of vs. only select singles.
Seems more of a players set, and I’m 💯 okay with that.
I bought a box which I opened earlier today, only started playing again in August last year so wanted to catch up on old cards I used to have back in the urza’s set (so many memories) I thought that I didn’t do that well tbh in my opening but turns out it was better than expected… I got the following:
Mystical tutor (borderless)
Sneak attack
Worldly tutor
Entomb
Dark depths
Foil oversold cemetery
Crawlspace
2 lotus blossoms (one normal one retro)
2 retro spirit guides which I didn’t even know were valuable and some cool looking borderless commons and uncommons…
Overall the video was highly informative and I learnt that I made my money back in value possibly more, it’s a fantastic set and if I’m able I’ll be buying another one to really try and get some more crazy stuff 😂
Just watching this after getting back from my LGS's weekly draft. This was indeed a great set to play in draft! Had a fun time going Boros auras and punching face to 2-1 for the night :D

The draft environment for this set is phenomenal. I watched a guy make Marit Lage "the old fashioned way" followed by watching it get Lulled for 3 turns in a row. That's just good, clean magic right there!

I won our LGS draft for this set and walked away with 22 packs. I entered the rares and value uncommons into TcG Player and got a total value of $270. I wanted to see the price difference once the set dropped. Today, that value plummeted to $120. Just a little data point to help you decide to buy singles or not.
Draft experience was incredible.

I opened 2 collector booster boxes with my wife and its the most fun I have had cracking packs since MH2.
Wife bought me a box for my bday, Amazon packed it in a bubble bag and wrecked the box! lucky they have a nice amount of wiggle room in box no packs were damaged! Cant wait to start crackin packs!

I think everyone in my draft pod opened a card or two that paid for their draft. I opened a Vamp and Worldly tutor, the guy next to me opened a Force of Will, another guy opened a Yawgmoth, etc.
And my LGS offered us a discount on a box if you drafted. So like, it was definitely worth it.
I did a Preview Draft of this at my LGS and got a Retro-framed Birds of Paradise, a Full art Birds of paradise and a foil Arboria. I walked away pretty happy.
Man, I love your videos. Always so fun and informative. This seems like a set everyone can enjoy! Makes me want to buy a box and open it with my daughter. Recently I got her into the game a bit, we play modern and are having lots of fun

Did my draft today, got a broderless Force of Will and was a super fun dimir deck, thr slow games were great
When this set was originally announced (in name only), and seeing the trend of WOTC, I was less than excited. I actually figured that after jumpstart 2022, I wouldn't be buying a box of anything until at least the spring. But then the last video hit, and I started seeing the possibilities with this set. The card list. The chase cards. The price. 36 packs! I now have 2 boxes in transit, and couldn't possibly be more excited for them to arrive.
My brother is leaving for his army tour and I wanted to do something before he leaves for 9 months. So I got 2 Collector's to crack open next to some grub.
We had some pretty sick pulls.
My lgs is running their RCQ as Dominaria Remastered sealed with top 8 draft tomorrow!
The comparison via cards that were worth more than the pack at release is actually a really cool way to determine financial worth. Really cool

I'm new to MTG and got a Draft Booster of this the other day. Ended up with a foil Time Stretch and a retro style Sneak Attack
I find myself watching your videos more and more often. I like the overview you provide. I also think you are wrong sometimes, but its almost always from a very different perspective than “gamer and this is a game” perspective, but rather a financial one, which is not at all what I come here for.
I bought a box and my brother-in-law did as well. Going to be really hard to resist cracking those packs, but definitely going to get a couple of drafts in first!
On a side note...do you have a list for your Time Spiral Remastered cube???
