Actually, it is more of what God can’t allow himself to do and it is also the answer for the question of why does God let bad things happen. Many would readily and vehemently disagree, but God does not have an actual plan for the world. What he does have is hope for the world through his endowment of free will. God does not know the future, but he does know the infinite number of possibilities required for his gamble on ‘free will’ to succeed. Interfering with that would alter the delicate balance of the human condition equivalent of the ‘Goldilocks Effect’.
Suppose the creation of the Universe is due to a fundamental singularity (t1) that occurs in the future (t0). These two singularities will then be one and the same thing. That is why the Universe, since that moment (t1) tends towards the singularity (t0), inexorably.

As a math professor, if God is Love would it be correct to say Love is God? I like to feel that I feel God's presence when I feel Love and when I share Love I share God. Is that okay?
Gary, the letters of John near the end of the Bible speak about this. This is where you find that "God is love" statement. I would read them in full. He writes about whoever loves having known God and those not doing so not knowing Him. You could conclude that whenever you act in love, you are working with God, and sharing something of Him. However, the word is used very loosely today, and it's easy to kid ourselves that we are doing something in love, when it might be something else- ego, or whatever, so good to make sure God remains in the centre. Mathematically, I would want to explore what it is saying, and not try to make language work as if it is maths. After all, 16 is a square number, but a square number is not necessarily 16. Can we switch the God is love statement around like that? I'm not sure it works like that. The Bible makes clear that God is a person, not a principle or a force, so my guess would be that love is his overriding characteristic, that he is its source, and that he is the perfect example of it. I hope that helps 🙂
The word that describes the love of God used most often in scripture is agape. Agape is a type of sacrificial love, or in other words action. This type of love can be given to even people you do not like, it is a choice.
@@therealtech833 God is not just love, he hates too. And the agape thing is a joke, search the scriptures and you'll find out that agape is used in many instances where is clearly does not mean what you are saying it means.

Pretty big mistake John made there around minute 38 with claiming the bible doesn't say anything about the age of the earth, and that there might be billions of years between genesis 1:1 and the rest of the creation. Exodus 20:11 clearly states that the 6 days of creation included the creation of heavens and the earth, end of story, the eath is youngh, anyone teaching otherwise is ignorant of the scriptures.
The Brothers Grimm also wrote a great book about fairy tales. The best thing about being smarter than your audience is, that you can fool them very easily. KJV EXO 20:11 clearly does not say in 6 days the Lord CREATED heaven and earth....but it does say, For in Six days the Lord MADE heaven and Earth... Hes drawing attention to what is Created in Gen 1:1 and clearly says that earth is without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. As John 1:1 KJV clearly states ( which J.C.L uses as explanation) is the pre existence of God before the given 6 day genesis account which begins at the command of his word And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness. Confirmation in John 1:1 onward ie In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.The same was at the beginning with God.All things were MADE by him and without him was not anything made that was made. and EXO 20:11. For in six days God made heaven and earth.. Just taken in logical sequence John would be ignorant if he was saying heaven and earth were made in the beginning and then God said let there be light, divides light from darkness, calls light day and darkness night, evening, morning first day, and then proceed again to create heaven second day and earth the third day. all over again. His distinction was in the significance of God having created that which was not yet seen. And God said, Let there be light..and there was light.....and God saw the light. That it was good. The same was with God in the beginning. All things were made by him and without him was not made that which was made. The subtle but distinct assertion of GODS sovereign authority as our Creator.
My comment is in defence of what God clearly does say. Earths age is as of much significance to me as it is to God, and he says only that it is older than man.And that's only the BEGINNING of the story, not the end.
The Bible says...God separated the waters from the water....did he take the Hydrogen and create the Sun. And the remaining Oxygen and createvthe atmospher
In the Q&A section, Lennox puts significant blame on the lukewarm individual Christianity that scoffers use to represent the Body. I disagree with Lennox. I think that this is the EXCUSE, and an almost IMPENETRABLE EXCUSE, almost impossible to expose, that scoffers use to justify their unbelief and put their consciences to rest and harden themselves in unbelief. It is impenetrable because it is a true accusation but it is false because yhat is not the reason they do not believe. The nation prides itself on skepticism, individualism, and free choice. The soffers and skeptics question everything - everything they disagree with and too little of what conveniently fits in their pocket. If the Bible did not undeniably teach the eternal consequence of immorality and rebellion against God, there would hardly be a person who didn't laud it. Jesus exposes the world as sinful. Rebels against God use false science and hypocritical moral judgment to hide their unbelief behind. But by the Bible, they are exposed.
Believers who know the word of God aught to know " we wrestle not against flesh and blood" Ephesians 6. And that is for John as well. We as believers are to preach the gospel to the lost, not with intellectual display of our flesh. Fine sounding speeches saves no one. Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again. 1 Corinthians 15:3,4. I have not yet heard John Lennox preach this gospel Christ gave to Paul.
@@dsbiddle Your "god' has NO evidence of existence. The jesus story is ONLY a story, there is NO contemporary evidence from his supposed time that he ever existed. The "gospel" writers were anonymous. Why? They set the story 45 years previous to their time. Why? Because they neither wanted to be questioned or investigated, and they didn't want people from jesus' supposed time to contradict them as to what they said happened. They figured in 45 years all witnesses would be dead. Lifespan back then averaged 48 years. ALL the 30+ Greek and Roman scholars studying hebrew cults in Jerusalem around 25-35 CE NEVER even mentioned jesus' name! Josephus jesus passage was forged two centuries later. If you’re a truly honest and good student of the Bible, you know that the author’s of the Bible said that if you can do miracles, like those described in the Bible for example, your understanding of the Bible is certifiably true and if others can do miracles also, then their understanding and yours will be exactly the same no matter how your culture and languages may differ! If you can’t do such miracles, it serves as proof positive that you don’t know what you’re talking about and that at the very least people would be wise to ignore you. So, if someone tells you that God says such and such, ask them to certify it by doing a legitimate miracle while you watch. Don’t think it’s true because it seems to say so in their book. Books, just like proponents who claim their divine origin, can lie or be mistaken too!
The Deceit of Religious Belief The only people who listen to this nonsense have no standards to exclude nonsense. And we are still dealing with this "think not I come with peace" nonsense. The religious are ludicrous, avoided like the old women with too many cats. Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy. Nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital. Who sends their children to prophet trade-school? If there were a god, then would there be any demand for scripture interpretations by various podium-jockeys using fantasyland vocabulary? These are the religious, the wolves in sheep's clothing. Even Jesus says faith is worthless or you could order mountains to move about. The scam works with faith & prayers, suggesting we all should travel with one foot in their fantasyland. Theologians acquire grand titles without certification from a deity, & project certainty using fantasyland vocabulary in an academic setting to compensate for lack of reason. We really should address the social acceptance of large numbers of people speaking a fantasyland vocabulary & openly indulging in the deceit of religious belief as a tool of fascism. It was secular law & order ending the inquisitions & witch-killings. The Christians slapped their books on the Old Testament, & the Mormons glued theirs on to them both, thus proving Christians lack quality-control. As if God does not have a perfect record of doing nothing, as if we had no reason for the saying: God helps those helping themselves.
Unfortunately, as right as he is about there being a God, Lennox denies the very Book of Genesis which he cites as foundational to our understanding of the origin of the world. He denies that the world was, according to scripture, created only thousands of years ago, and all of the amazing discoveries in science which supports that fact in astronomy, cosmogony, genetics, human population increases over time, recorded human history, and biology. It saddens me to see such intellectuals acknowledge the world was created by God but then turns around and denies Special Creation and accepts uniformitarianism. Dr. Lennox believes God used evolution to bring us into being and that the universe and the earth are billions of years old. I pray that his eyes become opened. How many days did Joshua march around the city of Jericho? How do we know how long a day was then? Isn't it because of context? The context in the Genesis creation narrative likewise tells us the days of creation were 24 hour days. The word yom is used 410 times in relation to a number. Every time it means an ordinary day. "evening and morning" are used 38 times in the Old Testament and each time it means an ordinary day. "evening and morning" are used 23 times without the word yom and each time it means an ordinary day. "night" is used 52 times without yom and each time it means an ordinary day. Because of the context of the creation days, "evening and morning", if these days represented vast periods of time, the either God is a untrustworthy idiot because he has conveyed something untrue, or he is a liar because he has conveyed that the length of the days is equal to the coming and going of the sun, while they were in fact vast periods of time. If the days of creation in Genesis 1 represent thousands to millions of years, and Adam and Ever were created during day 6, then one would have to believe they were thousands to millions of years old by day 7 unless youbelieve God created them at the last moment before sunrise on day 6. Moreover, since the passages describe the coming and going of the sun, one would have to believe the earth orbited the sun at a rate exponentially slower during the days of creation than immediately after. If you don't hold to that idea, then you have to explain why the days of creation represent vast ages of time and an exponentially slower moving earth than for day 7 and all days afterward. In the context, the word day in Genesis 1 refers to six 24-hour days. Every time it appears with “evening and morning” or with a number like “sixth day,” which is over 200 times, it refers to a 24-hour day. If the days represent cast periods of time, then God would have had to supernaturally placed all plants into a frozen state of stasis to wait for the sun to arrive the next "day" so that they would have sunlight. Plants can survive a couple of literal days without sunlight, but they cannot survive hundreds, thousands, or millions of days without light. If the days represent vast periods of time, the sun would have charred the earth into a dessert on each day that the earth rotated. Otherwise, one would have to believe each day represents millions of actual days, but this contradicts the statements of "and the evening and the morning were the X day". Because of the statements regarding the workweek and sabbath in Exodus, the creation days cannot be longer than 24 hour. Since death entered the world because of sin (Romans 5:12), all of the animals God created would have had to live for vast ages of time until Adam sinned. This forces Day-Age theorists to arbitrarily decide how long the creation days must be to fit their concept. Furthermore, Jesus and the New Testament apostles read Genesis 1-11 as straightforward historical narrative. What is the genre of Genesis 1? Is it poetic or prophetic? Poetry is easy to recognize in Hebrew because unlike English poetry which often relies upon rhyme and meter, Hebrew poetry is characterized by parallelism: either synonymous or antithetical parallelism. Synonymous parallelism occurs when an idea is repeated using different words, often synonyms of the original. Consider Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” The ‘heavens’ and ‘sky’ basically mean the same thing, just as ‘declare’ and ‘proclaim’ basically mean the same thing. Both the first and second phrase have basically the same meaning: that the universe tells us something about God’s creative glory. Since this passage is poetic, the author did not intend to convey the idea that the sky literally talks. But nonetheless, we can learn something about God by observing the heavens as if they were speaking to us. We understand the meaning. Antithetical parallelism occurs when the second phrase is the alternative to the first - like two sides of the same coin. An example is seen in Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.” The first part proclaims the positive aspect of reverential submission to the Lord: knowledge. The second part problems the negative consequences of a refusal to submit to the Lord - a lack of wisdom. Hebrew scholar Dr. Steven Boyd has conducted a statistical analysis of 522 Old Testament passages. He found that poetic and narrative passages could be categorized with a better than 99% accuracy based on the verb usage alone. Dr. Boyd’s analysis showed conclusively that Genesis 1 is narrative history, not poetry. This means the only way to interpret it properly is as history, looking for its straightforward, historical meaning. The immediate context of each appearance of day in Genesis 1 conclusively establishes their length. Each day is marked by “evening and morning.” A day lasting millions of years would have far more than one evening and morning. Throughout the remainder of the Old Testament, when evening and morning are used together, they refer to a normal-length day. Each day is also linked with a number (“first day,” “second day”). This construction occurs more than 300 times in the Old Testament, and with only a couple of potential exceptions, it always signifies a normal-length day. Furthermore, in the original Hebrew, Genesis 1:31 states that the final day of Creation Week was indeed the sixth day. If millions of years had passed, then Day Six could not have been the sixth day. Another important consideration, often overlooked, is the fact that the plural form of the word day (‘yamim’) is never used anywhere in Scripture non-literally. “Days” (plural) always means “days.” And yet it is the plural form of the word that is used in Exodus 20:11 which states, “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them…” Since the plural form of days is used here, there can be no doubt that the author intended the indicate that God created literally in the span of six days. "Yom represents a revelational day. That is, in six literal days ( or possibly in a vision which represented to Moses the whole drama of creation in six visionary days ) God described to His prophet the mystery of how He had brought creation into being, and the stages by which He did so… This interpretation is perhaps tenable without surrendering the inerrancy of the Bible record. But it encounters several serious difficulties, chief among which is the complete absence of any hint or suggestion in the text of Genesis 1 that a mere vision is being described. It reads like perfectly straightforward history: In the beginning God created heaven and earth: on the first "day" He created light; on the second day He separated the waters into the upper and the lower, and so on." - Gleason L. Archer Jr., "A Survey of Old Testament Introduction." Moody Press, 2nd Ed, 1974, p.185 BY STEVEN W. BOYD, PH.D. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 01, 2004 (Dr. Steven W. I love how Lennox thinks he has defeated real scientists light years ahead of him trained in subjects that he has no concept of understanding such as evolutionary biology and astrophysics by simply saying that they are poisoning science by deliberately lying and trying to teach people that God is not real! @@phild249 Yet it agrees with literalyy all emperical data there is.

Suppose the creation of the Universe is due to a fundamental singularity (t1)
that occurs in the future (t0).
These two singularities will then be one and the same thing.

KJV EXO 20:11 clearly does not say in 6 days the Lord CREATED heaven and earth....but
it does say, For in Six days the Lord MADE heaven and Earth...
Confirmation in John 1:1 onward
ie In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.The same was at the beginning with God.All things were MADE by him and without him was not anything made that was made.
and EXO 20:11. For in six days God made heaven and earth..
Just taken in logical sequence John would be ignorant if he was saying
heaven and earth were made in the beginning and then God said let there be light, divides light from darkness, calls light day and darkness night, evening, morning first day, and then proceed again to create heaven second day and earth the third day. all over again.

Your "god' has NO evidence of existence. All others who mentioned jesus were recording hearsay after 100 CE from chrstians. The entire bible has been totally debunked.

Books, just like proponents who claim their divine origin, can lie or be mistaken too!

more ancient folklore dressed up as science..
Genesis is an ancient text that tried to explain complexity of universe with no scientific knowledge
Archer Jr., "A Survey of Old Testament Introduction." Moody Press, 2nd Ed, 1974, p.185
