Portability, connectivity & battery for me. M12 radio/charger is most used. Packout is used in the workshop. I’ve a hand held usb box that’s great for when I’m working from room to room
The rolling tray top is a nice touch lol seriously tho the main features I want out of a portable radio Bass and decent volume firstly Bluetooth compatibility, optimization for playing files of various types not just mp3 etc, quick connection usb c charging port option of using it to charge other devices would be nice, ip67 rated,
Been using the pack out radio for over a year. That has been the best Milwaukee radio since the original Rockford-Fosgate one. Pack out has 2 subs speakers, the floor at the last house we worked on. 😂
I had that Rockford-Fosgate radio and it was awesome. Eventually the speaker started to crackle after many years of use. It was a heavy radio, but worth it.
Awesome video Mark! I’d say some of the most important qualities I’d look for are durability on the job site( make sure it can take a proper beating), sound quality and volume, and that it would not need plugged in, but battery could last all day.
Great question! I believe you can get a 3rd party microphone app for bluetooth and use it on this. I've successfully tested one on the Ryobi connect bluetooth speakers about a year ago.
Would this radio be loud enough to hear over a ranger atv or utv? I have the m18 Bluetooth speaker 2891-20…it’s loud enough but starting to mess up after many years of use, just curious how this one compares as far as sound quality and loudness
No I wouldn't. I've been producing a variety of 32 GB chips with printouts to list the hundreds or thousands of songs on the chips. My Albums chip contains 730 of the best albums from the 50's to the 2020's. All without THD or clipped waves. They sound fantastic!!! @@MarkThomasBuilder
I really want to get one but don't want to drop the funds without knowing how long the battery lasts on full volume. Usually some of these speakers lack mid range or some bass. Usually I listen to hardstyle, Rawstyle, frenchcore or hardcore and notice it compared to maybe your car speaker.
he says it in the video and Milwaukee advertise it on their product listing; 13 hours, full volume, m18 XC 5.0. ALSO, comparing this to say; 'a car audio system' would be negligible. car audio systems are often 4-6 (alot of the times, even more) speakers that surround you, with a dedicated source unit that puts out far more power than a jobsite radio. it's the difference of; 'having a listening experience' vs. 'having some tunes going while you work'.
I have the pack out bag and it would be nice if they made a smaller out for it so you can connect it to the bag so you can just throw it on your back and go
They have some new speakers launching soon if you're looking for some smaller, portable solutions. The sound is very good. They'll be launching in January 2025.
@@murphdog4558 I recorded some video on those 2 speakers. There's a small compact one and a nice medium size one, which I'm most interested in. They're on the Milwaukee website and I'll also post my video in the next week or so.
My clock is tiny & when you pull the big battery it still doesnt display the clock like my old big daddy unit also bluetooth phone volume control dont work either 😡
The M12 radio is great! It's nice and portable and can hook onto a screw or nail on the wall. The M12 sounds good as you turn it up a little louder, where as this M18 sounds rich and full at all levels.
I like the size of this better then the other big n9n packout M18 radio...but... Doesnt charge batteries. Doesnt have a robust AC cord (cant stand those ac adapters its a fricken jobsite radio helllllllo) Fail.
This one is my favorite so far. The sound is great all all volume levels and it pairs easy. If you search my channel, you'll see I've tested many of them.
The video is almost 11 minutes long, and not once was there ever a mention of price. How much is the MSRP on these radios? How do they compare to the competition? While the video was informative, it obviously had major gaps in its information.
In your opinion, what's are some of the most important qualities of a job site radio?

The ability to play MP3 files from a TF card!!!

One sub the other one isn’t a sub guy and the bass isn’t good at all😂
JUST BOUGHT THE JOB SITE RADIO!!!!! LOVE IT
Awesome, it's my go-to radio. The perfect size that delivers a big sound.
Awesome video Mark! I’d say some of the most important qualities I’d look for are durability on the job site( make sure it can take a proper beating), sound quality and volume, and that it would not need plugged in, but battery could last all day.
Thanks, it looks like it will hold up well on the job site. Other than that, it checks the boxes on sound quality, runtime, etc.
I want a nice radio for the garage. Which one would you recommend? I’m a huge pack out fan but I also want great sound quality.
This one is probably the best for some all around factors, like cost, portability, sound, and bluetooth connectivity.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thank you. For the most part it will be stationary in my garage. Good tunes is key while working in the garage. Sound quality
Great video! I'm curious if this new jobsite and Packout radio will link with the new smaller Milwaukee jobsite speakers.
I remember asking that question to a product manager and unfortunately, they don't all connect. If they did, that would be awesome.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Too bad. I'm looking for something with great sound and versatility like the Ryobi clamp speaker system. Thanks again, Mark.
Can it link to multiple devices by Bluetooth like a phone and microphone in case I decided to use it for karaoke night

I wonder how does it sound against the other job site radio with the charger?
I never tried to see if there's a difference in sound with the charger. This is one of my favorite radios. It's portable and has the best sound.
The original Job-site radio with the Rockford Fosgate speakers etc.. was the most durable.
Yes, I miss that radio. It was heavy, but had a great sound!
Hi !
how many watts is your speaker ?
Can you power this with just an extension cord? Or is there no plug
Is comes with an AC adapter. It has nice runtime with a battery, so I never use the adapter.
Those little notches on the tray might also be for the phone charger cord
Yes, good point.
In addition to what they told,i think it is also important to have a “find my radio” like the air tag when it is stolen hahaha..
Oh, that would be cool!
I would consider buying one of these radios if they played files from a TF card.
That would be interesting. I'm guessing you would need an app to select the songs?
No I wouldn't. I've been producing a variety of 32 GB chips with printouts to list the hundreds or thousands of songs on the chips. My Albums chip contains 730 of the best albums from the 50's to the 2020's. All without THD or clipped waves. They sound fantastic!!! @@MarkThomasBuilder

Interesting, I've never thought to test the runtime on full volume.
Milwaukee claims "Up to 13 hours of runtime on an M18 XC5.0 battery at MAX volume"
he says it in the video and Milwaukee advertise it on their product listing; 13 hours, full volume, m18 XC 5.0.

We need sound test's from further distances.
Okay, thanks!

How does the sound quality compared to the m18/m12 jobsite radio

Can you link two together ?
Not with this one, but the 2 new speakers being introduced will. I plan to have a video out on them pretty soon. It might be a short video...
Not gonna lie. I did not know the grooves on top were for water to come out. I thought that was for the phone charger cord to sit in
Is there livestream tommorow mark Thomas
I'm just finishing up a video to upload this week. I'm putting together my livestream content next and will see by noon tomorrow if I'm ready.
@@MarkThomasBuilder 👍👍👍👍
What's the dimensions of this radio?
16.75 long, 6.75 wide, and 8.25 tall.
2:23 the best portable speaker? 😂 My JBL Boombox 3s would out beat it no diff.
I just noticed the JBL is $500, which I'm sure is very good sounding.

Yes it's at 8pm. Are you around?

Fail.
There's some tradeoffs, so I guess it comes down to what you prefer. As far as sound quality, this is one of the best for it's size.
I KNOW RIGHT?!?!🤦♂️ big difference that the big m18 has a cord for when battery dies, amd it charges when I plug in, big fail for sure🤦♂️
