I've loved this track since I had it on a bootleg cassette tape I bought in Camden Town when I was 14 years old in 1990. I was gutted they didn't put it on Use Your Illusion, but actually they couldn't have done it better than this raw version. Still one of my favourite GnR tracks.
@@Buz-Lunch-Punx not really. The other gnr members was not involved with this and gnr never played or recorded it. Though west did write some gnr music, he did have hes own musical projects going on as well.
This is a great song. I wish it was released as a completed work. There's a little thrash metal thrown in at the 2:30 mark and it's incredible to hear GN'R like this!

It's not Guns n Roses. It's just Axl and West Arkeen. A true fan can easily recognize Slash's dirty-blues-style and Steven's pure driving-energy, and these are not in this song. It's a great record though.
The formation of that band was (or i think it was): Axl, Izzy... Tracii Guns (guitar), Ole Beich (Bass) and Rob Gardner (Drums). So yes, it was Guns n roses
Yep, there's music playing underneath all those 'Hell House' demos. I remember recording on cassettes back in the day and if you continually recorded over them, the magnetic lining would start to break down resulting in the previously recorded stuff 'bleeding' through underneath. The tape degrading, basically. So, the bleed could be previously recorded demos which they weren't happy with, or simply just non-GNR stuff taped off the radio or dubbed from friends' tapes. It's a real throw-back though, screams the 80's! 🙂

But for some reason it just sounds like someone playing music nearby. They were just laying the track down so they probably didn't worry too much about it and couldn't get it that quiet where they lived anywhere. I wonder if Axl didn't go with it because he thought it sounded too 80's for them. Maybe didn't sound new or progressive enough. But it's great. I hate it went to one or two other bands. I am sure GNR could have done a better job on it than the others.

Imo, had this song, inc. November Rain and Don't Cry, made it to the Appetite For Destruction album, then there is no doubt it would have been regarded as the best album in rock history....even smashing the untouchable Led Zep IV......most people don't realize how much music they had written for AFD but not released. I highly recommend people read all the band biographies, it gives a real sense of how crazy things were and how mind-blowing they were to become.
I read that November Rain still needed a little work also you can tell from what was on Appetite’s anniversary release they weren’t completely finished with it yet. With that being the case my favorite “what if songs were on Appetite” Are Crash Diet, Don’t Cry and You Could Be Mine

Plus from the vocals (axl) I’d say this was LA guns not GNR although allot would argue ik they are the same band essentially. If you listen to Hollywood rose reckless life it’s similar in allot of ways. Again pre gnr. Thanks for the upload!

@@prudhoepossy I double checked this and it's West Arkeen on the guitar. Axl and Arkeen wrote the song and handed it over to the band Wildside for whatever reason. You can find their version of the song online and West Arkeen is credited there. Axl did a bunch of songs with Arkeen back in the day including "It's So Easy", "Bad Obsession", "The Garden" and "Yesterdays". I remember seeing an early interview of Axl where he credited Arkeen as 'an unofficial member of gnr' or something along those lines.

Yeah, well considering this was only a demo most likely recorded on a crappy tape in a house just to get it down, with a drum machine, I'd say it's pretty damn good. I've heard the others. I think this is the best. You can't beat Axl's vocals. Those vocalizations are killer. They work well with the song..
