NAVIEN NCB 240 NEW INSTALL START UP
Did you open the top pop valve while you were filling the coil? It's the highest point of flow on the navien
Kudos, brother 🤙🏻 .. nice and sunny here 89 degrees... S. FLA. God Bless...
Never worked in snow... it’s to darn sunny and humid down here...
Put a crap into into gas bleed, lol...
gas was crazy....i could hear it but no smell....NO SMOKING....ha
curious on a ball park price to have one of these installed?
I have a Navien NCB 190/080 combi boiler goes off on thermostat but keeps running on/off every few minutes
Chuck I have a 3 year old navien Combi ch180. It's a complete and total lemon that already had 8 parts replaced. Have you ever had luck with Navien replacing whole u units? Please help
I would call tech support for sure.
@@ChuckBarron yeah I have each time a part failed. Just wondering if you knew of them replacing units
Download the visual support app. Tell the navien tech support person you have the app. If you show them enough evidence they will send you a brand new unit.
There new models are great. The issues I run into are because the installer didn't put a filter on unit. Highly recommend the navi-clean filter and setting the gas tune correctly. Barely anyone ever tunes these boiler's correctly with installation.
Most issues with these systems are due to the people installing them. Same with most all high efficiency systems.
Nice job Chuck! You almost make me want to start installing combi boilers.
lets do one together....we do a vid....lol
Couple of complaints, you spent the money on mp & pp fittings but put in a boat anchor air scoop with maig o mist (top hat air vent) which are notorious for filling with air and you cheaped out on draw offs instead of ball value draw offs aka boiler drains, question is why? Spirovent or Taco air eliminator and ball valve draw offs. JMO 38yr plumber myself and Navien certified. Otherwise nice install 👌
Tim no doubt I need Navien School...a monster of learnings to be had. Thanks Plumber.
i noticed that too why a cheap air scoop steel on that system no way those need a water softener or at least a filter before goes through the unit ...
Looks great. Love the propress. I notice you have a sediment collector to get rid of any garbage in the old piping. I only see one circulator pump. Do you have zone valves
one zone loop on heat...no sediment collector either. no zone valves.
Bro all that snow ❄️.... we are down here chilling in sunny south Florida baby... 🏝🏄🤙☀️... I’ve never installed the combi navien boilers... only the navien water heaters... do the combi boilers work well? And when the boiler is running can it keep up with the demand for domestic hot water?
you see. your missing all the snow dawg....and winter jetty surf.
Thanks for posting Chuck. I noticed you are able to purge the air out through baseboard heater even if taco circ pump is not running. Does all taco circ pump works like that?
water pressure purges lines not pumps.
Love from the uk 🇬🇧 Chuck! Love your videos man!
UK in Da House!!! Thanks Rhys
I cant tell do you make your primary loop or do you purchase ezflow. Also how did you hang your ply wood. Ramset gun?
I do make my own..and i used tapcons to secure ply to brick wall.
Nice job Chuck, thanks for posting!
Thanks JJ....
Another great video Chuck! Can you tell me what the default dip switch settings are for an NCB-210E? Can't find that info anywhere including the manuals. One suggestion for a future video would be to set up the parameters on one out of the box. keep the videos coming!
Best to call tech...
How is this install holding up for you?? I have an NCB 240 hooked up in my own house, it has been fantastic, not a single issue. I heat 2700 sq. ft of radiant floors with it.
Killer....Love em.
How is it holding up now? Thanks
@@kimpaul Still up and running, no issues.
After flushing and changing out Prop Glycol with new, I have constant Error Code 16. Unit keeps shutting down. Don't know how to fix. 16 is supposed to require removing and cleaning the heat exchanger...can't find any videos on doing this!!!!!
call tech support brother...they are the best.
I didn't see if you went through the programming parameters. I installed an IBC similar to this and there's many important parameters that need to be set.

Hi Chuck, Hi from NY! So say, how many days the house was without heat? Be honest. :-)
Renovation job. is that what you mean?
@@ChuckBarron I meant- your project was lasting???
Hry Chuck, thanks for the great video 👌, i have a question with my ncb240, everything since to be working perfect but for some reason im not reaching what the thermostat is calling for, any idea why? Thanks in advance 🙋♂️.
What is boiler temp set at? and is there enough btu's of heat in room your heating for stat to read and shut down?
@@ChuckBarron boiler set up to 180, and the boiler before was working just fine so im assuming the whole system is good.
Did you install thermostat or leave it jumped out ??
Bob....installed....its coming today...lol
@@ChuckBarron gotcha wasn't sure I know how it is getting caught up in everything else
Legend has it, he's still going back to turn the gas on...
Chuck, is Navien your preferred brand of tankless,
And how do u think itt compares to Rinnai.
I have both. Rinnai in the home front and Navien combi at my shop....they both have been good to me.
Tune the gas pressure to spec and put the navi-clean filter on it. Also recommend a filter on the water inlet or s whole house basic filter system.
That's how you bulletproof these systems.
Otherwise good like replacing the 3 way valve every 4 years.
How do you tune the gas pressure to specs? Navien told me not to do this and the gas meter has no visible regulator. The install I just di d is showing 11.04 WC too high for Navien tech. Getting error code E003. Thoughts?

So you have to put a manometer that has a plus in minus port on the outlet side of the gas valve you go into menu and put the machine into min1 which is low fire
You'll see on the gas valve there's a little black cap that you put it on wrench in take that cap off inside of that there'll be an allen wrench screw that you can turn while it's in min 1 make every minimal turns I would say quarter turn at a time and get that manometer to -0.04
Once it's there just hit reset until it's back to the main menu it will fire off as usual
So on these machines once you set the gas pressure correctly on low fire it just carries through the entire range of the machine
I know now navien tech support is tough to get a hold of right now but they're the ones that taught me that I'm sure they'll walk you right through it as they did me
As far as I know they just released a new updated flame rod set too because we have issues with the flame rods bending with the heat cuz they're so thin I know they updated that part as well as the psych last because those break too there's a new sight glass that's a lot tougher
You have to set the temperature for the baseboard at 180, the Navien comes from the factory set up only at 140, just a thought
yes....we did....and Im pissed I did not film it. I set it at 180 and domestic at 115.Thanks dean...
Chuck Barron what’s the point of having a condescending boiler and then running it at 180 degrees?
Mine won’t start to heat up the baseboards ... so annoying
service time.
Did you fit a filter on the return? 😉
magnetic..installed now.
I’ve got an Navien NCB240 and so far I’ll say it’s a great looking piece of shit. I’ve had it for 1 year and it’s gone through 3 pressure sensors (error code 351). Biggest waste of money I have ever spent by far!
i have learned that they must be piped perfect as to their specs.
@@ChuckBarron well, I hired one of their authorized seller's/installers to put it in so what does that say about them? Lol
I had to sacrifice a clients extension cord, unfortunately I cut the wrong end off cause I wasn't paying attention... fml
lol...good one....my father in law did a good one ....we had a cord that was no good, he says chuck you know what you do with cords like this? I was like what? he cut it with snips and sparks flew...he forgot to unplug in before he cut in half....lol
good jon chucky lav wood school u on watr leaks the god solders all
James.....Today is the day.....Im call stevie lav ..... ha
What kind of a professional is this? “I do a lot of stuff for plumbing apprentices… make sure you create fucking leaks everywhere, including not tightening an expansion tank (mind blowing), add a secondary feed that is unnecessary (plug the fucking thing in!). I can go on and on. You give us all a bad name pal. ‘Tighten’ your act up
Sir! Yes! Sir!
First!!!
My Plumber......Ya Man!!!!!
It seems nobody wants to tell anybody how much they charge for this work, I can only guess why.
