Petroglyphs of Cutter Canyon

- Tucked away off a dirt road east of Blanco, New Mexico, lies a rock wall surrounded by green shrubs and mesas. There's nothing remarkable at first glance--until you take a closer look and find the rocks are covered with petroglyphs. The theme of looking closer and paying attention to details even when surrounded by a vast landscape, seems to permeate our conversation in the second episode of our series with Anthony Lee, Dine' historian. Join us as we decipher the petroglyphs and reconnect with our ancestors.

Looks like a lot of communication happening on those rock walls. That must have been a very hard climb. Whoa - one slip and its hurtin' time. As always, you take us on a journey to place and spirit. I also love the soundtrack. Wish I knew who that is playing the acoustic guitar. It is music from the heart as are your stories. Thanks again, storyteller.
Ahe' hee for your supportive words. The music is by Sean Trauth; he was a colleague & collaborator I had in college. He did a few tracks for my short films & an amazing musician. He's currently based out of Austin, TX and I believe he still tours & plays festivals in the Austin area. Please look him & enjoy the rest of his catalog. Ahe' hee
That's amazing 👍

Bad karma tends to come upon people who mistreat or have no connection to petroglyphs that don’t pertain to them family wise. And you definitely don’t won’t to have bad omens go home with you from mischief intent or mindless intent huh? True native belief from most cultures Barr the white mannn.
Agreed, it was upsetting seeing the vandalism done to the petroglyphs but not surprised since as Anthony mentioned it's not protected land.
All the "Pueblo" ones are weathered more, like the bigger one towards the end. Usually they represent a marker for a clan migration path.
Yes that is correct. Anthony and I had an offline conversation about the history of Pueblos along the San Juan River. The extended cut of our conversation will be released with our podcast launch. Ahe' hee for watching Anthony's video. 🤙🏾
