I find this very hopeful and moving. I reminds me how far we have come from Shakespeare's time, to Virginia Woolf's time, to our own. And how far we have yet to go.
Ugh, this was fantastic. As a writer and aspiring actress, myself, I was very impressed. She was so captivating the entire video. I've loved "A Room of One's Own" since I was assigned to read it in the beginning of my college journey. Virginia writes so eloquently; she's very clever. Fiona Shaw performed this piece so well... I forgot she was reciting Virginia.
Astounding, heartfelt and moving. The words pour out of Fiona's mouth with such beauty that is only accompanied by strong and intense feeling. BRAVO 👏 and long live JUDITH SHAKESPEARE and the Rooms we inhabit.
Beautifully done; thank you. I think every high school student of Shakespeare's plays should study A Room of One's Own with particular emphasis on this excerpt about the hypothetical Judith Shakespeare.
The only thing is wrong about this video, is that is lacking likes. I can´t describe how touching and powerfull the speech AND Fiona Shaw were, nor how encouraging as a human, as a writer, as a human being this will make you feel.
I bought this thinking it was a novella. Then I realized "this is a feminist non-fiction piece". When I finished reading it I realized, it's a poetic masterpiece of sad human facts.

We still have so far to go, though...

Gosh, I am in floods! Fiona, you breathe life into Woolf's words. Thank you.
The narration filled me with a sense of thrill..she is a great narrator

Fiona is so captivating and likeable. I adore her
Incredible! So well spoken. So well said. A woman needs a room and money to write fiction! Was riveted.
A perfect combination of writer, performer and film-maker.
Thank you so much. For someone like me who cannot afford anymore to take english lessons, this is fantastic material to keep learning on my own.

This is beautiful. Really added to the piece which is already wonderful in itself.
She owned it!
Even if she were reading the yellow pages I would still be listening
