Yes, when your battery is full, it will stop charging to battery. You can check new improved version of this circuit with precise & adjustable cutoff. Good evening I saw your post about the 3.7 volt battery I have a 21 volt battery(5 battery 3.7=4.2vx5=21v) Can you tell me what resistors I need to change to make it work Thank you very much
Hello, I tried it with the video circuit (I captured the screen) and it never cut despite not charging anymore and the red led was permanently on, I clarify that I used a new 3.7 battery that was fully charged and I discharged it a little to load. Looking at the circuit in the video with the one in the description there are differences, I used the one in the description and it works fine now. Thank you! I want to make a contribution, I removed the 220 resistor and put a 10k potentiometer as you suggest and you can effectively regulate the charging voltage as a previous user consulted. Greetings.

Hello and thank you very much for your video, very useful. A question, what modification in the circuit should I do if my battery is 1.5 volts? Greetings
Circuit operation is simple, Mosfet is already set on by giving positive current on gate pin using 1k resistor, and allows voltage from source to drain pin. Also red led received positive from same 1k resistor and negative from ground so indicates charging. The voltage divider is used on refrence pin 1 of TL431, 4.7k resistor connected from positive to refrence pin and same reference pin is connected to ground through 2 calculated resistors for cutoff, better is to use 10k trimpot, (when voltage rises then set cutoff voltage) refrence pin gets positive voltage remained after some dumped by resistors connected to ground, it triggers TL431 to allow negative voltage from pin 2 to pin 3 which dumps the positive current going to gate and turns off Mosfet. And green led gets negative voltage from pin 3 of tl431 and positive through resistor and indicates fully charged.

how it work, can u explain operation ?
Circuit operation is simple, Mosfet is already set on by giving positive current on gate pin using 1k resistor, and allows voltage from source to drain pin.
Also red led received positive from same 1k resistor and negative from ground so indicates charging.
The voltage divider is used on refrence pin 1 of TL431,
4.7k resistor connected from positive to refrence pin and same reference pin is connected to ground through 2 calculated resistors for cutoff, better is to use 10k trimpot, (when voltage rises then set cutoff voltage) refrence pin gets positive voltage remained after some dumped by resistors connected to ground, it triggers TL431 to allow negative voltage from pin 2 to pin 3 which dumps the positive current going to gate and turns off Mosfet.
And green led gets negative voltage from pin 3 of tl431 and positive through resistor and indicates fully charged.
