I hope this is for remodels. If you’re stuck with this method in new construction, then the contractor messed up. The REAL easiest method is to space the stringers off of the framed wall with a 2x. This leaves room for the drywall and skirt board to be installed with no notches other than top and bottom. Then treads or carpet can be installed to cover the remaining 1/8 to 1/4quarter inch gap.
How would you go about layout for a stair case that doesn't have 90 degrees steps. If the risers has a back cut for instances. So the treads are level with the floor, but the risers aren't. So the tread could be at an 80 degrees angle for example to allow for more purches on the tread.
I have a 90° staircase (4 steps creating 90° to the straight run above) that I'd like to add a skirt to. Trouble is that when I lay the 1x12 in position for marking, the two bottom steps sit about 2 inches below the positioned skirt board. The 2 angled steps that create the 90° staircase sit level with the board and seem easy to mark. Is there a way to make the bottom 2 steps work for skirting?

How should i go about making a skirt board on an old set of stairs that are un even and when a board is laid over them not every stair touches the straight board.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into all your videos. They are very helpful and informative.
My pleasure!

If it wasn't for remodels and the contractor did mess up, then here's something that could solve their problem.
At 2:12 you marked a top number. But didn’t specify what that number comes from. Please explain.
Thanks for this information it’s helpful

OMG muchas gracias for all the time and details it’s very helpful, l do appreciate it 💞
No problem 😊
Is it recommend to cut the first notch out at the floor level, then slide the skirt onto the floor, then mark out your treads and risers?
For some designs, yes. Good point.
Do you have a video that explains how to do this with a rounded edge step?
No, but plan on making one, just don't know when.

Can you make a youtube video and put a link to here.
Did the video help?

I see the video in the reply above. However, could you send the email address so I'm sure? Thank you @@stairbuilding

Nice 👌
Thanks 😊
If we have notches on the stairs, how do we measure for that?
I will be making more videos on how to layout for nosing's, but if you need different notches, let me know what type.
How do you make it look like one board?
My one is different how i can cut it ?
I use circular saw and hand saw.
My stairs are not straight. Do you have some video for us ? I will be happy to share it with my friends ❤
Waiting for that video where the board doesn’t rest on all the treads
👀
If it's not on playlist, then can you provide more details along with the waiting for????
You mentioned making a video at 0:50 where you address what to do when the board doesn’t touch all the steps

@@stairbuilding Sorry, didn't mean to come off as rude.
where are the videos for this if the steps are all different?
