I think the texture underneath would drive me nuts. You can achieve the exact same effect doing the "broken ice" ontop..... idk why people always do it underneath - unless youre encapsulating it, theres gonna be crevaces for dirt to get stuck in.

Well that is what those rectangle nail brushes are for !! You scrub under and on top of your nails with soap and water to get crevices like these. The bristles are soft but strong enough to brush out any dirt in textured nails !!
I pointed the same thing out to another nail artist(albeit with attitude because I was so tired of people treating this technique as better) and she was so set in her ways and unprofessional. I asked a question which she did not answer and she said I didn't know what I was talking about(obviously because you didn't answer my question) because I'm not a nail tech. This is so unsanitary and chunky, not to mention if you accidentally scratch yourself that would feel just awful. Sorry for venting but she was a much smaller creator than this one and a few of her fans ganged up on me, I thought I was the only one who felt like this.

You should search "aquarium nails" in UA-cam. There is another UA-camr that paints pictures on nails. One was of Jessica Rabbit with glitter for the dress. Nails have really come a long way.

Yeah, it gets caught on hair, clothing, etc. When I use the broken ice method I file it slightly underneath to smooth out the jagged edges. It definitely helps!🙂

Exactly !!!! Doing it on top is much easier plus it’s cleaner. The ombré would have looked better if it was on top.

I have major issues with textured nails too. But after curing you can lightly file and top coat underneath. I do it all of the time.
