When I was just a podling, Momma told me son,
Always be a goblin, don't ever delve for fun,
But I fought for good old Squeegee, Had to watch him die,
Them baboons keep a-screaming, I hang my head and cry
Rest in pieces Squeegee, you will be missed.
The Greatest Goblin in the World is dead. Long live the Greatest Goblin in the World!
Goodnight, sweet prince.
He was the best of us.
You gotta have Mort pick up the banjo and play some gobbo blues. Maybe a ukulele.
This series is the best introduction to OSR gaming possible
I agree. I picked up OSE a while ago and played with my roommates, but it was sort of colored by our experiences with games like 5e or more story based games like blades in the dark. Watching this series really helped me run my homemade megadungeon with a bit more pazzaz :)
That’s awesome!
Smart solution! Using the dungeon features to their advantage in an incredibly creative manner! Bravo!
Slowly catching up here! Another great session. You know the players are absolutely hooked when there is physically noticeable stress trying to figure out who has what slots available to grab as much coins as possible before getting caught, when in fact they are playing a game of make-believe without actual time pressure :D They really became their characters there. Love it!
Excellent episode, my favorite in this series so far!
Been cruising through these while at work, and I love all of you. Love the chemistry you all have developed. And Jon, I need you to be running any work meetings I'm ever in haha. You always take control when necessary.
Amazing episode and series. I love the player mapping and DM's view.
This campaign keeps getting better and better! Thank you all for broadcasting such a fine example of OSR play
44:44 This is a perfect example of how a rules light system creates better roleplaying.
I'm going to say it again. This is better than anything on television/streaming, and the best rpg gameplay series out there! Rock on!!
Kind words! Thanks so much for sticking with us!
AWESOME!!!
This is old school gaming at its finest. The massive reversal of fortunes, using nothing but wits and twine to outwit impossible odds is just fantastic; it makes grimy underdog stories that you just can't get out of heroic fantasy. Huge props to Jon, the players and Arnold Schwarzenegger for this awesome showcase.
Lol. Hoping that Jost becomes a fan favorite. Nothing appeases a GM’s vanity like a GMPC. 😏
@@3D6DTL I'm not sure any GMPC will ever top "Bishop F*** Off" killing the Gloam in the Dolmenwood campaign, but Conan the Baldbarian is already #1 in my heart!
@@3D6DTL I can feel that David is feeling ballsier with Anwir because he knows that if he dies he can probably take up the Jostian mantle.
In OSE, solutions aren't found on the character sheet. Isn't that what we are seeing here? Instinct is, "why don't they give them more useful abilities" but that is counter to this kind of magic.
That is a golden example of OSR play. Congrats everyone!
This is the best OSR series I have found on youtube period, you all deserve a lot more attention.
I appreciate the sentiment! Spread the word!
This episode was amazing. Great job to everyone for that escape. Can't wait until I am fully caught up. I haven't been this hooked on an actual play in a long time.
Wow, what a tense few episodes ever since the gang got themselves captured. I'm impressed that they've (almost) gotten themselves out of it. Smart thinking by the players and great DM -ing by John. I confess that if I was a player I'd want to throttle David's character for being greedy at this point, but I think every group needs a player like that.
GG guys. Great session.
I was hoping to hear Jon say "Get into the chamba!" In Arnold's voice! haha
Yeah! The best actual play on UA-cam is here to liven up a Monday!
Come for the OSR gameplay; stay for the moral philosophy!
We have moral philosophy???
😄
@@michaelmorrison8679 When Matt casts Detect Evil there sure is!
@@magdaleneabiuso65 most unsurprising development was Anwir glowing.
You know he muttered over his shoulder 'I'll be back' as he scooted down that pit...
Great session, awesome problem solving and interaction. Top notch play there.
Another amazing session! Just ran my own first session of a new OSR campaign last night and it's super fun to see the wit you sometimes need to solve problems.
Matt's twine trick, causes an OSR-gasim
That was the good stuff
You just watch....the floor is going to be lined with scissors or something.
We haven't even done it yet and this idea is getting all the love!
@@mattavaricios4679 or maybe just the sticky oozey secretion from the horrible creature right above your head! ahhh!
it was. now i feel dirty.
Lovin' the different accents for the NPCs.
Anwir we want the ruby anwir yeeeeaaas we NEED the ruby. We deserve it. We should grab it! Quickly! Don’t hesitate.
Awesome session. What a play! A proper prison break.
Was Squeegee's stuff locked up with the rest? He had some goodies (and a feather too, I think!)
No way for them to know, but quite possibly!
The lethality is real! Good luck on the next episodes, hope you find all the treasure
Niiiice. You guys are rolling DEEP now. Those halflings better recognize. Was that an otyugh in the pit?
Bingo!
What a session! This has been such a great arc, I love how it is turning out - even if you all die horribly next session this was playing and planning at its finest! I also noticed you've passed 2500 subscribers! Congratulations!
Thank you! Slowly but steadily growing!
"don't forget there was a *matching* rug on the other side of the room..." lol... jon's the best!
Telegraphing for the win, lol
Dangling stuff like that out there to tempt us and get us eaten by monkeys...or worse!
(You just KNOW we're sneaking back in here!)
@@mattavaricios4679 we ARE not sneaking. i'm bringing the Legion. Its going to be like the opening scene from Gladiator. "On my command, unleash Hell". there will be flaming monkeys running through the halls. I'll have Gerrilads skull for my drinking cup.
@@michaelmorrison8679 I'm with you on the skull thing, but not on the flaming monkey thing. Avaricios knows that they aren't evil creatures, any more than Njall was, and it will be very hard to get him on board with that.
@@mattavaricios4679 just imagine rolling pots of greek fire down the hallway... it will be GLORIOUS.
Gotta level with ya jon I'm 4 episodes behind (life!) And it sounds like a... lot went down.
You're in for a good time!
It’s all here waiting for you!
Good to see some smart play - wasn’t sure if we were going to get a TPK and either new characters or a new campaign.
At least you now have ways in that bypass coin hungry Halflings.
Or, we could just always hold our loot above our heads, and watch them jump for it.
No - really rub it into their little faces. Keep using their passage way for entry, but never exit from it.
Give them a happy little smile - flip them a copper for their troubles, and then leave via the secret passage with all the loot.
Congrats, so David hasn't killed his 18 intelligence/16 charisma Illusionist. You know how rare that is? I think he's allergic to safe choices. All kidding aside, another marvelous game. My favorite this game was Matt/Avaricious' idea to put a holy symbol on returning chord. 2nd was Jon's Schwarzenegger voice NPC.
Heck yes!!! I hope Gorend hid a weapon in his prison pocket!! Godspeed Dwarf!
Spoiler: It was a polearm. He looked like a dwarven corndog.
@Matt / Avaricios Dwarven Corndog is my new favorite in game canon!
What happened to Avaricios's ibis?
I keep forgetting about it!
@@3D6DTL Maybe it left to peck at his right hand...
@@jacoblee1328 thats cold. and hilarious.
Whooo! Way to kick off a Monday! Will they be torn to shreds by blood crazed baboons? Will they escape with their lives? Will they live? Will they DIE soiling themselves? Let's see what happens to the intrepid adventurers this week. ^_^
Unfortunately, no camels were punched in the filming of this session ~~Jost, probably.
Great episode!
Great session as always!
I'm not sure if it has been asked but will there ever be a return to Dolmenwood?
Never say never!
@Avaricios How about a custom crafted articulated silver hand?
Hell, yeah! Bonus if it's hollow and can be used as a flask.
I am binge watching this since I discovered this awesome series last weekend. You guys are awesome! I am so hooked that I want to run Arden Vul for my group asap but we are still in the midth of a 5E campaign
Great to hear, and welcome!
Where can I find the "Death & Dismemberment " rules Jon is using?
Might be from cave girls game stuff can't check until later though
Click the link to my house rules in the description. In that document is another link to the Death and Dismemberment Rules. They’re from Arnold Kemp’s Goblin Punch blog.
@@3D6DTL thank you
Get to the choppa!
I don't know why Njal would listen to anything the PCs say to him, except that he has to in order for the party to have some way to escape.
You caught me. And I would’ve gotten away with it if it wasn’t for you, meddling kid.
Anwir has a death wish 😅
Just FYI, triangulation is when you know distances, not directions. With triangulation, you’ll need distances from three points to deduce the location. But if you have directions, 2 lines are enough, the location is just where they intersect.
Remember the worst curse the polite Chinese say is may you live in ‘interesting’ times 😅

Good and evil all subjective eh? I smell some reddit atheism... good episode though very fun as usual!
Reddit atheism?
@@3D6DTL oh subjective morality is just a classic reddit atheist argument, I'm Christian, so Jon (You I'm guessing) mentioning "Good and evil...its all subjective" just hinted at that for me. It may be wrong of me to assume your stance on these things, really loving the show it is quite literally the best 'actual play' put to video. High production value, no acting or melodrama, all game.
You would be extremely incorrect, yes. As a Christian, probably best to think a bit more before pressing Send on a glib insult, yeah? Regardless, thank you for the kind words, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the series so far.
@@3D6DTL my apologies shouldn't have been so quick to judge, God bless and have a merry Christmas.
I'm over here chomping at the bit, waiting for the next upload
